I just picked up telekinetic blast on my mage (the non upgraded version), and so far the only thing I've seen it do is absolutely nothing. I can't tell if I'm just doing it wrong or if the spell is broken. But whenever I use to targetting to circle to knock enemies away from something, the spell goes off and nothing happens. Not even a "resist" or "failed" message. Can anyone explain how to use this or is it broken?
Telekinetic Blast - How is it supposed to work?

On what kind of enemies did you try? It works no problems for me.

Agreed. It usually won't work on bosses and often fails on lieutenants as well, but it all boils down to the physical force generated (30x with the upgrade, 20x without)
That said, I found Pull of the abyss and gravitic ring far more useful. Combine with an AOE spell for optimal results.

It pushes everything away from the center.
Sometimes I use it when I have a ring on a door, and some manage to get through. Before I drop a big AoE, which takes a while, I use it to push the quick ones back into the ring. When everything on my side of the door is in the ring, I have all the time in the world to drop the AoE.
Another use is when you're getting surrounded, you can drop it so you're exactly in the middle of it. Then you can CoC them for a Brittle CCC and gtfo.
The nicest use is to break Assassins from stealth. Yoink! <tm>

Its a knockdown, better than mind blast at knocking down, but I prefer to mostly ignore it because of how often it fails.

If you haven't upgraded it the effect only seems to work on critter level creatures. Once you upgrade it you get a nice powerful blow back effect. Comes in handy if you get swarmed and mind blast is on cool down.

use it to seperate squishies from those attacking said squishy
use it to cc or remove stealth on rogues, dex based enemies have low fortitude
use it to interrupt spell casting
use it to pile enemies together
use it to knock an ally away from an incoming attack

So basically what I'm getting is, it works only on lower level creatures, meaning it is fairly useless because any dps put on them kills them in a few seconds anyway. For higher level/rank enemies, any enemies that pose an actual threat, it does nothing. Great. A wasted talent point.

Telekinetic Blast seems to be much more effective than Pull of the Abyss for getting enemies into the center of Gravitic Ring.
Pull of the Abyss is too powerful, it ends up pulling a few enemies out of the ring and closer to the Mage.
I cast Gravitic Ring in a chokepoint and if one or two of the enemies make it to the mage's side of the ring, I use Telekinetic Blast to push them back into the center.
It worked great on pretty high level Coterie Rogues in Brekker's hideaway during Inside Job (Act 2 Nightmare mode), for example. Maybe your magic level has something to do with it? Are you casting it so that the enemy is at the edge of Telekinetic Blast targeting circle?

I love this spell and used it quite often to move people around the battlefield. The problem is, a lot of creatures do not have prone animations (either lifting or flying threw the air) because Bioware didn't care or didn't think it was important. Take your pick.
