I'm about half-way through my current playthrough of Dragon Age II and I've thought for my next playthrough it might be fun to let my friends/forums at large vote on my next character.  So here goes.

Which gender should Hawke be?

Which class should Hawke be?

Which general attitude should Hawke default to when possible?

Where does Hawke side when it comes to the Mage/Templar Issue?

Who should Hawke romance?

If you like feel free to tell me how you voted and why.  If anyone is wondering I tend to play snarky female rogues who romance Isabela/Merrill and side with the mages in the end.

I never really know how to vote on these types of things....so I just go with my faves. xD

Though, I'm lame and play the same type of Hawke over and over again.

I suppose you could change it up abit...but I tend to play warriors who are snarky for the most part n tend to side with the templars( though that's mostly cuz I dislike what Anders does and I despise Orsino with a passion) at the end( apparently I like positions of power in DA games...because I usually always became a king or queen consort cousland during my HN playthroughs). I will also say your usual choices seem good to me( though since I play both males n females) especially where the LIs are concerned...

Female, warrior, good/diplomatic, revolutionary mage, Anders.

I voted with my canon Hawke in mind. She's a Rogue, snarky and hilarious. She remains neutral about the Temp./Mages but ends up siding with the Mages. Mostly because her sister is a Mage and is all about family, so she'd never fight her own sister at the end. I also think a snarky Hawke goes well with Isabela. They are carefree when they first get to know each other then sleep together but their feelings get stronger over the years.

I think you tend to read 'should' as shorthand for 'how would you respond'.

I found the easiest of the polls to reply to be the love interest and gender polls as in all of my playthroughs these factors have been constant.

With the Mage/Templar question I voted the way my first 'personal canon' Hawke acted - remained neutral but sided with the mages.

Tougher were the other two polls. All three classes have their own strengths and weaknesses and, of course, impact on the way the story plays out. It's best to play with each class, I think. I voted rogue because, again, that was the class of my original Hawke.

And the general attitude one is difficult because it asks what the 'default' response should be. I've come to love taking some of the joking/charming responses... but sometimes they can feel inappropriate. So whilst I like that response as an option, I prefer 'default' to be good/diplomatic.

In the end whatever reason someone voted one way over another is valid in my books because I did goof on one poll and could probably word the rest better if I had taken more than 15 minutes to come up with  run with the idea. Mostly it's just a non-standard way of trying to get out of a slight DAII PC rut while adding some group participation to the mix.

Now watch the voting come down to my next being Hawke a snarky rogue female who romances Isabela and sides with the mages anyways!

Will do!  I plan for this to be my next character and I am almost at the end of Act II on my current playthrough.  Right now it looks like I am head for a snarky female mage who will romance Isabela and side with the mages.  Still very close on on all things though so could change in the next few days.  Also planning to do it as a no cheat run through and bumping the difficulty up a notch.

I voted:

What?

Male
Mage
Funny/Charming
Revolutionary Pro-Mage
Anders

Why?

Male because you tend to play females, so it'd be a cool switch up.
Mage because it's hella fun, and I love the RP element.
Funny/Humorous because sarcastic!Hawke is a legend, and the lulz are too great to pass over. Also while romancing Anders, it's nice to bring out that sarcasm as a way of highlighting what Anders has lost in his joining with Justice.
Revolutionary Mage because it's fun to play someone with such a strong, radical outlook, and it actually causes more headaches than you might first imagine. It's not just a case of agreeing to save mages and agreeing with Anders all the time. It's still a nuanced position to take, and one you find yourself battling to justify in your own head while playing.
Anders because, well, it's interesting to witness his breakdown and actions while playing a revolutionary pro-mage, because it tests your own strength of belief in the cause. I could have said Fenris, for the utter total omg!angst, but I think that's a cheap option when playing this kind of mage. For me, Anders works better.

So run, my pretty. Make this your next Hawke. And awesomeness shall happen.

I'm so thoroughly void of originality it's sad.

Female rogue, fundamentally good but jokey disposition (voted charming), shivers her timbers with Isabela and while pro-mage, sympathises with certain elements of what the templars deal with.

...I've just voted the exact kind of character you usually play.
I'm so very sorry. *hides*

So I wasn't sure if you'd played a certain character already like, say, a snarky female rogue.

Since I don't know that, I voted for a snarky female rogue since I think that's the coolest possible combo in Dragon Age 2.  Why?  Because the archer is Dragon Age 2's mage, and the mage was the coolest (read: most overpowered) class in DAO.   Romance?  Isabela because the dialogue options are amusing.

Which gender should Hawke be?

Female 62% (37 votes)

Male 38% (23 votes)

Female has been in the lead since the beginning and has kept a strong lead I don't see this changing.

Which class should Hawke be?

Rogue 36% (22 votes)
Mage 44% (27 votes)

Warrior 20% (12 votes)

Mage has been leading since the beginning as well but it's only just eeeking out the rogue class, could go either way.

Which general attitude should Hawke default to when possible?

Good/Diplomatic 27% (16 votes)
Funny/Charming 63% (38 votes)

Action/Aggressive 10% (6 votes)

Funny/Charming is far and away the favorite.  No surprises and can't blame anyone there!

Where does Hawke side when it comes to the Mage/Templar Issue?

Revolutionary Mage 12% (8 votes)
Pro Mage with sympathy/mercy/understanding for some templars and/or their actions 46% (31 votes)

Neutral/Split but sides with Mages 24% (16 votes)
Neutral/Split but sides with Templars 4% (3 votes)
Templar but have sympathy/mercy/understanding for some mages and/or their actions 15% (10 votes)

Bunch of filthy mage lovers! :P

Who should Hawke romance?

Isabela 30% (23 votes)
Merrill 33% (25 votes)

Fenris 16% (12 votes)
Anders 21% (16 votes)

Isabela started off in the lead but the Merrill fans have snuck ahead!  The boys never really stood a chance I suppose...  Still got a few days till a week to go so while I doubt we'll see a hugh influx of votes anything could happen.  The current standings will result in:

A snarky female mage who romances Merrill and sides with the mages but sometimes sympathizes with the templars.

It's too bad the guys aren't in the lead...I thought the Anders romance path was really interesting, so since you don't tend to romance them it'd be a nice change.

Last poll did not have the option ALL.

haha on one of my first few playthroughs I did a sarcastic female hawke who was pretty much the biggest flirt/very similar attitude-wise to Isabela. I think she finally ended up with Isabela because fenris was too emo (plus it was a rival romance), anders was too annoying, and merrill said too much too soon. Imagine how awkward it would have been for them afterwards whenever they were in the same the party following hawke around..

Though romancing all of them does seem to bug out some of the banter conversations. e.g. Isabela will comment about merrill and hawke's 'relationship' (even though it had ended) followed straight after by merrill talking giggling about how she thinks hawke likes isabela

Unfortunately, it's not possible to romance all of companions.

When you romance either Merrill or Anders, it blocks all other romances for the rest of the game.

I don't mean romance really - more just having sex with them. ahahah ahem..
Anyway, with fenris and isabela bailing off afterwards you're pretty safe to 'move on' to anders and merrill. If you refuse them immediately after they proposition to stay at your house the romance doesn't block the other romances.
E.g. in my case I rejected both anders and merrill after, then I went on to tell fenris he was a jerk and sailed off with isabela into the sunset. It's only fair - if isabela can sleep with everyone why shouldn't hawke?

Haha I think I burned so much money at the blooming rose in that playthrough. Gotta love the 'bad girl special' ahaha

haha I don't think there is one that cost 5 sovereigns...the 'bad girl/boy special' is a special option that pops up after you pay for premium or standard service at least once (so only around 2g or 1g) and costs 50silver.

It's just hell random/unexpected. If you don't mind spoilers, hawke goes like "do you have anything special for  girls/boys that have been really bad?" and madam lusine is like "I've got just the thing!"
Then it fades out and you and your companions are standing in front of a chantry priestess who is giving you a sermon on the forgiveness of sins... haha and hawke's like "that was definately NOT what I was expecting" or "That did NOT just happen".

But no, most of the money wasn't really worth it. All you get is a random pun/sexual innuendo and then a clip of hawke zipping up her/his pants (and your companions standing really awkwardly at the doorway)
