Except you can release him which does amount to saving him. Though at the end of the day he brought his fate down on himself. He choose to start a romance which was forbidden, he choose to become a blood mage, he choose to try, and escape the circle, and he choose to poison Arl Eamon.

Well, I don't fault him for trying to escape the Circle. However, he should have known better than to engage in an illegal activity in a building filled with armed guards watching out for that sort of thing. I don't know whether he is as naive as he's portrayed, but someone on the savier side would have realised they were being set up, NOT followed through on Loghain's deal and gotten the heck out of Dodge.

He also struck me as a big of an idiot. A sweet guy but still an idiot. The only thing that flat out annoys me about the Mage Origin is you get stuck having to help him. You can't just walk away from the whole mess.

Hindsight is a marvellous thing, isn't it? But bear in mind the fact that (at that point, at least) Loghain is viewed as a national hero, not to mention Maric's BFF, the queen's dad and general of Fereldan's armies, so why would Jowan question him? (Plus, Eamon has an Orlesian wife, so it probably wouldn't take much to convince Jowan that he doesn't have Fereldan's best interests at heart).

Also bear in mind that Jowan, like most young mages, hasn't been out of the tower so if he's a tad inexperienced, it's not all that surprising.

Pair that with the fact that he's a bit dense, then... well, you get my meaning.

Yeah Jowan really made me wish that you had a line which would let you face palm. Has some of the best bits of dialogue though.

Warden: This fat cow is your lover?

Jowan: ...She's right here!

Warden: You couldn't even light a candle with your magic

Jowan: That was due to nervousness now bad aim! And I did set the blinds on fire!

Yea, Jowan is a walking disaster waiting to happen. Pity there was no option C for the Magi Origin:

"Jowan, you idiot, they're on to you - I'm not going through with your stupid escape plan. Just be thankful I didn't let Irving con me into backstabbing you."

Arl is a dick.

Seriously is there no way to save Jowan?

Anyway Jowan would have definitely made a better companion IMO.

Actually, Jowan was originally planned to be a joinable party member at one point and you could have recruited him by invoking the Right of Conscription.  Unfortunately, the idea was scrapped since they ran out of room to add more party members.

Ran out of room? Why are Mods like Ser Gilmore & Karma's Companions (Adding Jowan btw) possible then? Biowaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaareeeeeeeeeeeee............kindly explain!:innocent:
