Hello everyone,

I've thought to myself on many occassion about how DA3 would be cool to have Hawke and the Warden on the same team. But when I completed Witch Hunt yesterday, my idea changed completely.

Because I chose to be with only Morrigan throughout Origins, my Warden was a bag of nerves when he was finally reunited with Morrigan in WH. Then the moment they went through the mirror together, I suddenly had Mark Anthony an Cleopatra in my head.

Not the whole story of course, but how there love would be the end of them. And when I started DA2 again and met Flemeth, thats when I stopped wanting Hawke an Warden on the same team, but instead have Hawke and Flemeth chasing down the Warden an Morrigan.

Groovy stuff, even if this story happens in my head and not made into a DA story.

I approve of you, simply for thinking this way.

As for DA3 pitting them against one another ... the problem I see is this would only make sense in some circumstances and not others - which means the marketing promise would be limited.

Besides which, do I really want to chose between Hawke and my Warden?  The person I chose would, always, be decided by which game I'd played last.

If it's any consolation, between the two of them, I don't think the Warden would have much to say about it.

Hawke against the Warden or vice versa. That would be an interesting situation. It would be a difficult choice, for sure. If it came down to combat prowess though, I think Hawke would have the advantage due to faster combat skills and abilities. The Warden would have the advantage if they manage to stun-lock Hawke though.

Your correct indeed, I should have suggested this idea to be a 4th story.

If Hawke & Warden were to team up, then this could be a good idea. But it would be this game where you would see the warriors begin to fall apart, and my idea might then have worked as a 4th title.

As for choosing, I say that should be the selling point. It could bring back a type of Origin beginning where you could choose to be either of the characters, giving you a final battle at the end.

Hawke's origin would be to save the main plot story, whilst the Warden would be trying to stop Hawke's success from happening.

If they ever make a game where this happens, they won't have DAO Warden vs DA2 Hawke with the combat mechanics unique to each game, that's just silly XD.

But, you do bring up an interesting problem: how to import each character into a 3rd game, including appearance as well as story information. DAO has a different character creation engine from DA2, and we can't know how they will change things in another game. We saw what they did with poor Alistair...

To answer the original question though: my Warden whose save I use for all my various DA2 plays is a mage. My most often used DA2 class is a mage as well. Assuming that they are 2 equally matched mages, I can see that fight going on a long time.

If I'm allowed to bring my friends however... Warden, Wynne, Alistair, Leliana vs Hawke, Anders, Fenris, Varric... Hawke team wins. (This may not be the ideal setup for some, but those are the group makeups I used most often.)

The only problem with this, is the game would have to be half as long to accomidate it.

That would be an interesting outcome, I reckon my Awakening Warden would defeat Hawke though. Mind you if it were just the Warden after Origins Hawke would beat him with his powerful sharp two handed sword and champion armor...

It could be interesting to have a game where you play both Hawke and the Warden in parallel and depending on your choices with each of them, at the end they reach a final confrontation or team together.
The problem with this is that at some point the machine would have to control one of them and make decisions for me, and that's something I do not want. I'd rather put them on the same team from the beginnig and roleplay both characters with the option to choose the party leader Baldur's Gate style.

Hawke and the Warden would go out for drinks. Hawke would drink the lightweight elf under the table, not before the Warden spikes the fool apostate's pint. Call it a draw.

In all seriousness, it's an interesting idea. The problem, of course, is people would be annoyed if they lose control of one of their characters. And having control of both would be a mess of variables and odd moments where I feel like I'm talking to myself (it's odd enough in real life, thank you). If I was playing Hawke and chasing the Warden, would I get to choose who my Warden was beforehand? What if my Warden never followed Morrigan (she didn't)?

Following Morrigan certainly has promise, though, as Bio are implying more and more the importance of her and Flemeth.

I would pay to see my Miserable Bastard Hawke and my Miserable Old Effword Warden duke it out. Maybe throw in Saucy Lady Shepard for added entertainment.

If those two were in a team my Arcane Warrior Warden would make bad jokes A LOT of bad jokes at my mage Hawke until either Hawke killed himself or tried to kill my Warden in which after a long battle my Warden will be having roasted hawk for dinner (pun intended)

And also this, even if their cousins my warden will make sure to anoyy the hell out of Hawke, maybe treat him as a brother like Alistair...my warden never had any siblings he could actually bond with. Bless him.

My warden would get along too well with my Hawke for there to be a fight. Which is a good thing since it would be over pretty quickly once Hawke opened with Vendetta as my Warden shuffled towards him. At least my Warden would have picked Hawke' pocket before he exploded.

But In all likelyhood they'd just form a merry gang of buccaneers with Isabela, Leliana and their dogs.

My Warden's dex made her nigh impossible to hit. She's like Elijah Wood's villain in Sin City, but faster and with way more hit points (and less evil). My mage Hawke *might* whittle her down to half a health bar if he survived the initial onslaught, but as soon as she's in melee range it's over.

Didn't they get rid of Animate Dead for DA2? Because that'd be about the only way my Warden could team up with my Hawke...

Isn't this the whole Goku vs. Superman argument?

Anyway, it depends on how you played both Hawke and the Warden, innit? Would be a fun fight, tho, since both are superbly preternaturally skilled warriors.

Which warden and which Hawke? My favourite warden would never side with my favourite Hawke. The warden I've written the most about would definitely side with my fave Hawke (mage + mage)

Hawke's not too interested in chasing his cousin through a magic mirror because some crazy dragon lady wants to go after her crazy **** of a daughter.

I just discovered this thread only a month late ugh... Anyway in terms of personality, both my warrior Human Male Warden and Warrior Male Hawk would get along just fine. They came out pretty much similar with the exception that my Warden love to fight and seeks revenge when wronged while my Hawk is more reserved and calm. Both are fairly straight arrows. Now if they were to fight each other, my Warden would win hands down. He's a dual wielding Warrior with both dexterity and strength compared to Hawk who use a two-handed sword with fairly decent strength but little dexterity. Plus, the Warden has twice as many skills and talents than Hawk.

Seeing as how the Bioware mods have now decided that you cannot discuss old threads on this forum, this one is likely to be locked... (or should be if they want to be consistent)

Unless of course, they want to demonstrate my suspicions that they only lock the negative threads, or ones with personal insults, and this no "necro" rule was just a weak excuse to quell some of the harsh criticism.

It's your loss Bioware, if you try to ignore some of the more 'harsh' criticism, you are simply just ignoring some very honest feedback.  It's to your own detriment to ignore the fact that a significant part of the consumer base is disgusted with your overall direction and emphasis in DA.
