I'm playing my first warrior in DA2, couldn't reallly get behind them before now, but I'm really enjoying the concept. My Warrior is a 2h, and I was leveling up Avaline and noticed how good the passive or two in the S&B tree is. Will those passives work while I have a 2h weapon(Sword/Axe/maul) equipped, or do I have to have a Sword and shield equipped for them to take effect?

I'm guessing they will. At least the inverse is true, for example Sunder works on 1h swords, too. Though you'll waste some points for unused skills.

Which passives? The one that says "Immune to flanking when a shield is equipped" or the one that says "immune to critical attacks when a shield is equipped."

FWIW, Sunder's crit chance will appear on your character, but not actually increase your crit chance unless you have a 2 hander equipped, the stagger chance works, iirc.

Their are rings etc. that can make you flank and crit immune.

Sunder works for sure. And ah, I must have missed the "when having a shield equipped" part. You're right, it shouldn't work without one then. Gear it is for you.

Oh and since this is your first playthrough I'd recommend reading some guide, the 2h warrior ones are especially exhaustive.

Hmm I think I recall sunder not working. I don't know about the stagger effect, but my crit chance drops if I switch from a 2H weapon.
