Alot of people seem to either go renegade or paragon just because they can, I want to know how many of you have a mixed alignment and choose based on what YOU would do?

I never play RPGs as myself because that'd be boring (and none of my avatars ever look like me). However, I have enjoyed playing paragade and renegon characters in ME because it feels more realistic and dynamic to do so.

The very first playthrough I do as myself, with my own face. The rest of them are done to try every other possible choice available.

I have one Shepard who I made look like me and whose decisions are pretty much the ones I would make (essentially all paragon).

I also have a full renegade Shepard just to see the other parts of the game and dialogue but, I have to say, playing her can sometimes be quite distasteful.

I quite enjoy my Renegade mix character, though. He's renegade to the bad guys but paragon to civilians and friends. He never makes renegade decisions that cause harm to civilians but he's quite happy to use renegade decisions to bring maximum pressure to bear on the enemy. I identify more with my pure paragon but I enjoy playing the mix. He's a little more liberated than me when it comes to chatting up three different women at once, too!

My first ME character was more or less 'me' in terms of morality, but even then I was playing a female character so there was a difference from the off. Generally my first character always reflects my own morals somewhat, with characters coming after that being much more heavily roleplayed.

I pretty much play myself. It's practically the same as playing Renegade though... with a dose of Paragon thrown in I guess. In ME2 I ended up with a full Renegade bar and a half full Paragon bar. I always click the Renegade interrupts and never the Paragon interrupts, cept for that dying Salarian on Thane's recruitment mission. I mean seriously... could anyone honestly let that guy die? Also, I did destroy the Collector base despite my renegadish nature.

Interesting. I never thought of it as "playing as myself". The first character I make, I usually start out picking "what I would pick", until I feel I've figured out the character. The characters never look like me, though...How boring would *that* be? :)

this, though i've split the base decision on 2 of my carry-over playthroughs.

If I'd play as myself I'd be stuck on the ship doing Rupert's job ;-)

I tried that once. Didn't work too well; the game clearly prefers that you stick to a particular alignment rather than alternating between both.

i think the very first time i played a wrpg where i could create a character i played as myself... but it's a lot more fun to play as an extreme side of yourself or just invent a new character altogether

I never play as myself - it's easy to say "I would do this", but without being in the situation you just don't know. Instead I create characters that I at least hope have enough thought going into them that they have mixed morality. None of my characters have one bar full and one empty.

I don't play as myself. Thinking about it, how boring would that go. An idealized version maybe. Never got to translate my looks in a game, so I just idealize something as them the rest I go "what would I choose". I think you can never "be yourself" or have "true roleplay" in fully scripted narrative. What you have is choice and consequence.

You need to do more of one than the other but you can certainly mix it up without compromising the game.

I have a mix with 100% Paragon bar, 45% Renegade and another mix with 100% Renegade bar, 70% Paragon and they never had an occasion where persuasion options were unavailable.

I'm actually thinking of doing another run through as a pure neutral. I suspect that really will hurt me but it will at least show me some parts of the game I've never seen before Image IPB

I never play as myself but it's hard not to have my personal feelings effect some of my decisions in-game.

Always play as a guide to the main character, moving them through their lives.

I have my main Shepard pick choices based on what I believe to be the right choice and he does have 'elements' of my personality but to say that I'm roleplaying myself would be inaccurate.

I play it as I would pretty much always, mainly paragon, but a good amount of renagade as well. But rarely use my own face given limitations in the CC.

Always...I mean, I love being immersed in a universe (game) where I choose everything...with my own thoughts in mind. I'm pretty much all paragon, but I also have a little section of Renegade...because lets face it...you almost HAVE to choose some renegade interrupts...like shooting at Mercs who are about to shoot at you...haha.

It makes the game super memorable and personal...which "amps up the intensity."Image IPB

With my main Shepard, yes, I do things the way I would do them. Sadly, I'm no where near as handsome.

I've never played a character based on myself. I just don't see the draw to it.

Well though my character doesn't look exactly the way I want him to (close enough I suppose), I tried to make my Shepard based on what I would generally do in his shoes. I mean I wouldn't just go around saying ""Screw you"" to everyone but I would generally try to be nice, helpful, and try and push some form of cooperative / collaberation amongst the greater universal/galactic community.

Though I wish I had an option to be more "sarcastic" at times without it actually being "Renegade" based...I mean seriously - in some spots you may want to be a Paragon but you might also want to make a joke like ""Yeah well unless you can use Biotics to fly...."" you know something cheezy but not something that's going to influence the conversation in a negative or positive way.

Kind of like an "interupt" but its just a seperate piece on the conversation wheel...Then it goes back to the original "Paragon/Renegade" etc choices.
