Hi all,
Ok so a similar problem to lots of poor unfortunates as Biowares masterpiece but riddled with pox games either won't install or have some other fiendish problem hidden within.

I'm a late entry into Dragon Age (after playing Baldurs Gate NVN etc years ago) and have just finished Origins.
I had patched Origins to 1.04 on my Windows 7, Q6600, 1GB ATI Radeon, 8 GB ram.
When trying to install Awakenings the game gets as far as:
'Preparing to extract ep1_core.rar......this may take several seconds)' then bam, quit to the very lovely instalation failed  screen.

So I hit the forums and found a few possible fixes, of which I have tried:
Complete uninstall of DA:O, then reinstall and patch to 1.03, then try DA:A - Failed
Followed the tips on deleting temp files, closing down applications before trying DA:A - Failed
Patch DA:O 1.03 to 1.04, then try DA:A - Failed

So I'm suitably annoyed now.
Can anyone help?

Wait, just found a page (EA games) where there's a recommendation to run the disc's 'setup' file in compatibility mode with Windows 2000.
The installer is running right now!
