the new gun sound is awesome :wizard:. i was hoping they'll show an example of the gun sound interacting/blending with the environment (firing in an outdoor/indoor setting) while watching the vid.

In the video, you can see one of the screens in the background showing the pause menu, except it's neither a blue nor an orange menu. Could that be ME3? :wizard:

it could be, it does display something (resources?) at the lower part of the screen.

I hope the sound/visual team makes more of an effort to highlight the fact that the weapons in the ME universe are mass accelerating railguns firing paint chip-size metal shavings. If one hadn't played ME1 and didn't pay attention to the codex, ME2's visual and audio design would give the impression that the weapons were simply firing standard bullet ammunition.

That's what I liked about (some of) the ME1 guns. The pistol was too pew-pew, but it sounded sci-fi. Also, I like the lack of muzzle flash on the ME1 weapons (there was blue light, but not an explosive flash).

I hope they will bring back the sounds of kinetic barriers being hit from ME1.

I liked what he said about making sure that they had the "retro-futuristic vibe" in ME3, and about discontinuing the move toward the "dude/bro" style.

I loved how iconic the atmosphere and the sights/sounds of ME1 were; as important as the visual/audio style of the original Star Wars was to cementing the "soul" of that franchise, I thought the audio/visual flair of ME1 was just as important to the ME universe (well, as far as Bioware's trilogy goes). In the spirit of this style, I think the new AR effect sounds right at home, honestly. It's like a balanced cross between the booming ARs of ME1 and the lighter, articulated ARs of ME2.

All sounds great in that video. The new AR sounds really good, it definitely packs a punch. Great job.

The highlight for me though is that they're going for that retro-futuristic vibe in the music and sound. Fantastic.

He also mentioned that sometimes the music desensitizes players, it can but... I still feel ambient music is an important part to me. Audio is just as important as visual, and if they brought back ambient music I'd be so happy, even if it loops every few minutes or so. There has to be a balance.

Anyway, good stuff GI and Rob Blake.
