Hello

I just have a quick question, is Shale good or evil? I really want to play with him and i have both a "good" group and an "evil" one so i just need to know were to put him.

She's more "evil" than "good".

She's pretty much neutral.
She approves of random good or bad things, but overall mostly neutral.

SPOILER:

-may turn in orzaammar following evil path.

Um, I'm pretty sure that Shale will attack if you attack if you side with Branka, but I'm not certain.

The closest to evil in the game is Morrigan. There's good characters like Leliana and Alistair, and everyone else is amoral or neutral, like Zevran and Sten. Unless you're a bird, Shale is pretty neutral to most of what you do. But killing Caradin, who knows more of her past, causes her to turn against you.

Wynne is also a goodie, she probably approves more of helping others than alistair and leliana.
Though having some evil character with goodies generates super fun banter - i havent yet had a chance to see what shale is like as my stone prisoner quest is bugging.
Morrigan vs. alistair is funny, but morrigan vs. wynne is a bit scarey - keep thinking they gonna fight each other.

For me Shale is one of most neutral characters. She is rough, yes... but not strictly evil. As is Morrigan since she wants power over anything else - without being ruthless though. Both Shale and Morrigan are just different than your Goody Two-Shoes Alistair or "UHHH Schmooples!" Leliana.

Too bad there arent any truly evil characters like in BG2. Korgan was a blast to have around:
"If I wanted to listen to yer yip, ye prissy elf, I’d pull ye over my knee and smack yer bottom. At least then I’d have meself something interesting to do while ye blathered on."
Oghren seems like a bland dwarf-stereotype copy of Korgan, at best. =(

I like how Shale has names for everyone, such as Morrigan being "swamp witch".

You want scary? Check out the (bugged) love triangle dialogue between Morrigan and Leliana. For starters, Leliana calls Morrigan a "cruel **** who will get [her] commupance". Those two really would rip eachother apart.

In terms of a grouping, go with 'evil', as Shale will rarely disapprove of you doing 'evil' things - the one big exception being preserving the Anvil of the Void where Shale will always turn on you.
As a character though Shale is almost completely amoral, having no discernable moral code at all - just a chip on the shoulder and a vindictive streak a mile wide. A very interesting (and darkly funny) character,
I put Sten in this 'evil' category too. He approves of you abandoning Redcliffe, killing Connor, culling the mages, desecrating the Ashes, making a deal with Caladrius... keep him around in your 'evil' party and his approval will go through the roof. Though as a character he is much more complex, obviously.

Sten is one person who's easier to like the more you get to know him, especially if you pick the "correct" dialogue responses.

Ive never had leliana and morrigan in the same party for long enough as i usually have wynne in every gameplay (except evil warden mage) and if im not a mage i have morrigan as well, i only use leliana before i find wynne (or if wynne is dead) and during morrigan loyalty mission (in which morrigan i leave at camp)

That's all of Morrigan and Leliana's banter.

Morrigan and Wynne are the two that are annoying to have in the same party together. I usually leave Morrigan at the camp unless I'm playing an "evil" character who Wynne might not approve of.

I say the ladies should just settle their differences with a good old fashioned pillow fight.
