Kelly Chambers - What are her chances?

Yes she may be absent, but the same is true of all ME2 squaddies too. I have a feeling we'll definitely see her, but I've got a worrying feeling that she'll either be killed in the first five minutes, or will just have a small cameo with no reference to the romance made at all.
I could be wrong - when she's not there in ME2, EDI fills in for her. For all we know, if she's absent in ME3, this will again be the case, otherwise she may be back at her old post.
It's just after playing through the game again recently, I've noticed just how much dialogue she actually has; I already think of her as just as integral to the Normandy as Joker or Dr Chakwas. The main thing is that technically speaking she's a pointless character (fyi one of my personal favourites), and her role can be filled easily by EDI - so what do you think her chances of actually returning are? And if she does will the slate be wiped clean, or will Shepards that did her romance get to continue it?

AND I NEVER WILL
Her chances should be good because she's the best character in the game. You say no to that face:

I dare you.

I'm telling you... Shepard's like "Well, Kelly, we're done with Cerberus now." And she's all like "Ok, Shepard, turn around while I slip off this Cerberus jumpsuit and put on the nice Alliance jumpsuit. You know how shy and demure I am." And Shepard's all like "Ok." But she's still peaking over her shoulder... which is how Shepard keeps from having a narwhal driven into her spinal column by Kelly The Assassin.
I've seen stuff like this happen before. It's hardcore, man. Hardcore.

That's what you picked up on, not the narwhal? I think that subconsciously you know she can kill a person with a sea mammal and feel no remorse.

Well, she does have many talents. Stranger things have happened in ME.

Doesn't make any sense though. She would cuddle with narwhal not use it as a weapon.

@Mars: Let me guess, you didn't go after the IFF immediately when given the choice?

I think cameo is the most we can expect knowing that she can be so easily be dead at the end of ME2.
Yeah, she's the crewmate who's most likely to die on any given playthrough. I wouldn't be surprised to hear she's dead in most playthroughs.

She's not going to be in my game, at least not my first one. I don't know how it happened, but I screwed up somehow and lost her and half the crew.
That happens when you don't go immediately through the Omega 4 relay after the Collectors abduct the crew.

Actually if you activate Legion before going to the galaxy map then you have some time to do his loyalty mission and maybe one more before the collectors kill Kelly and half the crew.

Which is a shame, because honestly, ever since Dragon Age: Origins, I've been wishing that bioware would do relationships with supporting cast members. I mean, You've got this whole approval/disapproval thing going in that game. Why not extend that to the NPCs that hang out in your camp/ship? Work them into the story? Let you develop friendships and possible romances with people that aren't actual squadmates? Bioware has said before that Kelly and Ken were originally intended to be an experiment in non-squaddie LI's. I'd like to see that experiment carried forward.

This kind of thing is a pretty good example of how incredibly difficult it's going to be for Bioware to cover all of the variables to everyone's satisfaction in this game. I guess we'll see. I would kinda like to see her come back as a proper LI option, but I don't think it's likely. She'll -be- there, I figure, but I'd be surprised if they put a lot of resources into fleshing out the relationship.

My Sheploo would have been very tempted to romance Chakwas and have flings with Shiala and Gianna. Oh and naturally my canon Femshep would love to end up with TIM.
So yeah, non-squaddie LI and flings should have been there since the start.
