Has anyone seen the slowed down version of the cutscene where the countdown in "arrival" runs out? The part where Kelly's head explodes was scary. >_<

Yeah, that was really something. I think she will have an 'important' role in ME3...

That's something to think about actually - not only is hers the death we see if Shepard fails to stop the Reapers, but she is standing with the squadmates/crew/TIM in that cutscene. Here's hoping that means they consider her one of the core characters...

I think Kelly should have a bit more of an expanded role if she survives.

It's kinda funny that given she was supposed to be the ship's counselor (or Shepard's personal one?), she didn't really *do* much of it. Assuming she's given more of an expanded role if she lived in one's game (she only died in one of mine by accident, though that PT is no longer canon), I'd like to see her be more professional in that regard.

Although given what Cerberus is trying to do in ME3, it'll be interesting to see where her true loyalties lie...

If any of her behavior in ME2 is genuine, I suspect she'll feel shocked and betrayed when Cerberus turns on Shepard, honestly.

It sounds to me that events of Mass Effect 3 may rely on many of the decisions made in the prior two Mass Effect titles. One of the seemingly more important decisions was when Shepard decides to chase down his/her crew; a decision that results in the death of majority of the crew if you dally to long.

As a player who wants to remain immersed in the story as it continues from one chapter to the next I am hoping to continue to adventure with my loyal crew who I fought so hard to rescue. It may be appealing to some that they command an empty and desolate Normandy.

Whatever choices the player previously made they have an unlimited number of loads to reassign their decisions to derive whatever path is most rewarding for them.

I think because Kelly Chambers is a member of the crew and possible love interest in Mass Effect 2 that she will carry on in Mass Effect 3 (if she survived). Players should also be able to continue to pursue the romance with Kelly Chambers if started during Mass Effect 2, because this again would emphasize the player’s choice and control over his/her story.

No, you can do Legion's loyalty mission, then go through and save them all as long as you don't do any other missions. I did Legion's loyalty mission, mined for enough platinum to research the Widow for it, then went straight through the Omega-4 Relay. I should have been fine.

The mining for platinum did it...I have read on other threads that you can do 2 missions after picking up the IFF, so long as Legions is the second (I haven't tested that myself), but it was also noted on that thread, that if you mine at all, you loose some crew.

If the Reapers can be sexually active, I'd say very high.

I wouldnt mind her as Yeoman still. She isn't popular enough to have a main romance though.

Loved talking to Kelly in ME2, I would definitely be disappointed if she didnt retake her post on the Normandy for ME3

I was hoping she would play a larger role in the recent Arrival DLC. I thought my Shepard needed some emotional counsel. Not Admiral Hack. A nice back rub would had been nice and some pills.
Kelly knows how to party.

This kind of thing is a pretty good example of how incredibly difficult it's going to be for Bioware to cover all of the variables to everyone's satisfaction in this game. I guess we'll see. I would kinda like to see her come back as a proper LI option, but I don't think it's likely. She'll -be- there, I figure, but I'd be surprised if they put a lot of resources into fleshing out the relationship.

Which is a shame, because honestly, ever since Dragon Age: Origins, I've been wishing that bioware would do relationships with supporting cast members. I mean, You've got this whole approval/disapproval thing going in that game. Why not extend that to the NPCs that hang out in your camp/ship? Work them into the story? Let you develop friendships and possible romances with people that aren't actual squadmates? Bioware has said before that Kelly and Ken were originally intended to be an experiment in non-squaddie LI's. I'd like to see that experiment carried forward.

If I could have any crewmate as a LI it would be Gabbie.  *drool*

The Alliance is unlikely to leave a majority Cerberus recruited crew in the new Normanday, I'm afraid.

Kelly always seemed a sub par character to me. I'm pretty indifferent to the question of her return. It would be cool to see her and if she's not there then I won't be like "Omg Bioware where is Chambers? The game is ruined!". Really she didn't have too much real substance behind her character aside from "Hi. I'm here to tell you when you have messages and I love everything that moves."

Off topic, but i have to credit Bioware for going to the effort of making a cutscene like that...i can't help but think some of the stuff in there gave us a sneaky glimpse of what we might see when the Reapers come. I think by them adding that helped them ram home the fact that hey, these Reapers are coming and they don't f*** around.

I always liked Kelly because of her friendly attitude and stuff. She's one of the few characters in the game that i just can't behave like an ass towards. I think we'll see her in the game. Of course we don't know what the situation is with the story but if Shepard ends up with the Normandy again and a full fledged crew, i can honestly see her being part of it and resuming her role that she had on before.

I never knew about EDI taking over her role though should Kelly not survive the SM/Collector abduction.

A character so useless, so devoid of a personality, that she made Sigourney Weaver's vapid protagonist in Galaxy Quest look both useful and interesting?

Not a chance. I hope.

I find the prospect of having my choices impacting the events of my game as exciting. The prospect of killing off a character can be just as fulfilling as ensuring someone’s survival. Those choices to be meaningful shouldn’t end with that chapter of the game. Much of the power of a sequel comes from continuity, you know what has happened before and with whom that leaves the hero in his/her current situation.

Resources must be spent to continue those delineations. Those resources are not wasted it is those delineations that build into the replay ability of the game, but more importantly to me is it personalizes the experience where some of the details of my adventure will be different from those a friend.

Since she is currently dead, I doubt she will return to my playthrough.

She is a minor character, even of less importance than Dr Chakwas or joker

Her chances should be good because she's the best character in the game. You say no to that face:

Kelly should be seen utilizing her counceling skills on the crew in times of emotional loss. Mass effect is still kinda lacking in character showing remorse and grieving. Kelly should provide the player with emotional counceling and evaluation.
