How does "hardening" party members affect the ending?

(First off, obviously, any outcome with a dead Logain means godbaby, or you or Alistair die.)
But if you strike the killing blow I think Anora will still refuse the marriage if Alistair twice insisted on her father's death, regardless of who actually kills him. To the best of my knowledge a
Alistair + Anora
Dead Logaine
No God Baby
ending requires a hardened Alistair. Which given our present understanding of that is strange, since you make Alistair into a more responsible person at the Landsmeet by basically telling him something rather amoral and nasty, and not very related to "maturity" or responsibility. I'm curious if maybe other dialogue/plot options work and everyone's just assuming "Everyone is out for themselves" is the key because it was the first into a strategy guide or whatever. I know what a plot perfectionist I'm being, but I'd rather not have to say something so out of character to achieve my perfectly manicured ending.

I'm not even entirely sure if just that response is sufficient; silly me did the persuade option at Goldana's and now the whole situation is horribly ambiguous, since he promised to help her while I convinced him to man up afterwards.
Unless there's a simple way to check before the Landsmeet part starts I guess I'll end up reloading an hour back to be on the safe side :b

Yes. She is working at the behest of Queen Anora to investigate the darkspawn. For example finding the locations of the broodmothers. That Anora is a very smart woman and Leliana is quite the badass.
Did you romance her?

Not a big difference, no. Hardening Alistair is required to continue relationships with him as a female character (Secret romance and all). Leliana will appear differently, instead of chantry robes she'll wear leather. Beyond that I don't know. Possibly some other dialogue replies.

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Certainly at some point you'll have to harden him unless you want the romance to disappear completely...

I thought you have to harden him to continue on as his secret lover (when not human noble PC) when he marries Anora and becomes king. Otherwise he'll dump you when he becomes king.

That might be the case, I honestly haven't tried putting him on the throne quite yet, but if he doesn't ascend the throne no hardening is needed to stay in a relationship with him.Tamyn wrote...

In my second playthrough i plan on hardening him.. How will this affect the ending, however, if i plan to follow the same scenario? A friend told me he becomes very cool, but let's say i still want to romance him, will that be possible? Will he be the sweet funny Alistair who was before the hardening, or will he become macho?

It doesn't. That's the first ending I got and I never hardened Alistair. I was the one who killed Anora's father, though.

If anyone got Alistair + Anora monarchy with a Logaine sacrifice, post so?
I was able to convince Alistair to marry Anora during the Landsmeet after sparing Loghain. In the end I had him sacrifice himself... I really should see what happens if I go through with Morrigan's ritual and leave Loghain alive AND having Alistair/Anora married.
