So I am looking for suggestions on which teammates to bring along on active missions, if I want the most entertaining npc commentary.

And yes, I am using the term best quite loosely!
Also I want to emphasize that I'm not looking for combat performance or any statistical optimization, I want to try to get the most bang for my buck in terms of story, chatter, and character development from a single playthrough. Kind of subjective, I know.

Some quick background-
I downloaded all the available DLC (well except for the appearance packages, I'm not rich enough to be frivolous haha), this is going to be my big blowout playthrough in preparation for ME3
I haven't played for over a year, the first time around I stopped right around the point of crossing over the relay, and my active mission squad consisted almost exclusively of a garrus/miranda/grunt rotation except when not otherwise possible.
I don't really find Mordin or Jacob all that interesting personally. It's just a preference don't flip out on me

Any advice, recommendations, snarky comments? Maybe there is already a post devoted entirely to just this topic or something similar?

Kasumi's funny if you take her on Grunt's recruitment mission.  When/If you run into Rana Thanoptis, she says, "She seems nice.  You know, in a mad-scientist-ethics-for-sale kind of way."

Garrus has some great lines if you take him on Mordin's loyalty mission. He's also a beast with a sniper rifle.

It's impossible not to be bros with Garrus. Jacob's a drinking bro. Mordin's a singing bro.Legion is also a bro, but a bro that takes some getting used to.

yup must agree Garrus is the biggest bro character. I always felt bro with Wrex too though. Bro love let him live.

I have been pleasantly surprised by Zaeed!
His demeanor reminds me of a Tech Sgt I knew in the Air Force and his comments so far on two missions have been consistently funny. Ive been reluctant to pair him up with Garrus though seeing as how my shep is an Infiltrator and that makes a whole lot of redundant abilities/weaponry.

Garrus is definitely my bro as well. That's how I've felt ever since Mass Effect. I just feel the need to have Garrus along for most missions, no matter what class I play.

To answer the topic question, I must say Alistair and Morrigan, even though its an entirely different game.

Personally I love playing Infiltrator with Zaeed and Garrus (or Thane instead of either of them) for maximum sniping ownage.
