Those new drivers work perfectly with Dragon Age 2, had no crash or freezing while playing

I thought the same at first but soon enough a crash to the desktop with sound still going.

Let's face it this game will NEVER be fixed for many of us who want to use DX11. Two patches a beta and now a driver update and the same thing happens.

I won't be buying Bioware games anymore as long as Direct X 11 is involved. Now I have to go back to DX 9. Stuff all of them for not getting this right. I paid a hell of a lot of money for a new GTX 580 and add DA2 to that and it's a small fortune for nothing to play on DX 9.

hmm just installed latest drivers and have managed to have 30mins of crash free gameplay for the first time ever on very high/dx11. Am not holding my breath but at least I can see improved graphics on my second playthough (so far).

EDIT: Yep it crashed after another 10mins play (DA2 not responding - sound stuck in loop so needs reboot again). Ah well.

The game works very well on my PC (which has a GTX 580). It's unfortunate that some people are having continued problems but it has worked acceptably for me since release.

I'm really enjoying playing Dragon Age 2! (part way through 2nd playthrough)

I'm running a GTX 470 with DX11 with the high rez textures. I've had no problems whatsoever in terms of pc crashing or freezing. FYI, I also have NO MODS installed!

So far, in looking at the release notes, these are simply the WHQL certified version of the Beta drivers that were released a few weeks ago. I don't see any changes in the readme notes. I wouldn't expect much over what was already in the Beta drivers. I would think the next release will see some changes.

I've been using the beta version of these with DX11 since they were released with no issues (with DA2 or any other game), so perhaps those of you still getting crashes/freezes etc might have other issues with their systems than the graphics drivers ?

I had no issues with the 270.51 drivers. Zero crashes using them.

After installing the WHQL 270.61, I had my first crash in weeks. The framerates overall seem slightly improved over the beta driver though. Meh...

Like I wrote in another thread, 270.61 are of no use for me, in DX11 it crashes after a few seconds: from this point of view, 266.66 were better, because at least i was able to play withouth crash in DX11 with High settings, now it's impossible. GTX560 here, any other DX11 game works fine.

Doesn't seem to be any different from the beta geforce/ion driver 270.51, performance-wise.

GTX 460, running in DX11. The 267.24 betas fixed the black squares and dreadful framerates. But the game would crash a lot. The 270.51 drivers seemed to work perfectly. Then I installed the official 270.61 drivers and within 20 minutes or so the game crashed. Back to the 270.51 for me.

It's weird that many of you had no change with crashing/freezing issues. For me these drivers eliminated those problems completely

Just speaking from personal experience, I had a lot of crashes too on GTX 570 before with similar symptoms. Crash after 2 mins of play, sound keeps going for a while, green squares appearing on screen...etc.

I managed to isolate the problem down to the factory overclock that was done to my card, which I wasn't even aware of until I downloaded the MSI Afterburner software, clicked the restore button to restore my GPU speed to normal, then I bumped up the CPU voltage a little, and since then, no more crash for me. So I would advise everyone having crash to at least try remove the factory overclock.

I would try that but my card is at standard clock setting as far as I know. I got a 580 through step up, and as far as I know it is a regular clock, it is the lowest clock so I am assuming its not over clocked. I could be wrong. Its at 772. I am hesitant to change it, are you sure there are not negative effects to turning down the clock speed?

772 MHZ is, indeed, the standard clock frequency for the GPU on a GTX 580.

Okay, so this is ridiculous. Would you suggest I turn it down lower? I am getting so sick of this problem, I love how it has not been addressed at all in either patch.

But the point is: why i have to underclock a graphic card that can withstand 4 hours or more of Metro 2033 or Crysis at max settings withouth any problem? I payed for that factory overclock, it works with any DX11 game out there, doesnt work only with DA2, as a result it's a problem of DA2 -and dont tell me that the graphic complexity of this game in DX11 justifies is heaviness- and I have no intention to underclock anything -as i have never overclock anything-.

One thing to note, is that you are defaulted to 30% fan speed after updating drivers. Make sure you are back at 100% before playing. The new drivers didn't fix my problem, but running the card at 30% cooling can contribute to overheating and shut downs.

yeah I always have a higher fan speed when I game. Normally 75 %
