Wide Screen issues

I got the patch last night, and started a new playthrough, however this time I've noticed a few things that I haven't seen before. I'm seeing fire and mist appear in the black margins at th bottom of the screen during conversations. So far (early on) It happened duringt he first visit to Gamlen's home, talking to Varric about finding Anders (and his maps) and at the beginning of Long Way Home, when Merrill and I are about to enter the cavern before performing the ritual with Flemeth.

It's not a big issue, but certainly distracting and I hadn't noticed it in my first 1 1/2 playthroughs.

EDIT: Happened during the scene when I introduced Merrill to the alienage too.

This is still an issue. It's beginning to get more and more distracting, like sometimes the margins are ignored or the bottom is looping around to the top of the screen.

I noticed this too after the patch. At first I thought "Nah maybe it was already there. It has been awhile after all and I was playing with an already messed up screen at the time" (SDTV user). I first caught it when I started a new game. When you and your family are escaping and take a quick break to go over your options, there it was smoke in the background clear as day extending to the black borders of the screen. Since I'm on SD I'm playing on fullscreen. Is this showing on legit widescreen mode?

No, when I said wide screen what I meant to say was the black margins. I'm playing full screen.

I get this too. background effects will pop above the cutscene letterboxing. Fire, smoke, clouds, lighting will ignore what render layer its on and show up on either the top letterbox or the bottom.
I could see this stray beam of blue light during a cutscene in the Deep Roads. It was the one where the crew found the entrance to the Primeval Thaig, I believe, and I could see a diagonal blue light crossing under where the two human excavators were standing in the background.

Another case of the broken letterbox would be during the conversation between Varric and Cassandra after the end of Act 1. The top of Cassandra's head was just barely cropped off by the letterboxing, and somehow the top of her head would duplicate directly above where her head was cropped, with jaggy edges. There would be two of these duplications that went all the way to the edge of the screen.

I really appreciate what the team is doing for fixing these graphical glitches! Before the patch, cutscenes were frequently interrupted with the character models 'flickering' as if they were trying to adjust or decide if the game was in widescreen or not. I'm glad you guys fixed this, among other various things! I hope eventually the game will reach its intended level of 'finished'!

Count me as another case of wide screen issues. At one time the bars at the top and bottom simply showed up solid yellow/orange, preventing me from reading the subtitles. Most of the time, objects from the cutscene simply overlap into the black margins and corrupt them.

I assumed this was somehow a result of them fixing the flickering character issue (in cutscenes, characters would flicker like images in an old reel of film), and I'd much prefer this issue to that one, but it does get distracting.

Just checked this topic again, it's good to know I'm not the only one, but are the devs working on it? I hadn't seen anything when I posted this, and I don't feel like going through all of the topics.
