Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I'm using the Standard Big World install of BG1+BG2+expansions, and I'm on the final battle vs Irenicus in hell.  The strangest thing happens when the fight begins...
I cast a firestorm and stinking cloud on the spot where he's going to appear.  He does so, then we do the dialogue, and he summons the 4 demons and the fight begins.  The aoe spells have done some damage to him at this point, and he just runs backwards (north) into the black door and disappears completely!
I then fight and kill the summoned demons, and he *never* comes back. I have no clue what's happening. I can't save or rest at this point (monsters are near), and I can't exit.  I'm stuck, and he never comes back.
I'm wondering if this is caused by a glitch in one of the Standard install mods that come with Big World?  If anyone can give me any tips (perhaps how to remove any mods that may affect Irenicus?) I'd be greatly appreciative.
Thanks!
ps - Could this be because of my aoe spells I cast beforehand? I've tried the encounter without them, but Irenicus timestops *twice* and kills my entire party before I can do anything. That's an issue with my naive gameplay style though, not a bug. Though, I get the impression that he is this difficult because of a mod? Can I get rid of that mod somehow?

Yes, it's due to the aoe spells. Doing damage like that when a script is supposed to run can break the script. I'd recommend not doing it and trying a different tactic (or, as you say, removing a mod, although I'm not sure which you might be using).

Big world? I'm trying that, although I'm still in BG1, but there are at least 100 mods. The culprit is probably SCS2 though.

Do you have a high level thief? Try a spike trap, you might be lucky. A time trap / assassinate combo should remove the demons, which can actually be backstabbed. It is hard to do standard backstabs because they can see through invisibility, but assasinate should work. The demons are not really the problem though.

You probably need 3-4 warding whips to take his defences down. Can't remember if I've ever tried SCS2 Irenecus.

Have you tried casting a high level detect invisibility type spell and then searching the southern portion of the map? JI does run awayand hides when seriously hurt as part of the normal vanilla script.

What happens if one plants spike traps in front of the gate where he appears? Does he die instantly?

Yeah, you're right. I cheated my way through it without the aoe spells and indeed it worked out fine. He didn't run away and disappear. So now I just need to find a way around his insanely powerful double time stop.

Thanks!

Hm, good point. I'll try that.  I did try "true vision" (true sight?) and searching around, but no luck. I'll try detect invis. Thanks.

I have a thief, but she's dual-classed, so she may not have the skill. I'll check.  The trouble with the warding whips is that I need time to cast them. With his two consecutive time stops, it's basically impossible.

I'll check if it's SCS2, thanks! That's what I was looking for. Now I need to find out how to uninstall mods...

I wouldn't uninstall SCS2 with big world, it's amazing it works at all, I wouldn't push it by removing mods. What you could do is edit an item in near infinity to give immunity to time stop. Of course you'd have to take it off again afterwards ...

Ah, good idea. I'll give it a shot.
