I have all the other stuff; how do I access my ore? I've tried, but I don't see what to do with it.

I still need help figuring out what's wrong with crafting.

You don't "do" anything with it. If you have the required ore in your list of trade goods, you meet that requirement of the magical recipe. Check the other requirements of the specific recipe (spells, gems, skill level, gold) and if you meet them all, stand near the crafting station and click on the recipe scroll. The new item simply shows up in the party leader's inventory.

Thanks for the clarification; unfortunately, it doesn't work at all. I have everything I need to forge a suit of full plate. I go up to the forge, click on the blueprints, it says "[party leader] uses item's special power," the party leader makes a motion...and nothing happens.

Does the party leader have all of the required skills or does another character need to be present?

Another character is necessary - and is there.

Well as far as game mechanics, it sounds like you've got everything covered. The most logical conclusion is you still have something incompatible installed or worse, some type of file corruption issue. There are ways to work around this but crafting custom items definitely makes life easier.

Anything more to suggest, anyone? I'd like to be able to actually fix this.

You've already said that emptying your override folder didn't help, and you said that the necessary scripts are present, so there's nothing further I can investigate.  Your SoZ crafting scripts aren't firing for unknown reasons.

As I recall, the crafting scripts have some #includes.  You may have old/incompatible versions that got compiled into your crafting scripts.  Maybe you should download the SOZ crafting expansion and try it, since that should replace (take priority over) the scripts you currently are using.

Also, look in your SOZ campaign folder for anything extraneous.

Well, if he's somehow recompiled those scripts with missing or different #includes, then I'd be concerned that many other scripts are also recompiled into dysfunction.

there's an issue with The Complete Craftsman, if relevant, in that it contains some redundant #includes that, when using a GUI, recompile on-the-fly

'ginc_crafting' in particular, i think

@kevL: Is The Complete Craftsman another modpack or whatever? As far as I know, Kaedrin's thing is the only additional such thing I've got.

@I_Raps: Thank you very much, I certainly have not tried that - where can I find it?

Also, where exactly would these problem scripts be located?

yes, you should search your documents' /Override directory for 'ginc_crafting'

you might also check your installation's /Override directory to make sure it's clear. (nothing should go there)

There doesn't appear to be anything by that name there (my Program Files' Override directory has the Kaedrin's Pack stuff there, but that's it).

To reiterate what kevL said, nothing should go in the override in your Program Files.

this isn't *that* important but you should move that stuff (Kaedrin's) from the ProgramFiles \Override to your Documents\NwN2\Override

make sure it moves and not just copies, if you know what i mean,

Done. I wasn't sure whether "Installation" was the same as "Program Files."

you could try it into your \Override next to Kaedrin's

neither do i, I don't use SoZ crafting style.

Kaldor or _Raps et al. might elaborate ....

in the meantime, just try to craft something IG while it's active in \Override.

Okay, I've just tried that. I'm not sure how to make it work, though....

It works exactly like the SOZ crafting that has been described;  it adds many recipes that you can buy from the various merchants.  The critical thing for your purposes is that it should replace whatever corrupted scripts you've been trying to get to work.  *** note that I'm referring to the other mod posted below ***

Stand your whole party next to a blacksmith's bench, select your main PC, open his inventory, dbl-click the arms/armor recipe book, then click on the recipe.

I have found it expedient (especially using that expansion) to give ALL the crafting supplies to the main PC.

...

Also, the SOZ campaign folder I referred to is in your program files/.../nwn2 folder;  I don't recall the exact name, but it should be apparent (something like campaign3 or the like).

I don't know if that's the one I used;  the readme says it allows new recipes without modding 2das and that rings no bells;  maybe I just overlooked that and went ahead modding the 2das needlessly.

One thing there leapt out at me:    5/29/11 update made to correct a bug in the crafting kinc_bb_crafting include file (and k_mod_activate) that prevented recipes from working if they had no spell requirements...

... such as plate armor.  That rings a bell - I think the bug he's talking about was in the original SOZ-supplied files.

......

I think this is the one I'm familiar with:   SoZ Crafting Expansion by Jake Zahn

Okay, that one is apparently a ".rar" file - my computer doesn't appear to recognize it, at least not easily. What program opens it?

Also, let's say I go with the one kevL provided - one installs it simply by putting the files in my Override directory, just like Kaedrin's, right (aside from stuff it specifically says to put elsewhere)? Because I just tried that, and it doesn't appear to be enough to work (at least not for that specific patch - good observation, I_Raps!).

Download winrar from a trusted site - that's the easiest.  Some will swear by other programs that have more features or work with more formats.

What you will extract from the Zahn mod will be a folder full of files.  Put the whole folder intact in your

My Documents/..../nwn2/override folder.

...

I can't speak for the other mod specifically, but it should work the same (you should create a new subfolder in override and throw everything in there).  It looks like you need to download all four zips - unzip the first one - sozcraftingplus_system.zip -  into your new subfolder (winrar will do .zips as well as .rars), then unzip each patch in order (oldest to newest) responding yes when asked if you want to overwrite earlier files.

...

I wouldn't recommend trying both together at first.  Maybe after you've got the basic functionality in place ...
