I've tried looking through these forums for the answers to these questions, as they are likely already answered, but I thought I'd see if anyone can point me in the right direction. :)

1 - Replace the "Iconic" Morph with a custom Morph

I've been told that morphs can be extracted from a save file into a format that can be used to create a new .mor file, but I can't seem to find the tool or tutorial. Help or a link would be appreciated.

2 - Replace the "Exaggerated" Bethany model with another model

There's a mod that replaces Bethany's normal model with the exaggerated version, but I can't seem to figure out how to replace the exaggerated model with the Grey Warden model (mostly because I can't find the Grey Warden model to extract.) All I really need are the filenames and the .erf to look in, and I should be able to do the rest.

Heya, I realize that this may not be exactly what you've asking for, but take a look at the mod at the Nexus that swaps iconic Bethany with either grey warden or circle one.

Also, here is the guide on modding the .mop files

The Bethany/Carver model swap was exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

I'll look into the .mop editing, it may be what I meant in my OP.

Extracting a Morph using gff editor

This is where the face morph info is in your save game
From your save game:
Open SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
Open SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR
Scroll down to SAVEGAME_PLAYER_MORPH; click on this and then right click on the box (with all the numbers and letters) below and choose export file; name it something special so you can find it.

This is the information you need to change the morph of whomever or to make a new one. I'm not very good at explaining things but I hope this will help you some :)

Edit: Also you can right click and copy the whole savegame_player_morph line and then paste it into another save game.

I'm having a bit of trouble making the chargen .mop file from your method DreGregoire (is there something that converts .mor into .mop?), but I got the rest to work. :)

Thanks to everyone that's posted so far, I finally got this:

Now all I need is a working .mop...

I basically did a cut and past format. I copied the .mop and .mor files into a different (new) folder and then modified those to upload into the game. So I copied and pasted the needed changes from my save game morph into the modified files. Does that make sense? I'm sure somebody has an easier way, but that's how I did it :)

I just renamed the exported .mor and used it, but the file needs some editing to make a proper .mop. I'll see what I can do (with copy/paste)...

Indeed. Then I wouldn't have to dechiper what I hope is binary. ;p

The GFF editor character morph dump saves as a MOR file. You can not directly convert MOR to MOP they are completely different data. The only person I know of that has actually converted one by hand is marquiseondore.

You can easily add the following to your chargen under female heads:

<resource name="hf_iconicfemale_normark.mop"/>
<resource name="hf_iconicfemale.mop"/>

Aren't those already in the chargenmorph xml? Or do you mean somewhere else?

Unless you used Chargen Revamp. The ones already in the chargenmorph.xml can not be modded. I think it has to do with it's placing, ie the first three mops are locked?  You can mod your mop and create a mor using the DragonAge Face Replacer which you can then in turn replace the iconic mor.

After looking at the differences in data between .mor and .mop, I'm a little confused. Is there a way to dechipher the .mor data in a way that could allow (manual) edits to a .mop to essentially copy the .mor to .mop format?

I'm really starting to wish I had started with .mop files...

You can use my tutorial.
Download the mop set there and try it out.
