Dammit, why do people hate on cliff hangers?? They make Morrowind even more fantastic imo (by making it actually dangerous and believable via these carnivorous threats from the sky)...

It's just the haters. Those who can't get their games convenient, exploited and cheated enough. We others, who love the cliff racers, say nothing. And as there are more people not saying anything, it's hard to judge what people really think. This is an important reason why developers shouldn't listen to gamers so much.
Was, for instance, DA's golden art style destroyed because a few morons swaggered about on forums, claiming it was too much like LotR, thinking themselves so clever?
(I think it's more compounded than so, but that argument was used by Bioware to justify the changes)
Cliff Racers are an important part of the Morrowind experience. They and other wildlife represents the hardships you have to endure during long travels. They deplete you and can make things really interesting and epic. Ever been badly wounded, equipment detoriated, lost in the ashland, trying to reach civilisation and healing with your last strands of health? Cautiosly sneaking around, trying to circle cliffhangers? Epic and unique gaming experiences. Wouldn't be without them. Besides they're excellent archery practice.
It would be so cool if the hardships of journeying could be simulated in another way, but hey Bethesda makes these games for consoles. Morrowind was for the original XBox even. And there's so much they cram into them.

With all my respect sir, weren't those carnivorous bird-like creatures cliff racers?

I SO love you! In a completely platonic, Sebastian way, of course. Ah, if only I had more sigs to quote people in...bEVEsthda wrote...

Personally, I wouldn't have minded the new art style if it had at least looked consistent and not mega-cheap. (I haven't played Assassin's Creed 2, but isn't that exactly the same color range (grey, beige, red) (or even the same look)?
Following the general direction DA2 has taken, DA3 will look like Sin City (the comics), I've heard. Just black and white (no grey) and red.

I disagree. Dragon Age: Origins' decent art style was destroyed because of Bioware's obsession. Bioware doesn't think rationally, just want to change everything from Origins. It is like de-Stalinization process. Those swaggerings just gave Bioware an excuse, nothing more.

Did it have anything to do with replacing the lead designer (or whoever that was, I can't remember) after DA:O? Someone trying to make an impression?

Made even better for those who get the art style reference.

people hate on the cliff racers because they were an ever-spawning pain in the @ss. i was all for dangerous and believable, but they gave too much reality to Morrowind in the sense that you constantly wished you had the number for a good pest-control agency.

Anyways, I'm glad to see there *are* likeminded people. People who get the drift. People who don't hate on cliff hangers.

Nah, looks like an "aliens" quote would fit.
