I'm even more curious about the Archer Rogue build you hinted at earlier. Yes I know you hate Archers. But it would be interesting to play an all ranged party without Force Mage. And DW gets boring after a while - No CC or AOE, just a production line slaughterhouse.

 Arelex, sorry for the double post but i think you make a little error on setting the CCC wiith varric and anders for the walking bomb setup : 
 
on anders : 
ennemy status desoriented : walking bomb 
ennemy status desoriented : glyph of paralysis

on varric : 

ennemy status desoriented : fatiguing fog 


but how could the tactic on varric work if he is the only character in this party whose actually can desorient a target =/

it make more sense to do like this : 

on varric : 
ennemy clustered with a least three ennemies : fatiguing fog

THEN anders tactic will trigger EACH time 3 ennemies are clustured.

p-s : personnally i prefer set up varric to use fatiguing fog on paralysed target instead of desorient and let ander paralysed them when they are clustured and only when they are desoriented anders use walking bomb. but that's your build so i will not argue on that =-)

no it's paralyzed. just a typo. Arelex is fairly notorious for those.

how can he paralyse a target wich status is non-existant ? 

he set the glyph of paralysis on desoriented target, but here's no desoriented target ^^' because varic is set to drop fatiguing fog on paralysed target...

don't it make sense to set the glyph of paralysis on clustered target instead of non-existant-desoriented target ? 

sorry if i repeat myself (i am french canadian, my english not so bad, though not perfect ^^')

Could be a typo. He lists them correctly in the tactics above those ones though. The proper condition for Glyph of Paralysis is "Enemy: Clustered with 2 enemies". Could also not be a typo since an upgraded pinning shot will also disorient a target. Probably a typo though.

It isnt a typo.

1. Varric pins and disorients a boss/elite with low hp 
2. Varric brands it
3. Anders cast walking bomb and paralyzes the boss/elite
4. Varric uses fatiguing fog to slow the boss bomb down and re-disorient it for spirit bolt/cc
5. Anders casts haste then spirit bolts the boss bomb for extra disorient dmg
If its still alive
6. Varric uses kickback 
7. Anders uses winters grasp making the boss bomb frozen and brittle
8. Varric uses bursting arrow for extra brittle dmg

It's pretty clever.  With the walking bomb upgrades you should kill it instantly or pretty quickly at least.

 Why not use the following for Team red mist

Team Red Mist (Anders/Sebastian or Varric/Aveline or Fenris)

Anders - healer
Varric - Rogue / Archer
Aveline - Tank
Hawke - Pure Mage

I am not sure what Fenris would give to the combo, but thought with the group of anders, varric and aveline I am covered for it all

So far I've been using this set-up... on level hard... no cassualties and only 1 potion used...

but there is always room for improvement , and I would love to have the perfect party for futher in the game...

check out my tactics guide. I would reprioritize your tactics order as well as figure out why you have enemy: visible: activate tactics. Either activate after using the mana/stamina or before anything happens. As it is you are just wasting time in the early fight.

self:any: activate X should just be manually turned on in order to use a tactic slot for something important unless you have a ton of open slots.

Heroic Aura does not stack.  Your Hawke is wasting the upgrade. use the point for greater heal.

Varric: - prioritized
enemy: target rank is elite or higher = pinning shot
enemy: BRITTLE = acher's lance
anders" being attacked by ranger or magic attack = bursting arrow
hawke: being attaked by melee attack = rhyming triplet
enemy: at least one is alive = activate speed
enemy: clustreded with at least four enemies = hail of arrows
self: any = activate bianca's song


Merrill

the order of your tactics should be based on importance of what needs to happen 1st in any situation.  Survival is always paramount.  Without deactivate Blood of the First in the 1st spot she could be doing several actions when she would need healing from an outside source, wasting the heal in the process.  It needs to be priority.  Stone fist is a better utility choice than rock armor, especially early game.  Adding the mana requirement to Blood and the deactivation after combat gives you more resources to work with.  You will use 75% of your mana at the start of combat on the quick cast spells, allowing her to be in Blood phase longer.

self: health < 50% = deactivate blood of the first
self: Hp <50%: Health Poultice
enemy: using magic attack: Stone Fist
enemy: elite or higher: winters grasp
enemy: clustered with at least three enemies = chain lightning
self: mana <25%: use current condition for next tactic
self: health >50% : activate blood of the first
self: surrounded by 2 or more enemies: activate wrath of the elven
self: surrounded by at least two enemies = ensare
enemy: clustured with at least four enemies = tempest
self: at least one enemy alive: skip tactics
self: any: Deactivate Blood of the First

I don't want to read through the whole thread, so I'll just ask this question: Are the tactics that are listed in the OP completely up-to-date and bug-free? Basically, are there any changes located somewhere else in this thread?

I think the link to Varric's build is broken, or at least it is for me. Instead of going to a build calculator, it simply redirects back to this thread. Could someone else check to make sure it isn't just me?

My apologies for not being clear enough.  I assumed it would be understood that I was talking about the patch 1.03 Varric build.  That one appears to not only not be working, but includes a talent in its tactics not listed in the earlier one that works, namely Brand.
