My only gripe about the standard old man´s hemorrage would be that hemorrage wants 3 points in blood magic, and a bit of roleplaying issue against going to deep into that life-sacrificing demon stuff. IN addition, hemorrage has a cd of 30 seconds, while you could beef um makers hammer to 10 seconds cd. Take Avelines upgraded shield bash and you have a guaranteed stagger every 10 seconds. having in mind multiple spawn waves, this should allow a much more flexible combat.

It's not like you're going through a tree of garbage to get Paralyzing Hemorrhage, bro. Blood Magic negates the issues of investing in WIL for a mana pool, due to your high cost spells, and gives you a heal with a fast cooldown. Maker's Hammer just is not worth it. I don't know how many times I have to tell people this.

1. Hemorrhage is a near guaranteed one-shot kill vs a Staggered Elite
2. Any other Elites should be getting Archer's Lance CCC'd
3. Chain Lightning is better, and only has a 5 second longer cooldown
4. Fist of the Maker is not FF safe, which is an issue when your warrior has to be IN SOMETHING'S FACE to stagger it
5. If you are using Aveline's Shield Bash on anything but an Elite, you are doing it wrong
6. If CCC Staggers vs trash are anything more than a convenience to you, you are doing it wrong

Really. If Maker's Hammer was any good, I'd tell people to use it. It's not, so I don't. If you wanna use it, that's cool, I have no problem with that, but I don't tell people to use it because it isn't worth it.

All good advice, thanks. I am by no means a master at this game, but here are some of my observations based on things you guys have said.

I find Maker's Hammer very useful for STAG damage, due to its very low cooldown. 15s to 10s if fully upgraded, my initial SH/FM obliterated half the battlefield spamming it on Fenris' clustered target. Based on my experience , I can't do without it.

Healing. I find it a necessity, especially considering that with 3 talents and appropriate equipment you get 2 spells that can heal upwards of 50-60%.

I'm more interested in rotating party members rather than a fixed, optimised group. No more Anders, please.

Unshakeable is great, but FM is way more than that. I've built BM/SH tank mages with STR instead of WIL, 350+ hp and 80% armor with Warrior gear. Nothing knocks them. FM is about quickly getting rid of Normals/Critters before focusing all your party's might on Elites.

Crushing Prison I've found underwhelming. Single target physical damage is not good enough in my book.

I find the concept of a mage who can inflict fire, cold, electricity and spirit damage with more than one spell per damage type, control and rid the area of mobs quickly AND can heal better than Anders very compelling, hence my build.

New sexy dlc staff(+ to all attributes and crit chance) is very nice addition for the glass canon build, i think.

FM is more than Unshakable.
good start.

FM is about quickly getting rid of Normals/Critters before focusing all your party's might on Elites.
Short-sighted at best.

"Force Mage is about total control of the battle."
Should have been your statement.

I'd think of it more like, "If AI was really intelligent they'd target you first"

You presume that we disagree on something. Getting rid of the lessers quickly while guarding against elites/bosses is my way of totally controlling the battle(and reaching levels 27-28). That's why I prefer SH to BM builds. Short-sighted? If it works like it does for me(unstoppable achievement on Nightmare without reloading) then I'll take visual impairment gladly.

After consulting with my Commander-in-Chief, BrazenNL, I've decided that people aren't really getting how to play mage to its maximum potential, so I'll be playing through the game a third time as a mage to help you all out. This time, I'll be providing a kind of running commentary on general tips, the tougher fights I come across, and maybe a tutorial video or two.

And guys, please, if you're having trouble with something, ask. Nobody is going to laugh at you (except me) or think you suck (except me) or anything, and even if they (I) do, who gives a ****? It's a SINGLE PLAYER game; the only one you're really competing against is yourself. Don't let pride keep you from having a good time and dominating, as opposed to 30-40 hours of just scraping by and surviving. If you ask me a question, and are genuinely interest in learning and improving, I will do everything I possibly can to help you, that's a promise.

Something like this should go without saying, but I feel it needs to be put in writing anyways, just in case.

(P.S buy me the damn dlc)

I think a walkthrough of the tougher fights were you actually comment during the fight (what you're thinking and why etc) would be pretty bad ass.  Of course you risk giving away your seekrits and might no longer be the best player in the universe, double edged sword perhaps?

The stats are quite nice, and spirit immune enemies are rare enough that you can keep it equipped almost all the time.  Unless of course you're a real stickler for always hitting enemies with an element they're weak against, in which case you'll be swapping it out a lot.

Comrades,

It has been brought to my attention that someone has been blatantly stealing from my guides, and passing it off as their own, without so much as a mention of credit or source. I want to help as many people as possible, that's why I write this guide, that's why I make these videos, it's something I've said many times, so you all know it by now. It's hard work, it takes up a lot of my free time, but I'm happy to do it.

However, having my hard work stolen, with no credit being given, and no one so much as checking with me to see if it's okay, pisses me off. What does one truly stand to gain by doing such a thing? Attention? I don't get it. Guys, if you want to post my stuff somewhere else, or use it for something, that's more than okay with me. All I request is that you ask my permission, and don't try to act like it's something you did. It's not okay to do in school, life, anywhere, why would it be okay now?

The offender in question: JunkedRobot (he doesn't deserve colored font). Proof? Check his '2H Berserker' video. In addition to having every single thing in my guide, in the same exact order, he also copied my mistake of listing Unrelenting Barrage as your level 12 ability investment. This is in addition to the fact that he also completely stole the build from my DW Assassin guide (once again, in the same exact order), in ADDITION to the tactics (the smug ****** even had the nerve to give it the same name), so it's not like I'm just making **** up for the sake of my own ego.

Not cool.

Wow, sorry to hear that. That's seriously messed up. I've shared your guides with others before, but I always just give them a direct link to your thread so they can read it themselves.

Watched this vid:

Pretty fail ...

He forgets to hold the party twice. Doesn't notice his party isn't doing anything but heal and goad. Then, he notices it but it's way too late and it's potion galore. :)  Keeping the fight in the small room also isn't really working out for him.

EDIT: AreleX, link me your Berserker Night Lies and I'll post it there.

I got through two minutes of it and had to stop.  It was that bad.  I don't even play that badly.  It's obvious he doesn't really understand the game.  Elemental Weapons providing Lightning?  Why doesn't he use the Anderfel Cleaver (dominates that room like that's its job)?  His party members contributing almost nothing?  Getting trapped in that back room for Night Lies?  Sheesh, this guy is bad.

If you take heart in anything about that guy, AreleX, let it be known that he is the worst Berserker player in the world.  Just post video responses to your much better videos, and comment "L2P. Oh, and learn to write your own guide, (insert your choice of expletive here)."

It's just like, how s**tty of a person are you?

I made my Berserker Vanguard thread after learning many things from Sabresandiego's guide. Before I even started making the thread, I PM'ed him to make sure he was cool with it (awesome dude, he was). In addition to this, I credit him in the very first paragraph, thanking him and linking to his guide.

But no, we can just steal s**t, slap a different name on it (or the same name, if you're an arrogant c**ksucker that way), and call it our own. That's cool too.

I'll stop complaining about this now, it's just incredibly disrespectful, and disrespect does not sit well with me, at all.

A new tutorial vid will be posted today, so be on the lookout!

Edit: Aww, ezra! Don't worry, no one will ever steal from you, because Spirit Healer is for bums.

I just checked the 2h Berserk video.  He gives credit to you now.  Is this a new addition?  Was this not the case before?

Build Concept credit to AreleX of the bioware Social forums.
Check out his forum thread for an even better build than this!

It wasn't there before. Someone PM'ed me a link to one of his videos, I posted a comment calling him on his BS (In a pretty non-confrontational way, actually, but he deleted it), and then sent me a condescending ass message like 'Can you link me to these builds I am allegedly plagiarizing'?

Maybe he saw this thread. Good.

I really get annoyed with his use of "I like to do this, I like to do that" and it's blatantly obvious he's either reading directly from your thread(s) on build order or he's written it down.

Poor form man, poor form.

What a piece o'sheet. Why would someone do that? The sad thing is some people cruise through life with this kind of crap.

On a positive note- Looks like AreleX wins!

I've added another tutorial video, this time, showing you how to play without a tank, and clear some of the harder Act I missions (Act of Mercy, Blackpowder Courtesy, Shepherding Wolves) with ease!

Teach Me How to Force Mage! Lesson 2 - No Tank? No Problem!

I love you guys too!
