Hello,
Yesterday Windows 7 broke on me because of a corrupted update. Silly me, I hadn't backed up and the broken part of Windows 7 wouldn't let me go back to a restore point. SO, I ended up reformatting my C: drive (60GB SSD) and reinstalling Windows 7.
Before doing that, I copied what I thought were the save game files. They were in Bioware->DragonAge2->Characters->and so on. After reinstalling windows and all my drivers and Dragon Age 2, now I can't access those save files. I tried moving them back to the C: drive and still nada. Any help would be great.
Can't access my saves after Windows failure.

Anybody know? I'd hate to start over again.

All I can say is that you did copy the right files, if they were in Documents->Bioware->Dragon Age 2->Characters. Did you put them back in the same place as before? Have you tried starting a new character to verify that the new character files are being put in the same location you put your old ones? Silly, but have you checked that there are actually savegame.das files in your old folders?

I posted a solution for characters not showing up in the load game interface here:

This may be the same issue you're having, that your most recent save is corrupt, even if you have your saves in the right location.
