Or, maybe Cailan has an illegitimate child which will turn up in 20-30 years. Got a tradition started with Alistair . . LOL

Anora is 30 at the end of Origins. By the time Alistair comes to Kirkwall as King, she would be 38-40. I don't think she'd be capable of having children even if Alistair is.

Wow, ignorance.  The average age for menopause to begin is age 50.  Up until then, women can and do have babies.  Some even after 50.

I, myself, am 48 and I'm still fertile.  :D  TMI, I know, but hey, there it is.

And in a world where one can shoot fireballs from one's fingertips and heal wounds by drinking potions, well, I doubt they would have fertility problems due to aging that we don't have, but of course I could be wrong.

In my male Warden game, he puts Alistair on the throne but not with Anora.  So maybe that's why they made the decision they did in DA2 -- to allow for different player endings.

Whether or not Anora is barren or not is irrelevent considering Alistair ended up with the my Warden and although it was mentioned that the taint has a high chance of infertality I always liked to think they would beat the odds :)

Not to mention Morrigan's unborn... thing...

I have a theory that no matter who takes the throne in DA:O, there ultimately is no heir produced (Unless you don't count the child concieved with Morrigan) and this will be a point in DA3 or a game or book in the future of the franchise.

Alistair rules alone: I have NO idea if Alistair rules alone forever, or if he eventually takes a wife. Warden's have a hard time concieving, the reason he could do so with Morrigan was possibly because of her magic or because of the ritual itself (Morrigan IS Flemeth's daughter after all). This means there is little to no chance of a child.
Alistair rules with Anora: Anora is possibly barren (Either by biological defect or she's hitting menopause) and we still have Alistair being a Grey Warden. This means there is little to no chance of a child.
Alistair rules with Female Cousland!Warden: Now we have TWO wardens trying to have a baby together. This'll be tricky.... Near impossible to have a child.
Anora rules alone: The epilogue states that Anora never remarries, which makes making babies a little hard. Even if she does remarry or has *ahem* a 'pet', still got that barren thing ya know. ...Little to no chance.
Anora rules with Male Cousland!Warden: Same as if she was ruling with Alistair. Again, little to no chance.

Well, I want to thank the OP for this thread. I've been thinking about this issue lately and now I don't have to make my own thread.

At any rate, my mage Warden ended up with Alistair as king (possible if you "harden" him after his sister quest and pick specific dialogue choices later on,) and she basically remains his mistress. I recently did read some of Mr. Gaider's comments about Wardens not having children and this instantly got me to thinking about succession.

I'm so happy to know that all of my damn hard work in preventing a civil war was only for a couple of decades (DA2 timespan + any remaining time Alistair has) -_-.

Grrr.

OR MAYBE, Avernus and the Architect will work their mojo and fix all of these problems! I can hope can't I? I'd really rather not have Alistair die during the series... :crying:

Think about it Alistair would end up putting Fergus on the Throne since he's Teryn of Highever and his political powess is 2nd only to the king
