So far, everything I've seen/read has either been "definitely good," "good if done right," and "hey, I'm cool with it." Nothing has raised any "this is a bad idea" flags yet.
In other words: I'm positive about ME3.

Bioware has some explaining to do on Cerberus turning on Shepard and it better be a logical one not some pathetic piece of Sh*t one
Wait you DIDN'T see that coming? Even Martin Sheen said you shouldn't trust the Illusive Man

But I'm telling that little voice to kindly shut the **** up, because at this point I couldn't be more psyched for ME3.

Gameplay looks awesome. Story sounds like DA:O in space. So its 50:50 for me right now.
They haven't even said anything about the story yet. Where are you all getting this feeling from?

Expand the game a litle and give it more exiting moments.

This reason is the type of reason I'm hoping for: It's believable and nods back to ME1. Just as long as there's a reason for TIM to turn on shep and there isn't a lot of railroading, I'm totally cool with it.Arken wrote...
I'm curious why Cerberus turned on Shepard. It may be something along ths line of the Illusive Man needing something from Shepard's visions that he didn't know about until Mass Effect 3 begins. I could live with this, because in this scenario it makes sense for TIM to bring Shepard back only to turn on him later.
Bingo. I'm cool with this if it's handled well.
Everything else thus far is absolutely terrific, though. It's a good time to be a Mass Effect fan.

I hope that they will bring good amount of new squad mates and not just recycle the old ones.

Other than that, personally I have a very very very bad feeling about ME3:
-) So far they have just confirmed new pure-ACTION-featueres: melee combats, arena on different levels, new kind of enemy...
-) Speaking about the "arena" I have a bad feeling that they will be managed just like they have done for ME2 i.e.: fake arcade corridor linear levels... a galaxy away by the sand-box approach of ME1...
-) I do not see RPG elements return... What they have described so far seems just an evolution of ME2 arcadish Power-Up. Regarding weapons mod.. It seems similar to the very light "customization" that is used by Crysis 2... Great for a FPS not so much for te ME franchise...
-) They have already declared that planet exploration will be managed in a way similar to ME2... i.e. DLC...at the best !
-) The new art style seems VANQUISH... but this is personal taste..
-) The most painfull... They stated clearly that ME3 will be more linear than ME2 with even less galaxy navigation/exploration/ freedom...
If you love ME2 for being a competitor of Gears and Uncharted I feel that you will be even more happy with ME3!
If you still regret bitterly the amazing and unique cinematic (NOT RPG!!!!!!!) masterpiece that was ME1... well maybe you have leaved this forum long ago...

Game's seven months away, though. I don't think they should be confirming much else. But the Game Informer article emphasized several times in several ways that the developers recognize how important the storyline is to basically all fans and how they're working hard as hell to deliver a satisfactory finish.

I love ME2 and I have no interest in Gears of War. I also love ME1 and there's no bitter regret involved. I think they're amazing games, both of them. But I think ME2 is the more cinematic game, because it manages to do a lot more things cinematically.

I really dont want it just to be another rush to the finish game. Which it doesn't sound so far. There will always be that sense of urgency but there seems to be a lot of other things going on as well.

From Game informer. There were small parts(small spoilers of course) about salarian homeworld with trouble over genophage discussion or quarian-geth war etc. And guess who will save the day and will help them? Reaper story has potential for full game just about finding a way to fight them, but at least now it looks that we will wasting that potential on non-Reaoer related stories. imoTwistedComplex wrote...

Well I respect your opinion.
In my opinion ME2 has become just a good corridor TPS with (mostly) useless dialogue cut-scenes and great production values.
The core of the game has become the shooter part: everything else, has gone in second (third!) place.
ME1, as you can remember clearly as you said you have loved it, was instead a perfect mix of plot, characters, strategy, action, dialogues, exploration etc... a true cinematic experience.
Just start ME1 once again... these will be evident from the very beginning (the dialogue between Kaindan Shep and Joker).
Everything (with the exception of action TPS) was drastically reduced or cut during the transition from 1 to 2. Yes, even the caracthers (that is one of the flagship of ME2 defenders) intercation and the dialogue system...
But if you think that shooting and no-intercative cutscene means interactive fiction...

Bioware's start for 2011 was not a very good one too... mixed reception for Dragon Age II (definitely below the standard of reception you'd come to expect of Bioware) and poor reception for Arrival. I hope this is not a sign of things to come for this company.
The art style is cool I guess, reminds me of Xenosaga and Metal Gear Solid. I don't mind but I didn't find it necessary either.
How much I will like Mass Effect 3 will depend on different factors. However I'm not getting myself hyped and that counts for all games by the way. I'm truly sick of constantly getting myself hyped and ending up being disappointed. It's a bad habit this gen, hyping the games like crazy and leaving us with a mediocre or incomplete game.
Anyway, I wish the best for the development team of Mass Effect 3 and hope this trilogy gets the ending it deserves.

The only people who will actually be satisified with this lame excuse to appeal to the "RPG" and "Action" fans will be the minority who bought ME2/DA2, enjoyed it, and continue to praise the game in these very forums.
Casey Hudson basically said that there won't be any drastic changes like ME to ME2 but subtle changes to the dull gameplay they created with ME2. I mean these guys haven't even announced one unique feature yet and these boards are going crazy with glee, sorry but features that every action-shooter game has like modding weapons and upgradable power-ups is nothing new and should've been in ME1 and ME2 already instead of calling it a way to appeal to the RPG fans. In fact upgradable power-ups were already in ME1 to some extent, but only once you got to the last level of the power.

One fear is that the plot is simply recruiting allies from different races just to save Earth from the Reapers as the endgame. Hoping that there is a branching narrative that doesn't necessarily follow the obvious path.
