I agree with you about the lack of humor in the statement, but I have to disagree with you on this point - 'batarian deaths' in this case has very definite semantic meaning - it clearly represents the fact of batarians dying or the existence of dead batarians.  It may be semantically unclear which it represents, but either one is valid and does not make the sentence meaningless.  If "batarian deaths" was semantically meaningless in that scenario, there would be no meaning to the rest of your stance against it.

That would be a pretty dumb thing to say and I can't even imagine what kind of thought process makes this kind of 'joke' pop up. Had you used 'ramblings of mad men' or 'unverified rumors and hearsay' or even 'obviously faked footage' instead of your usage of 'Batarian deaths', then there would have been a joke in the making.

As is, however, there is just a horrible display of lack of common sense, in multiple layers of implications.

The whole point of the joke was how ridiculous it was, and how ridiculous the Saren trial was in the first place. The point was not to imply that Batarians were worthless, it was to imply the idiocy of my Shepard and how bad his defence is. Just like the Chewbecca Defense in South Park. In the joke, Shepard is trying to be clever and mimic Saren (and even does a bad impression of him) without having anything to actually make a point with and he fails. It's funny because of how stupid you would have to be to try that. That seems to have gone over your head though. 

You are possibly the most boring person I have ever seen on a forum. Are you really trying to dissect a stupid joke on the internet? Humour is subjective. You aren't a comedy doctor. If you don't think it is funny, move on - no one cares. Don't sit there and try to tell everyone why it isn't funny - because:

A - You missed the point in the first place 

and

B - You can't do that with humour. People think it's funny or they don't. That's it. 

Go for a jogg or something. Once you start having arguments on an internet forum about the motive behind a joke you didn't even understand and whether it's funny or not - you've hit a bit of an all time low.

Based on what the Alliance did after Shepard died, it would appear that the Alliance did not have Shepard's back anyway. Just listen to Joker, Ken, Gabby & Jacob on what happened after Shepard was gone. It is the Alliance that has you on trial not the council, so your spectre status wouldn't come in to play. It was also Hackett that sent Shepard on this stupid mission and I wonder if that will even come out in the trail. Why do I have the feeling that my Shepard is going to look like an idiot again shouting "The reapers are coming! The reapers are coming!" I will actually be glad to see those crawdads coming .... Shepard is tired of looking crazy!

Who in the hell gave the alliance the right to play games with Shepard . He or She is not some stupid toy  that you play with . He is a human being. The alliance wants him on trail for what his whole f**king career now . not just what went down in arrival. Its utter bull sh*t and a joke . He was brought back to life by Cerberus and he along with them destroyed the Collectors. What the hell did the alliance do in 2 nothing .

The fact that the Reapers are coming in the middle of it makes it feel like nobody believes Shepard unless the Reapers descend upon their heads. And it makes it look like Shepard is going to be condemned unless the Reapers come.

I wouldn't be very motivated to fight for Earth who abandons me...or for the galaxy who condemns me, for that matter. My Shepard is a hero, not a saint.

I wonder if there's anyone at all who will stand by Shepard during that trial, while the whole galaxy is against him. It's easy to stand by him after the Reapers come, when there's a solid proof of his words. But before - will there be anyone? A scapegoat, is he. Humanity is so quick to throw its hero away.

I get what your saying but keep in mind hackett asked him to rescue kenson not kill 305,000 innocent civilians. The Reapers are still coming albeat a few months later but they are still gonna get to earth. So he bought Earth and the galaxy a few months but whats the point ,no one believes him anyway. 305,000 people died by his hand,someone has to pay.
