I had an absolute blast playing my first time through, and will be starting over again verrryyy soon... I made some mistakes, but all in all loved the experience...  I played as Human dw rogue/assassin, with Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana almost exclusively...  I'd love to play a rogue again, this time making some different build choices and such, but wanted to know from anyone else who they played their 2nd or third time through...  anyone play the same class just a little differently or make complete departures?  Just wondering...  Image IPB

My first playthru was an elven mage for a 2nd I played the Female city elf origin, lets just say that origin was very satisfying and very ummmm.. engaging. Hooked from the start and its still one of my favorite origins.

My first playthrough was a Human Noble Rogue Male, who specilized as a Duelist/Assassin, and romanced Leliana. Then I made a Human Mage Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer who ended up as Alistair's mistress. I had more, but I forgot the specifics.
Of course, I played through the first playthrough multiple times because I kept messing up talents and such.

City elf can be rogue or warrior. If you play an elven mage it just runs through the Mage Origin. I would try some of the other origins then go back to the Human Noble. They are all pretty fun to play

I too want to jump right back in and "right" the wrongs I made with talents... The game seemed very rogue friendly, tona of XP in just the origin that a warrior would miss... Plus taking out Howe with a backstab with the family sword was soooo gratifying...

I've played through all the classes and origins multiple times and still find the game fun. but until recently (when I discovered lock bash mods) I played through as mage or rogue unless I specifically wanted to tank. much as I love Leliana I don't always want to have her or Zev in the party on every playthrough, I like to vary things

I definitely recommend trying everything in this game though. every origin, every class, every possible choice of every decision and see how it all comes together at the end
even if some of the decisions are only reflected in a box of text in the epilogue, there's still a real sense that you changed the world

I'm so completely into playing a S&S warrior, that I just play that again and again. I've tried the others, but I never get very far. I know they're just as fun, but they just don't suit me as well. Besides, I micromanage combat enough that I'm really playing all the builds, anyway, particularly the mages, since they can't be trusted to cast area effects on their own.

I enjoy playing mage or dual wield rogue best, but I've had fun with a two handed warrior. That class starts out quite weak but ends up being pretty awesome, so it's worth persevering with.
Least favourite is sword and shield warrior - just find it rather boring.
Again, I've tried all the origins (some numerous times), all four romances and most of the various choices. It's worth playing around with different characters in your party, too.
Recruiting Loghain will give you a new perspective on his character as well (he ended up becoming my favourite - ymmv).

I just finished it. I was starting to think I never would. Woooo! XD
I had a great time but I'm exhausted. I don't know when I'll pick it up again and play a second time, but when I do, it'll go a lot faster, because I hope I've learned a few things from my missteps. ;)
FWIW, I was a human mage.

This is me but with dual wielding warriors.

I've played only rogues and mages so far. My favorite origins are Daelish and mage. Both classes are really fun to play. I don't like warriors very much, so I leave that to the NSCs.

I've also finished my first run a few weeks ago, and played as a human noble warrior that specialized on dual wield (dual wield is usually my very first choise in ALL kind of Games if it's possible, I just LOVE dual wield <3), and have been totally satisfied with it and the game as well, an awesome experience noone should miss (talking about the game, not a dual wield human noble :P ).

I also feel the urge to start over again and try to make some things better, some different, I just can't find the time.

But what's already clear for me is that I will NOT take the same class / race / origin again and I guess this time I try to be intentional a bit more "villain"-like (fist time played as really "noble" noble :P ), but I still can't decide if it will be elf or dwarf, rogue, mage or yet another human, in that case most likely mage.

Well, I'm looking forward to it when I can find the time.

I played two-dagger rogues for my first three playthroughs - human noble, city elf and dwarf commoner. Made a lot of the same big decisions (re: the treaties), tried a few different romances and explored more of the mechanics (the elf was the Mad Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight, and I tried a setting with friendly fire for the dwarf). I tried an elven mage, then hopped back to a Dalish rogue archer, did a solo rogue run with another Cousland, and am only now trying a warrior dwarf noble. She's fun, too!

It's all good. You want another rogue run, do another rogue run. The game'll still be there if you want to try a mage or warrior (or just a different Origin) later.

The beauty of DAO is the replay value. You'll be playing it a lot more then just twice (if your like me anyway)
By playing the other roles you can at least understand how they work and what you should set your NPC's in their tactics. That's what I've been doing lately, that way I can go back to my favorite (rogue duel-daggers dueling and assassin) and let the NPC's do what their good at.

I played a mage my first time through, and now going on my second time through as a Dalish Rogue and having a blast. Can't wait to go back through as a city elf. =D

It is too much fun with so many possibilities, then add the mods on top of it all, and it is easily the best game I have ever played.

I basically only do Warriors, and most of the time, only 2handed warriors at that.

I've tried Mages and Rogues, but I just can't ever stay interested in them long enough to get past Ostagar.
