He defends the repeated dungeons. Defends lame sidequests. That was always just a meaningless marketing gimmick.Defends push A for Awesome.
Questionable assertions.Defends poor storytelling. Defends the non-tactical combat.
I'd rather the lead designer makes what he has the vision to make rather than hold a democratic fan election regarding the direction of the franchise. He constantly says things like "personally" amd "my opinnion" with regards to direction on Dragon Age 2. He essentially built the game that he wanted and not the game that the fans wanted. He built the game for people who didn't play Dragon Age: Origins.
Also, you don't speak for all fans.
There are your opinions I take? Fair enough. My opinion is, that there are many players of the OP's opinion.
How about that.

I wouldn't talk poorly about a game PUBLICALLY I was a part of so soon after release when sales can still be affected. What do you expect djwyattwood?
right now, i dont expect any sort of criticism until maybe 9 to 12 months down the road.
I work for a multi-million dollar company that spans the globe. When you talk to us and we've made a mistake, we try our best to rectify that mistake. That is no lie.
What is it you expect him to do? Come to your house and reprogram the game to your liking? Publicly trash his own company in a major gaming site interview?
The first is obviously ridiculous and the second would get him fired, so neither will happen. Get used to it.
This is what I would like:
1) Admit mistakes made.
2) Attempt to patch mistakes made.
3) Don't make same mistakes.
Is that unreasonable?

When DA3 is announced we'll start hearing the devs talk about how while they were pleased with DA2 but also how they didn't want to 'sit on the laurels' as they discovered that there were 'minor concerns' among 'some fans' on DA2. ;P

Everything you said makes so much sense it makes me angry.

According to your list of complaints, yes. That's unreasonable. You're talking about some fundamental, core changes to the game. That's not patching.
I said attempt.

I mean, it's not like Bioware are CD Projekt, a young developer full of creativity and eager to prove themselves. Bioware are the middle-aged lazy "success" story guys.

This^ He really can't say anything bad about it right now, maybe never. I dunno.
They probably will later on. They'll publicly recognize the flaws and say they're making strides to fix them.
I believe that DA2 was a step in the right direction to giving the DA series its' own unique identity. There were some things they did right. There were a lot of things they did wrong, but can make right for DA3. Here's a few tidbits that they could improve on.
- If they're going to keep the dialogue wheel, they could make it a bit better and not so paraphrase-y. Otherwise, revert to sentences (and optionally keep the intent icons)
- offer a few choices for character voices. I enjoy a fully voiced character, and if we're given choices on what he/she sounds like people might not have such a problem with it.
- Speed up enemy combat to be on par with the characters, because they were using Origins style combat. This might appease the "combat is dumbed down" crowd
- Slow down 2H Warrior combat a little bit. Not a lot. just a little.
- Old Hurlock appearance. But keep the new Emissary look.
- Put as much thought into the whole story as Act 2 received.
- Oh I forgot. No more goop enemy explosion kills of awesome awesomeness. That's the most important thing

OP you capture my mood perfectly, didnt even bother reading the replies, ive been a fanboy and blindly defended a S#it product befor, so i kno theres no point in trying to argue.
Biowear killed its rep for unmatched singleplayer experiance with DA:2 followed closely by a poor DLC for Mass Effect 2.
I wont be pre ordering either ME3 or DA3 untill ive come to these forums and seen what the deal is.
I wont ever trust reviewers again like PC Gamer who had to audacity to call DA:2 the RPG of the decade....... in 2011? what a total joke.
If it was this Mr Laidlaw, then yeah he needs to seriously ask himself why he chose to take a dump from a great height all over DA:2 when all he had to do was refine DA:O.

Can someone tell me what the code is to make that link a word. Where if I say "this", "this" is the link?

Fnarf, if DAII and Mike Laidlaw are the "Awesome" Miz, who should represent DA:O and its loyal fanbase? John Cena or Randy Orton?
Or maybe DA:O and its legacy have done an "Edge" this week and are retiring forever due to illness.

PS. Whoever did the casting for the Voice Actors needs to be hit by a large fish. Did he/she just walk into a English Public School and asked if all the posh, boring up-their-own-ar-ses students could please read these lines in the most unemotional way possible.
Whoa whoa whoa. I thought the voice acting was amazing, especially Merrill, Varric, the Arishok, and Isabella. Well, save for male Hawke in a good amount of instances. Haven't tried female Hawke

On and off I liked the voice acting, but this made me LOL.
(Especially having recently seen a classic live Shakespeare production of King Lear starring Derek Jacobi...just too funny.)

We're talking male Hawke right now? I thought he was ok most of the time. I mean, he wasn't perfect, but hey it wasn't unbearable for me. It wasn't like I vomited every time I heard him. Of course, VA quality is more or less opinion unless it's truly horrible.
*cough cough The Room cough cough*
I do however vomit when I see Alistair's new look. No one likes that
