Hi,

Wasn't too sure of what forum this belongs in. Hope this is the correct one :)

I've never actually finished ME1, but intend to do so now.. and I've read that to get lvl 51-60 you need to do multiple play-through's (first to unlock them, and then to get the xp needed..). And just had some questions.. that I haven't found any answers for..

So here's some Q''s on that....

 - Can you start the game using your same chaarcter that you finished a play through?

- If so, Just what information is kept with the importation into a new game? Such as:

-- Do you keep the same level? (ie start a new game using a lvl 50 finished character, do you start at level 1 or 50?)
-- Do romance flags stay? (ie romanced Kaidan as a femshep, start anew and still have Kaiden romance flagged as on/active)
-- Do you keep any/all Paragon/Renegade points/level's?
-- Do you keep any equipment, weapons, armor, upgrades, gel, money, etc?

- How does running multiple ME1 runthroughs to unlock achievements & level's effect ME2 importation ... apart from starting ME2 with more xp, credits and resources?

-- So could you say run through a ME1 character once and romance Kaiden, run through a second time and romance Liara and then a third time romance no-one.. and then import this character into ME2 and ME2 will only acknowledge the results from the last play-through? Or would stuff from the first 2 play-through's interfear?

- Can you run through with the same character and play different morality each play through?

-- so play once as Paragon using charm, second as renegade using intimidate and third run-through as paragon with charm again? Or would the paragon/charm/morality level's be imported into the new game as well.. and thus start you with a high level of either paragon or renegade.. and thus make it hard/impossible(?) to then play the other morality without starting a whole new character?

- On another point, do achievement bonuses you get apply just to Shepard? or to the whole squad?

- ie the achievement for killing 150 with a pistol is faster recharge on Marksman Talent. I think squad members can get this.. if so, would unlocking the "Pistol Expert" achievement mean squad members get fasdter recharge on Marskman, or just Shepard?

-- Same applies to the other bonuses - such as health regeneration, increased damage resistance, etc.

Thanx in advance to any answers to these questions :)

Yes, you can. To get to level 60 requires at least two playthroughs.

- If so, Just what information is kept with the importation into a new game? Such as:

-- Do you keep the same level? (ie start a new game using a lvl 50 finished character, do you start at level 1 or 50?)

Yes, the same level is kept.

-- Do romance flags stay? (ie romanced Kaidan as a femshep, start anew and still have Kaiden romance flagged as on/active)

No, you can make new decisions on subsequent playthroughs.

-- Do you keep any/all Paragon/Renegade points/level's?

You keep your investment in the Charm / Intimidate Talents, and with three playthroughs you can earn the necessary skill points, without spending what you earn on level-ups. (So from the Spectre status buff and the three tier unlocks in the Paragon/Renegade bars.)

-- Do you keep any equipment, weapons, armor, upgrades, gel, money, etc?

Yes, and at least on the 360, items can be doubled!

- How does running multiple ME1 runthroughs to unlock achievements & level's effect ME2 importation ... apart from starting ME2 with more xp, credits and resources?

For the same Shepard the most important are the experience buffs, but the Talent unlocks can be used on Shep Profiles made after unlocking them.

And for the import into ME2, there are bonuses provided, here's a link

-- So could you say run through a ME1 character once and romance Kaiden, run through a second time and romance Liara and then a third time romance no-one.. and then import this character into ME2 and ME2 will only acknowledge the results from the last play-through? Or would stuff from the first 2 play-through's interfear?

You would end up with three different Sheps at different levels with the different decisions made for import into ME2.

- Can you run through with the same character and play different morality each play through?

Yes, I have done that myself.

I suggest you check out the Morality Guide found here, this would depend on metagaming your Shep a bit, but passing all of the Speech Checks is not absolutely necessary either to enjoy ME1.

- On another point, do achievement bonuses you get apply just to Shepard? or to the whole squad?

I haven't tested this myself to know either way.

- ie the achievement for killing 150 with a pistol is faster recharge on Marksman Talent. I think squad members can get this.. if so, would unlocking the "Pistol Expert" achievement mean squad members get fasdter recharge on Marskman, or just Shepard?

This too, I haven't tested this myself to know either way.

-- Same applies to the other bonuses - such as health regeneration, increased damage resistance, etc.

Only Shepard seems to benefit from these bonuses, at least from my experience.

edit: oops didn't finish yet, darn browser =]

For me on PC the only armor/weap/equip I seem to lose is Tali's omni-tool and I think you lose the Virmire sacrifice's gear. Since I don't use the character I lose on Virmire, it doesn't matter to me, but losing Tali's omni tool usually hurts when I use her a bunch. I have also found that Shepard's personal gear is doubled, making it so if you are low on a particular good ammo, such as Tungsten VII you can put that on Shepard and get another the next play. You will also lose all Medigel/grenade upgrades as well as any purchased licenses for the vendor in the Normandy. Since you keep all your money and Omni-gel this isn't really an issue, allowing you to easily hit max credits and omni gel by the end of the 2nd game.

Basically each play through is treated like an individual play, but you get a higher level and better gear to start. The other bonus is you get to level your companions again, so if you make a mistake or want to try something new with them you will get the option. At the end of the Game it makes an endgame save, with all your current play though stats and flags, so when you import into ME2 you will see multiple saves with the same name just different levels. As a side note, once you hit level 60 and/or max money, you stop receiving XP and/or money allowing you to skip fights you don't want to do once that happens, making the game much faster to complete, because not everything HAS to be killed to complete the maps or levels.

thanx for the answers :) Really appreciate it :)

does anyone have answers to what wasn't  answered?

specifically do powers/bonuses gotten from achievements apply just to Shepard? Or to the whole squad?

IIRC, I don't think they do, I seem to remember a dev mentioning something concerning this, on the old forums. I think it was in relation to the krogan ally achievement regen only applying to Shep. I may be wrong though. It was quite a while ago.
