I meet or exceed all the system requirments specified by Chris Priestly on this forum  (I'm 99% sure but I'm double checking now) and havn't had a problem running any other games. There has been no lag and good performance in ME2 except for this. At first it would select them but "flash" so i had to time my click right, I updated my drivers and it worked but after half an hour of playing it stopped working completely. No matter what I did I couldn't select anything.

I have all the story based DLC installed.

The only system spec it might not meet exceed is my graphics card a ATI mobility radeon 4570. I think it is good enough but I can't find any word from Bioware saying it is nor that it isn't.

After a quick google search other people with teh same card say they play the game no problem/with weaker cards of the same series.

I think it is safe to say it is not a hardware issue.

Your graphic card is old and it is slow, and it is in a laptop (unsupported); it would be "barely" above the HD 4350, which is officially "too slow", if your laptop manufacturer adhered properly to AMD's reference samples. You cannot choose a screen resolution above the lower part of Medium, nor quality settings above "Low", or you will cause frame rate drops that will reduce your ability to interact with the environment.

Well they are better than other cards it works with and on that comparison it said it was faster than the X1650.

I also played ME1 in full resolution with no problems and DA2 runs fine aswell. This is meant to be an optimised version of the same engine as ME1.

If it is above the minimum requirments, even barely, then it should work.

And why would it have worked fine and then stopped?

I can provide links to videos, forum posts and articles where people say they have/can paly ME2 with my graphics card without a problem , some in highest settings. Also to people who have palyed it with a lower spec card.

Other people with a lower and equal spec computer as mine are playing the game fine, some of them with all the highest settings.

I havn't noticed a low FPS in my game but would fiddling wtih any of the graphic options help fix this object selection problem. I don't get why it stopped working, other people who had the problem where it was down to there hardware got the problem right from the start and where under the minimum requirments, neither of which apply to me.

It simply isn't possible to use anyone else's experience as a guide unless every single factor is exactly the same, laptop manufacturer, RAM, CPU, BIOS, GPU, Power Supply, the whole magilla for hardware, *AND* all of the same background programs, settings, services, and OS options all exactly alike. PCs are just too variable to make the kind of comparisons you are hoping to make into anything useful.

I doubt that you have examined this reference to the better and the worst GPUs at all, but you should do so:

My card isn't on the list is the Radeon HD 4550 the nearest equivalent?

Will it help if I post all my specs? I know it can vary but I assumed it would be fine as a guideline, if my system meets the minimum requirments and the other computers do the same and have the same card.

Thanks for all the quick replys.

I reinstalled my graphics card driver and it worked for 20 mins and then stopped again. It seems to be affected by the angle I'm stood at aswell, which is weird. If I angle th camera down the blue square flashes but straight on or down it dosn't appear at all again.

Why could it get fixed only to break again and why would the angle effect it?

Unlike desktop cards, Mobility chipsets are not installed in laptops according to any form of standard across the various manufacturers. Some might work perfectly, others will fail miserably.

Ah thanks that makes sense and I've fixed it by switching the resolution to 1280x720 into f 1600x900 which is the resolution I use for everything else.

As a note, the idea that it works for a time and then stops may also be indicating a heat buildup otherwise your card is starting to cook, and thus the computer slows it down to save it causing the performance to suffer. As a preventative for future issues, you may want to check fans/vents to make sure they are open and allowing good air flow. Basically do what you would normally do to limit heat build up, ie playing surface, and the like.
