I loled when the tutorial in DA2 is actually called "The Art of War". How stupid do they think we are?

Do you really want me to answer that?  I think the answer is damned obvious.

I guess it was part of that think fight a Spartan thing the devs thought we'd enjoy.

I like DA2 really. But it was not the game they were saying it was.

Think like a general, fight like a Spartan.

Shame on you for forgetting the things that Hawke never even came close to doing.

I can't really be expected to remember something that never happened!

Well...we get to do it a smidge to the Arishok. A very thin smidge.

Yea I am sure spartans dueled their opponents by running around in circles and yelling "cheater!" everytime they use a potion (even though you use a dozen).

But Hawke can claim to have fought in a Soul Calibur-esque kind of duel.

I'm trying to imagine kicking the Arishok down a giant hole.

You know, the whole Qunari takeover could've been avoided if Hawke gave the Arishok cookies on a regular basis or even a cookie recipe. That should've been an optionImage IPB

The Warden already did it to someone.

That proves he / she is a much better protagonist.

Mass gathering at Bioware HQ anybody?

I may end up being too political (check Arcturus blog in my sig).

You know, the kind of stuff where pressing a button does not automatically result in something AWESOME.

All the things Arcturus planned for are what Hawke should have done (to degrees - there's no Queen Anora building a university, after all). If they were going to force us to be a Human Noble, why not allowed us to have some impact on the world around us, especially when we're supposed to be fighting like a spartan and rising to power in Kirkwall. Meredith is becoming unpopular with the people, there are people among the mages and the templars who want to see her removed, and Hawke should be dealing with amounting some degree of real authority to supplant her instead of others doing all the work.

Why can't Hawke deal with the nobility of Hightown, the Dwarven Merchants Guide through Varric, Anders in the clinic working with the refugees and the people of Darktown, and the elves of the Alienage could have been addressed in Hawke's rise to power that never was? Incorporate a warrior, rogue, or apostate Hawke into what they do as a noble in Kirkwall and what they might face in dealing with the various factions around him. Your ideas (or variations of them) about Dark Wolves and using dwarven technology would make Hawke look pretty intelligent (although I suppose the Merchants Guild would have to substitute for Orzammar in this case.)

I don't know about your Hawke, but my Spirit-Bloodmage Hawke didn't use a single potion.  Never had to.  His health regeneration (even without healing aura) is so high, that he can snipe (with cold-blooded) with impunity and cast Petrify and Haste over and over again and never run out of health.....even the occational hit the Arishok lands is recooped quickly.  Of course this is a mage with over 300 health at the time........

Yea, my blood mage also didn't have to use potions, except once when the Arishok caught him in a strange grapple impalement move that looks kind of ridiculous and which takes out about half his health.

But other than that, it was easy. But a bit long and tedious. Still much better than the Harvester and Meredith.  At least I felt something for my opponent.

Because DA2 is supposed to be the necessary introduction of a conflict. It had to start regardless of what Hawke does.

I wouldn't mind that much, if at least the conflict was well portrayed and Hawke was a bit more pro-active, which was not the case.

It's not like that was the first over-the-top attack in the DA series. The High Dragon OM NOM NOMMING the Warden on top of the mountain was pretty over the top.

Honestly, Act 2 was done the best because it had a great storyline that was thought out, I felt for the Arishok and liked him, and other stuff.

At least it's feasible for a dragon that size to om nom nom the Warden. The Arishok impaling Hawke, lifting him with one arm and hitting him with the other?

Then again, blood wound has Hawke self-impale.

Hawke: Hey guys! Look at me!

*impales self*

Hawke: And I'm perfectly fine! It's magic!

Anders: Yea it's blood magic you idiot....

Hawke: Shut up Anders, you have no cat!

*Anders slinks off into a corner*

Varric: So Hawke, you having fun pulling a Grace?

Hawke: Yup.

You're not thinking outside the box! In DA:O we had the Arcane Warrior class that blurred the line between the Warrior and Mage.

Imagine a Rogue/Mage crossclass. It would probably be horribly OP and cliche, but the coolness factor would overshadow this completely.

This during the battle to save Knight Captain Cullen...continuing:

KCapt Cullen:  "Bloodmagic?  Where?"

Hawke procedes to impale again using Hemmorage to kill off another bunch of shades theatening the sulking Anders right in front of the Knight captain.

KCapt Cullen glares angrily at Anders and Varic:  "This is no time for kidding around.  We have vile abominations to slay.  What bloodmagic?  I don't see any magic being cast at all!

Anders whimpers in stunned disbelief.

I'm still wondering how Hawke is "the most important in Thedas" after all this...

...and I want my rogue Hawke to pull a Dain Aeducan with Sebastian now, more than ever.

I was planning for it in the game and kept encouraging Sebastian to take back what is his.  Because I actually thought it would lead to something useful.
Even the choice between smuggler and mercs, I did on the basis of rise to power, where I'd prefer to have an underground network of connections my Hawke could possibly use (picked smugglers).  The magister choice. Helping Varric and Aveline. Employing Ferelden refugees. All of it, with a singular purpose in mind.

And all in vain.

And if you think about it, the entire story with Varric is presicely to refute the myth that Hawke is the most important person ever. Talk about irony.
