Not that I know anything about anything, really, but for me the loading times seem to crank up the more I bring up the inventory. For example, I can go a long way through the different deep roads areas but with every "loot pickup" (chests, rocks, whatever) the game gets more and more unresponsive, and not just when loading/entering new areas.

Most interesting, jareklajkosz... Join the beta team right away!

I should also check out if it's true for me too.

Already did, will be testing the game on my laptop. :D

As for above poster, did you do all that while isolated in one area? There are only a finite amount of chests and containers in the game, however, an easy way to test it would be repeatedly opening the vendor screen and storage chest at Soldier's Keep, if you have that DLC.

**SPOILERS FOR SILVERITE MINES AHEAD**

One other thing I'd like to discuss that's completely unrelated to the current topic at hand is the Silverite Mines bug. I'd like to know if anyone has gotten the bug if they had IMMEDIATELY entered the mine upon getting Velanna or killing her, rather than exiting the area first to do party stuff. Velanna is LOCKED into your party when you get her unless you leave the area, and there are specific scenes involving her in the mines that don't play if you have her, but haven't taken her with you. Most importantly, the scene where you first see the experimental subjects. The order which you face the subjects is completely changed depending on whether or not you have Velanna or not.. and if the game is expecting you to have her because you kept her alive, but don't take her with you, I can absolutely see why this would bug out. I can't test this myself because I no longer have any save files there, but if someone else can do that, I can't test this myself because I no longer have a save file where this would be possible without restarting the game, but I'd very much be interested in the results.

I just did the Mines for the first time last week (Ultimate Edition). I finished clearing the east side of the map before entering the Mines, but didn't leave the area or remove Velanna from the party. I entered the Mines fully equipped and got the bug. I re-loaded, stripped naked, tried again, and still got the bug. Both times, I played through until finding all of the Experimental Subjects (except for "mine" obviously), and my companion's equipment was recovered just fine.

Some have hypothesized the issue is related to bringing DLC content into the game, along with some other specific items from Origins. Perhaps this truly is the cause..

Being that it has repeatedly said this thread is now about DLC problems it might be worth posting this elsewhere..

That said however I don't think the bug is related to DLC, 1st playthrough for me I had Wardens Keep and The Stone prisoner installed and got all my gear back with no trouble, 2nd playthrough I had Return to Ostagar & Witchhunt installed as well and also got all my gear back.  Through all playthroughs I did have Velanna in the party though ( on one occasion I went off and did other stuff before continuing on)

Going through 15 pages of posts to figure this out is a bit of a tedious task, no? Anyways, sorry for the disturbance, regardless. :P

Good to know there is still some momentum on this and a new patch coming sometime. Just debating picking up the UE in the Steam sale to get Awakenings and the remaining DLC.

Once you authorize the DLC, you can play offline and avoid the current "de-authorization" issue. One word of advice: it's best to completely uninstall your old copy of the game first, then reboot, to make sure the old registry information is cleared. You can, of course, save your old games.

Thanks RaenImrahl, is there a guide/tool/pointer to what registry info to delete? Or just basically search for Dragon Age and delete it all?

BTW its been a while since i last played (just over a year in fact) and I didn't realise that you could play offline with the DLC.

Also debating for the 2.50 extra to get the prima strategy guide :)

Allowing the system to uninstall the game and rebooting should be enough. If you run into further issues, you can consult the Solutions Round-up pinned towards the top of this forum.

Don't know about the Prima guide... I always relied on the Dragon Age Wiki.

Off topic, but don't bother with the strategy guide. Dragon Age Wiki is infinitely more informative and up to date.

I'm getting a rather weird situation in the battle of Amaranthine. During the battle the combat lags reaaaaally badly, but when I use cleanmem and manually clean the memory during the battle the damage will suddenly pop up (and half the darkspawn die in the span of a few seconds), but it only works a few times.

Is this being addressed already/known already?

I know that in Amaranthine in the battle it lagged for me as well. I just thought it was because of my nearly 8 year old machine and my not that great graphics card (ati radeon 3650 card). I think there's patch 1.05 in th works that adresses the issue, but I'm not sure about this.

Will any of the community fixit project fixes make it in this patch? Also, you said some changes to the engine won't be possible to reverse engineer from DA2 but does that mean there will be solutions to bizarre crashes such as those that occur when attempting to travel in awakening? (I've encounter a few; resolution was to unequip all my weapons for a bit then travel) I'm sure there are others but just curious.

The main target of 1.05 is DLC issues.  There's no guarantee any other fixes will make it in.  If you read the early entries in this thread (notice how the official updates have all but died out, as usual?) there's also targetting of overall game issues, e.g. symptoms that appear to be similar to "memory leaks".

Gameplay and general content issues, while acknowledged, are considered low priority.

In terms of this, the best we can hope for is that the best community fixes get packaged together into one file by the developers as an "official unofficial" fix pack that addresses as many of the gameplay issues as possible without compromising the integrity of the game.

Lets hope. My other thoughts on that are: Is there going to be any major changes from this patch that may break fixes? I guess it's too specific to get a real answer but to also have the community fixit project hinder from this would be sad =(

There's a free program available called CCleaner that you can use to clean up the registry once you've de-installed the game, it'll find the DA registry entry and remove it for you ready for a fresh install.

The beta patch 1.05 will only address DLC authorization issues.

We have a small group of beta testers right now, so I don't think any one of them are running all the fixes.  However, some are using mods, and those mods still appear to work with 1.05 beta.

Rob has indicated he'll update the forum here this week or maybe next.  But rest assured, work continues!

Cheers,

Having been playing DA:O again for the last week (about 45 hours) and having been hitting the occasional really long pauses when loading areas (tends to happen if I'm jumping around a lot), like an extra 30 seconds on top of normal.

Also, possibly related?, sometimes when quiting DA instead of simply closing it will sit for up to a minute with the menu screen visible but also the Windows task bar and the machine effectively locked up. On 2 occasions I got a crash report dialog.

Had zero problems with DLC authorisation errors so far.
