I think it might be due to the new box having a supreme video card installed. My old box couldn't even take screenshots in game and I found out later this was a limitation of the video card.
From all the bad press, I've not dared to upgrade to patch 1.05. I'm happy with DA 1.04.

In short, although we've faced a lot of distractions on the DA2 side, work is continuing and we haven't forgotten about this thread.
Thanks,
Rob
PS - For those suggesting the Luke and I are the only ones working on the patch, we're just the public face of this effort. I assure you - you wouldn't want either one of us touching code. ;oP

I just wanted to chime in again and confirm that work on Patch 1.05 is continuing. Changing the DLC authentication code has proven to be a significant challenge but we're getting close. We'll be releasing a new build to the private beta group today that we believe addresses the core problems with the current 1.05 beta. If that goes well, we'll roll it out as a public beta and start working to make it official.
I know the beta is solely to fix the DLC auth issues, but will the full patch be addressing crashing, processor affinity and assorted other issues as well?

Thank you for the update, though, Mr. Bartel.

The full patch is only designed to address DLC authorisation issues, if other things happen to get fixed as a by-product of the DLC code changes then yay! but it's fairly unlikely. I've got the CtD issues myself, if you haven't tried them some of the affinity changes and .exe memory fixes in the solutions thread might help.CrazyGreggy wrote...

As has been said, the patch will not directly address these issues-- however, I just played an hour and a half with the latest executable, and it's very stable and very fast. Always, of course, your mileage may vary.

Yes, the patch is designed to fix the DLC issues, however I would strongly recommend making a back-up of your daorigins.exe file before installing it as some people have experienced game breaking levels of lag with the current beta version.Stuntmanmike0351 wrote...
So, I just bought DA:O ultimate edition from origin, and after putting in dlc code on bioware's site, I still cannot access any of the games DLC. is this what this patch is suposed to fix? Because it's really annoying to not be able to access any of the games dlc

2. As for the posted questions regarding specs, and issues - mine is the same as most of the posters out there.
3. I do not have the spinning wheel issue, so no hands-up for me.
Just a rant, but allow me to express my frustration!
For those of you that have 1.04 DO NOT PATCH unless you have read the forums!
What you lose in the DLC's you might not make up for in game enjoyment as load screens are horribly long!
In brief... they provide 1.05beta to fix the DLC validation errors, but in return you end up with what appears to be a memory leak, that you have to restart the computer every hour... and until then we sit on our hands after we spent good money to play a great game, just the game is broken, and what little patience I have left is reserved so I dont put my fist thru the monitor waiting for the next load screen or worse, when trying to exit.
Any word on when the patch may come to light?

Preferred solution would have been to not lose the animal, 2nd choice would be to have no cool-down - currently have worst possible "solution"

I would like to make a request in case there is work ongoing for a 1.06 patch...
PLEASE add Manual of Focus (unlimited quantity, as in DAA) on some vendor in DAO, even if it's in the Feastday Gifts pack or only on the Warden's Keep vendors. DAO has been out for a really long time now, people know how they want their characters and companions specced and the understand the consequences of using an item like this. As far as new players are concerned, I don't think this would do them any harm.
Not only was there a respec tome in our PC inventory at the start of GoA, but DAA as well as DA2 have a vendor for similar items, ao they are obviously considered worthwhile. Just add them to the original game as well.

That there was even going to be a 1.05 "patch" surprised me, until I learned that it was simply to fix installation issues.
(Now those are game-breaking, and Must Be Fixed!
But hey, I'm just another long-time player who keeps in contact with both the devs and the modding community. What do I know?
