I'll add the additional bugs tomorrow when I'm in the office. As an update, I've gotten about 6 config files from users for the crash to desktop issues (thanks!) but I have yet to get any for the combat lag issue; if this is happening to you, please send me a PM, it helps a lot.

Again, I'd like to stress that while we'll be taking a look at all these issues that not all of them will be addressed. Now, I know most of these have community made mods/fixes and I think I'd like to possibly try to catalog any outstanding issues we don't fix and package all those 'unofficial fixes' together for ease of use for the community. Just a thought ^_^

I'll be sure to send such information to you once I get the game up and running again as I am unsure if I've ever played it on my current computer hardware.

When I last played it (and it was present with each patch released thus far), characters would cease using tactics whenever they recovered from being knocked down or stunned during combat. Also Very often during combat, party members configured to use a health potion at a specific moment (as specified in tactics) will often show the status of using a potion next to there character portrait but never actually use the potion, I have to take control of the character and tell them to use the potion. (The potion bug also appears to be in the DA2 demo too)

I Also recall reporting some bugs with regards to several kinds of Tactics not working, I'll try to find the thread.

"- [69391] Silverite Mine stealing character's equipment indefinitely"

This was discussed by Bioware Staff already and there explanation of what causes the bug was added to the games Readme file for v1.04 patch as well as how to avoid it occurring.

The entrance of the mines is locked and you are not meant to gain access to the mines until you complete various quests leading up to the mines. However it is possible to force the lock and/or pick the lock and gain access to the mines earlier then intended, this results in many flags and settings not being configured correctly as the appropriate quests before the mines were not completed!

Edit: Also this bug, not confirmed on newer versions of the game however. http://social.biowar...8/index/2232633

Edit: Ignore the title of the thread, the bug regarding looting enemies is fixed in that you can no longer loot enemies that have nothing you can loot from them. However enemies that have nothing to loot will sometimes remain shimmering as though you can loot them. Belle's chest in the Wizard's Circle tower or whatever, can be opened after looting it fully, I believe you have to reload the environment. http://social.biowar...58/index/829154

Edit: When starting a new game, Tab does not show your characters health (green bar), it does show companions health however. Saving and loading a game fixes it. Also your health bar does not appear while in the Fade and you press Tab.

Edit: http://social.biowar...47/index/642679

Edit: A rather glaring bug I've experinced since Dragon Age v1.02a is incredibly hopelesss scroll wheel detection. I have to scroll the mouse wheel furiously to have the game respond to it. Scrolling casually yields no response at all and no progression through the tutorial at the start of the game. My work around is to use the keyboards Page Up and Down keys which are NOT mentioned during the tutorial at the start of the game, it only mentions the scroll wheel. This work around allows progression through the opening tutorial (And so does scrolling the mouse wheel furiously.).

New comers to the game experiencing poor mouse wheel support will probably find them selves stuck at the opening tutorial section as the mouse wheel seemingly doesn't work at all and the games tutorial doesn't mention alternative methods.

Combat lag is related to the "loading times getting gradually slower" bug. Max out all settings on PC, play for 10 minutes. My Geforce 460 gets a bit loud during that, because DAO demands some graphic power and much memory.
After that, try to do the Battle at the Denerim City Gates. I kill a darkspawn with one hit, however the game "recognizes" my hit after 4-5 seconds.

The real problem is the memory handling by DAO. However, I'm no technican, so it's more like a "first guess".

So, that is combat lag. I have experienced it a few times in my playthrough of Origins. Haven't got it in Awakening yet. It was so rare for me that I barely noticed.

That's how I'd define it...  DA2 does not seem to exhibit this issue... or at least not to any great extent.  But I bet a lot of work went into streamlining DA2, I suspect it would be difficult to fix completely in a patch.

The screen pausing (while audio continues) happened to me when I had a super-fast GPU and a fairly old, slow CPU/RAM... so that might be a separate issue but still worthy of examination.

We've had two instances reported of users having their DLC authorized while offline, exiting the game, and finding their DLC unauthorized again when re-launching (but still logged out).

http://social.biowar...8/index/7259634

http://social.biowar...8/index/7266613

Both users have also reported other issues with DLC and/or achievements staying "unlocked".

It is the same for me, also in DA2. A few days ago my old mouse broke and I bought a new Microsoft mouse. But with this new mouse the scroll wheel in both games (and only in these both games) doesn't seem to response until I scroll it for a little while.

Hello All,

Well just finished my play through of Awakenings and like to share my concerns,

I had some slow battles in DA;O the worst being the end fight in DA;O but this mod was absolutely terrible and I kept the same in game settings as I used for the O.C. so why the slow play and why did it take so very long to get game feed back from battles and quest advancment info during and after. WOW!!  I didn't know if what I was fighting was dead yet or not and then even after it was all over , at times is was a good 15 seconds before I got quest advancment info before I knew what was happening. I did think it may be due to having quite a few saves made, but I played with only 2 saves and experienced the same thing. This would be my biggiest complaint overall with Awakenings, as for other things, I did decide to actually try to log in once and when I did all the DLC went back to unauthorizedImage IPB Oh... No..... logged out started again and all was fine again Image IPB so not sure whats going on there.

I tried the manual of focus with my mage and ended up losing points ???? Why does my new sword look like Starfang?

My other concern was the ending, when I finished I was able to view cut-scence and then view the finishing histories of players but afterwards it went stright back to the Mother scene again and again, not a real big deal as I finished but m question is, Was there anything missed ( Achievments ) that I should ave recieved after viewing the finishing histories of the characters? I would have thought it would go right to the start again screen.

All in all though I really liked Awakenings The story was good, the areas were great, Good feel to everything I felt as though I was really interacting with everything and wanting to explore, there were some good surprise moments for people with a nice set of desktop speakers playing with the volume up a bit. And I always did like puzzles so that was a plus for me as well.

I have played DA2 for about 15 min, trying to get this OC DLC out of the way, I will say this based on that 15 min. for DA2 the designers have to go back to the OC look and textures because DA2 has lost allot with that new look, in those 15 min. I felt like all I was doing was clicking an icon rather than interacting with anything. The designers made a good thing with DA;O and the DLC for that series and they should have stuck with that, DA2 looks and feels only like a regular game now. The Charaters in DA;O played with depth, you actually wanted to get to know them. DA2 is no different then those fantasy books you could buy with multiple choice in them and the charcater looks in DA2 are more cartoon-like not like DA;O where they had nice textures to their cloths and better facial expesions, and like things.

Well thats it, Cheers all and if anyone needs any system info for anything please feel free to contact me.

And if any DEVs read this PLEASE go back to the OC designs and textures for DA;3 and keep the original people who did the story lines for the OC and Awakenings.

My Motto..... " If It's Not Broke, Don't Fix It "

 Sincerely, Wil SilverHeartImage IPB

An irritating bug I have found is the Reaper's Cudgel, from Golems of Amgarrak, which, when imported into an Origins campaign, the texture is wrong, and it looks like a standard mace.

Edit: Apparently, this also happens in Awakening too.

Also, as Elath Husek wrote, the codex for Isolde and Connor is bugged and will frequently say they died when they did not. I know this is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but it's annoying to read that someone is supposedly dead when you clearly know they are not and went to the trouble to save them. Hopefully since it's just text it would be a relatively minor fix.

Elath Huskeh wrote...

I wanted to ask if you're going to look into codes issues for Dragon Age: Awakening. The main one is with Arlessa Isolde and Connor quest (in codex it states that both/one of them died when you tried to save them -> http://dragonage.wik.../Arlessa_Isolde )

Adding that I've had this happen each time I've gone the long route despite them being alive and well in game once the ritual is done.

DAO_WitchHunt.exe downloaded from the "Entitlements" website as listed above, requires the game to be at v1.03 or lower or else the installation will fail. This "EXE" file method of installing the DLC attempts to install v1.04 and if you have already installed the v1.04 patch then the DLC installer will fail on the first step which is to install V1.04 because you already have v1.04 installed.

Also on the Entitlements website, all of the installation instructions for each and every DLC instructs users on how to install DAZIP files but the only files you can download from that website are self extracting EXE files.

You do not encounter this problem with the in-game downloader because that downloads and installs the DAZIP version which excludes the v1.04 patch.

Also, all of the EXE files on that Entitlements website will show you during installation the free space remaining on the drive you have installed the game to (in my case I installed to "D:\\Dragon Age"), but does not show the amount of free space remaing on the drive/partition where My Documents is located (C:\\Users\\%user%\\Documents). The DLC is installed to a Bioware folder in My Documents.

Having a wee bit of a problem with DA:O's windowed mode:

http://social.biowar...8/index/7290335

It makes my computer work very hard, and then proceeds to turn it off without warning within 3-7 minutes of starting the game in windowed mode.(Not fullscreen windowed, like, smaller window so I can multitask) Fullscreen works fine. As you can see Raen said this would be helped in the coming patch, so I hope it is, I just wanted to let staff know about this problem.

Hey, I voted for living paragon status for RaenImrahl back "then", but moderator is OK for now... congrats! (even if late)

It would be lovely if the next patch was available for Mac ASAP, too.

Another issue right now, which might concern the Bioware site more than the actual game is that, since about 10 days, when I start the game with automatic log-in, I get a "Please try again" alert every time and have to log in manually, which is annoying, so I usually keep logged out now...

I suggest you should buy a better graphics card. Or turn ambient occlusion off completely. Even with GTX260 I had absolutely no such issues, and that graphics is a way outdated already.

I have a GTX 460 1GB and SSAO completely destroys my framerate. It could use a little optimization, certainly. Though I disable it anyhow because it barely adds anything visually to the game. A few obscure shadows on the legs of a table that you won't really notice anyhow while playing? No thanks.

I second that.

The "please try again" bug is listed under DA:O UE, but I've got DA:O Digital Deluxe edition, so it should be listed under that (I suppose original DA:O) as well. Since it started a few days ago, it looks more like there was a change site-wise, since I didn't change anything in my installation for the past months...

Another thing, which is very vague, but it seems someone's (I believe Oghren's) personal quest can't be unlocked because his approval system doesn't work properly, the workaround being to bring tons of gifts from DA:O for him. Sorry for being so vague, someone told me that and kept it spoiler-free, since I don't have DAA yet... sorry if I got it wrong.

For me this bug appeared right after the unauthorized DLC issue was fixed. I suspect they didn't really fix the issue, but instead implemented some kind of workaround which caused this new bug.

I have no such issue. Through careful choices in dialogs with Oghren you can raise his approval fast enough. There are also some sites in the game world which provoke additional dialogues with Oghren. I bet you can find a lot of info in wiki if it's too hard to figure it all out on your own.

Now it's my turn to complain about the nasty bug that ate me. I just spent the rest of my money to purchase materials to craft a Paragon Cold Iron Rune. What a disappointment it was when the rune turned out to be an armor rune. What a foul joke BioWare played at me today! Is there any workaround or at least a chance to create correct type of that rune higher than the grandmaster?

There are 3rd party mods that will fix that... try dragonagenexus.com... don't know how well they work or how stable they are... so "use at your own risk, results may vary," etc.

Luke mentioned at one point in this thread about compiling a list of gamer-created bug fixes that work.  Maybe it's a project we can all tackle after that glorious day when patch 1.05 is released.  In fact... maybe I'll put something in the forum later today to get the ball rolling....

Wait a minute.  Are you saying this is a feature, not a bug?  I didn't miss anything when this bug occurred.  If I did, there is no way for me to know what it was.  I completed every quest I had in my journal that could be done.  There is no way for this 'feature' to not occur if I have no idea what quests I missed.  I know I didn't pick a lock to get in.

I also read (but haven't proven myself) that having the Key to the City worn will cause the items to vanish, whereas taking the Key to the City off before going into the mines fixes the problem.  I have no idea how that would relate to quests not being done.

Why fix some and not others?

I don't get it. Well, I do and I don't. I'm sure it comes down to dollars.
I guess the thing I don't get is, Bioware is setting themselves apart from the rest of the industry by releasing fixes for a long ago released game. Why tarnish that by not fixing all the bugs you know about?
