I'll add the additional bugs tomorrow when I'm in the office. As an update, I've gotten about 6 config files from users for the crash to desktop issues (thanks!) but I have yet to get any for the combat lag issue; if this is happening to you, please send me a PM, it helps a lot.

Again, I'd like to stress that while we'll be taking a look at all these issues that not all of them will be addressed. Why fix some and not others?

I don't get it. Well, I do and I don't. I'm sure it comes down to dollars.
I guess the thing I don't get is, Bioware is setting themselves apart from the rest of the industry by releasing fixes for a long ago released game. Why tarnish that by not fixing all the bugs you know about?

Well, I imagine alot of them are easier than others. Fix a flag here or there might be easier than trying to figure out the memory leak issue, or why the game seems to dislike quad-core processors. Other bugs might be considered so minor as to be pointless. It's not that I wouldn't want them all fixed, but I would much rather have them spend however much time and money they have set-aside to tackle the major issues and the most easily fixed and pass up the pernicious, minor problems.

The original DA:O launch was 2 weeks after Win7's release. So it's really not surprising that it wasn't tested much on win 7 as DA:O was finished before it was available

This is true, but Bioware is still selling DLC and repacked versions of this game (Ultimate Ed) well after Windows 7 was released and IMO it's inexecusable to release a game that crashes with more than 2GB of RAM. I understand some strange combination of drivers or other unusual configuration issues, but seriously 64 bit OS have been out for years well before the Windows 7 release. This needs to be fixed or I'd like a refund of the $35 I just spend on DOA Ultimate.

Uhm the crashing isn't isolated to users with more then2GB of RAM or Windows 7 64bit.

Also the mouse scroll wheel being unresponsive seems to be directly tied to the games FPS. Poor FPS lowers the scroll wheel responsiveness while high FPS makes it extra sensitive. (tested by enabling/disabling AA to influence FPS)

No, of course those aren't the only causes, but there seems to be a specific problem with the game being unable to cope with over 2 gigs of ram, which means a 64-bit OS. I don't know why everyone says Win 7 only, though, since my 64-bit Vista seems to have the same problem.

Add MacOS X 10.6.6 (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 2 GB RAM, GeForce 9600M GT) to the list... though since 1.04, crashes have been a lot less frequently (at least on my machine).

Hi I'm a newbie who just bought DAO Ultimate from Steam, and I've spent around 16 hours trying to authorise my content.

All of my DLC remains "unauthorised" and I've tried fix after fix that I've read / speaking to EA support / banging my head against a brick wall and so on.

I appreciate many people are having this problem - Buying Ultimate, redeeming the codes, and the game saying not-authorised.

I'm hoping for some reassurance that the Bioware people are looking to fix this for definate in the near-ish future?

I only posted because I notice that list of things to be looked at didn't mention the unauthorised DLC stuff.

:( *sigh* wish it worked.

After having played through DA:O some time back, I just bought DA:O Ultimate from Steam. I can not for the life of me get it to run. The configuration utility will load to about 10%, then hang indefinitely. This was not a problem with my DA:O install (which I completely removed before installing the DA:OU), also purchased through Steam.

I am using Windows 7 SP1, Home Edition. I have tried running the configuration directly as an administrator from the steam bin folder, as well as trying it in XP compatibility mode. Neither one changes the fact that the config utility hangs at 10%. I can not start the game without the Config Utility popping up, even if I run the DA:O exe directly. DA:2's config utility ran perfectly 2 months ago, but now hangs indefinitely at about 10% as well. The only thing I have installed in the interim is Windows 7 updates.

I have seen a number of different posts here and other places on the internet for similar issues with the Config Utilities for Jade Empire, Mass Effect 2, and DA:2. None of the solutions (what few there were) solved this problem. It is not a system resource issue - I have previously run DA:O and DA2 without issue. It isn't a patching issue - DA:O is up to date.

Any help or a look into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you're having issues.  If you want to troubleshoot, post details of your system in a NEW post.  You can read about what you should include, and how to find it, here:  http://social.biowar...8/index/7280573

How about fixing the website itself. I get tired of seeing an error has occured please log in or create an account. 2nd ly why does DA II always feel the need to log out when you are not looking.
I really hate the fact that DA:II decided to brake all the things that WERN''T broke to begin with. The DLC for instance you cant buy or download from in game like DO:A, You can't see if your logged into the site while you save have to exit game to see that. As for the DO:A EA store is no longer avaiable so all content if on-line becomes disabled. Want to play Origins with all your content get off-line nefore you play, log in from in game if you need to try upload.

Hey All,

The Silverite mine and missing armour bug is caused by one of the monsters that equip your items, if for what ever reason it ( Monster ) can't use them they will vanish and you won't get them back.

Not sure about the key thing but removing all your stuff before you go in should at least alow you to get your items back.  Make a save before you enter as well.

As to the question about runes, the icons are different, for armour and wepons so must have just thought you had the right one.

Cheers! Wil SilverHeart

P.S. RaenImrahl, could you have a look at my post about finishing Awakenings and prvide some feed back.

No, there actually is an error in Awakenings with the high level (over Grandmaster) weapon runes being treated as armor runes.

Two more things regarding the EXE files over at http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php

1) At the end of the installation process it should stop the "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" service, delete Manifest.xml at "C:\\Users\\Franpa\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings" and then restart the "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater". Why? Because installing the DLC data doesn't DO anything if the Manifest file isn't updated to reflect this. (The game would keep downloading the DLC)

2) There is no download link for the Return to Ostagar DLC on the entitlements page.

Is the BioWare team only interested in bugs that cause the game not to play at all, or are other, arguably more major issues looking to be resolved also?

There many, many, many bits of misdirection/misinformation provided by the game that are extremely frustrating once you recognize them. I find that these are even more frustrating than flat-out crashes, as if a game simply doesn't start, you simply don't play it. If a game does start, however, and pretends to be working properly, you play it and invest countless hours into it, only to later realize the hours you put into it were wasted as the game wasn't actually doing what it said it was doing.

A few examples are listed below (most of them copied from the documentation of an attempt at a user-made fix):

* Reduces Hostility - The Reduces Hostility property found on items such as Bard's Dancing Shoes, Dalish Promise Ring, Amulet of Accord, Magister's Cinch, Adaia's Boots is not implemented properly and does not reduce threat in any way.

*Fix - Magebane/Soldierbane Removes Mana/Stamina
Fixes these poisons to correctly remove mana/stamina instead of adding it.

* Fix - Mana Cleanse Removes Mana
Fixes the bug where Mana Cleanse was adding mana instead of removing mana.

* Fix - Haste Ranged Aim
* Fix - Haste Weapon Speed
* Fix - Swift Salve Ranged Aim
Fixes the bug where haste will add 0.8s to your aim time instead of subtracting 0.2s.
Fixes the bug where if you drop below 0.5s weapon speed, it will reset to 1.0s.
Fixes the bug where swift salve will add 0.9s to your aim time instead of subtracting 0.1s.

* Fix - Healing Received
Fixes the bug where healing received was not properly initialized on characters, thus the items had no effect.

* Fix - Increases Monetary Gain
Fixes monetary gain items to properly give additional 5% gold from killing monsters.

* Fix - Weaken Nearby Darkspawn
Fixes the bug where the Weaken Nearby Darkspawn property was not functioning. Now causes darkspawn within 2.5m to be penalized -5 attack and -5 defense.

I have been making the hard decision to pass up great items, level after level, because I wanted to hold on to single attributes of otherwise extremely weak and plain items (attributes such as Reduces Hostility, in particular). As it turns out, those items really were just as weak as they otherwise would have been, as their attributes were not in effect at all.

This is a serious issue for me.

P.S.: As a side-note, the user-created fix for these also happens to make several unappealing, game-changing "tweaks" that were /not/ intended by the original developers and is hence, unfortunately, not an option for me.

I didn't even know this! Ill this time I thought I was for example weakening nearby darkspawn with all kinds of weapons when it did nothing at all, haha. I'll use the mod you describe for now, I quickly read what it does, but the changes (tweaks) in addition to the fixes are not too game-changing I think. For those interested I found it here: http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1601

@kaoruAngel I just downloaded the mod, it seems you can install any of the fixes/tweaks you want seperately so you could just install the fixes and not the tweaks.

I know it'll save you time and work.. however I was under the assumption that this thread was started due to the fact that many issues had gone unresolved for years.
Now hearing others have fixed it "unofficially" so we don't have to, is a big backtrack on intention.

I appreciate the work you're doing, but what if I don't wish to rely on "unofficial fixes" that may cause other errors.
Or what if I'm one of many not on PC, what then.

look, at least they are fixing it now, i dont think its really his fault, its his management's, if anything. hes actually juggling support for at least 2 games now...and i assume luke knows its not morally right to have the consumers do all the "beta testing". even more so i hope that bioware knows this too

I have no issue with Luke Barret I know he's not at fault.
I quoted him to raise the issue, I never attribute blame to those that hold no responsability for it.

Exactly.. two games atm.
Next three games, then four, it may be management and is not exclusive to bioware.
All I'm suggesting is, is it not better to solve the issues now while there is still intent.
Than to have another week like we had already, a game still broken that can be used as fire against the company.. or worse.

This is not a hydra if you cut the head off now the beast dies ( problem goes away.)
Two years the games been out, two years of add ons, four patches.
While knowledge of these issues has been, logged, reported, found out about, attempted "unofficial" fixes created.

Fix it, use the PR boost to gain support, move on to the next game fix it gain support.

Is there a comprehensive list of which items don't appear in the game where they should or are otherwise bugged (Ancient Elven Boots, Ageless not having rune slots etc, Greater Elixir of Grounding Recipe not appearing etc)?

If anyone has made a comprehensive listing of those as well as the various important mechanics bugs (archery speed bugs etc), even if it's just bullet points, or a list of mods that fix them, it could save the developers a lot of time if they simply incorporate all of that into the patch.

I agree with you on this point, is this going to be the trend of all bioware games in the future? no priorities on bug-fixing?
