If someone were to distill the easily found things and categorize them into item bugs, quest bugs etc and write that out in comprehensive format, it would help a lot. I may even try my hand at doing that, since I have a lot of experience in this particular field.
I'll then juust need to know who to send them to.

Generally, they only list two kinds of fixes; ones using the toolkit directly, or very popular mods to very well-known problems. They try not to throw up every mod invented for every problem, since many mods don't work, or don't work properly, or conflict heavily with other files, etc, and the wiki isn't really the place to deal with that.

what i did was to call the ea support, they said that my ea account was for some reason not properly linked or something.
they created a new persona or something to fix this.
they were also able to fix the problem i had with not being able to use the web based support.
(was thrown back at the same login all the time even after reseting account password multiple times.
So my advice is to contact the support.
Would be nice to know why it was broken in the first place because it shouldn't be like this.

Hmmm...... Maybe that isn't a bad idea to allow us to call in and make a completely new account ( Start Fresh ) using a brand-new accounts server. Just maybe there is a flaw in the old ones ( Age or just ready for the bone yard ) Everything needs to be updated once in awhile, we are all like that. When our cloths wear out or something breaks...Don't we go out and get new one or at least get it repaired?
Just a thought....

I just wanted to mention a possible workaround for the DAO crashing many have been experiencing. My system is:
Windows 7 64-bit
8GB RAM
AMD Athlon X4 640 3.0GHz
Diamond HD 3870 (ATI).
I am playing DAO connected to my 47" LCD via an HDMI cable. The ATI 3870 has a DVI -> HDMI dongle that I am using to get sound sent to the TV (AMD supplies the driver in Catalyst) as well as video at 1920x1080P resolution. When I play DAO I get anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes of gameplay before I get a crash to black screen, forcing me to do a cold reboot. The system is totally unresponsive. It is worth noting that I am able to play Mass Effect 2 on this setup from start to finish with zero issues.
My workaround was to disable music in the configuration. Strangely, without the background music streaming, it seemed to make things more stable (I was able to play nearly a full hour after turning that off). I am not sure if this is an issue in DAO or in the ATI sound driver itself, but it may provide a hint to those invewstigating the issue.
Thanks,
FantasticRhino

It is also worth mentioning that I just auto-logged in at the game launch without "try again" issue just less than half an hour ago. Either it was just by chance, or something really was fixed with the game server. I just quit to install a fix for a Vigilance issue, and then started the game again, and voila - I have no need to retype my password again. Also a bit earlier I lost a server connection. Reconnected later. I now think that maybe they were implementing that log-in fix at that time.

I suspect it's the ATI driver... or that there's an issue related to that. You can try doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of the driver in safe mode... http://social.biowar...484/blog/13857/
If you want to troubleshoot more, best to make a NEW post in the forum, so we don't clog up this one.

Sorry about that, I just thought it might be relevant to the patch investigations which might point to the DAO audio subsystem and/or audio drivers, at least related to my setup. I will continue to play with the music disabled and see if the crash happens in future. I will also consider performing a clean install of the Catalyst video driver, but as I said I am able to play other games like Mass Effect 2, and do other things like run the Folding@Home GPU client with no issues whatsoever.
Thanks,

Folding@Home Client, how old is your driver? I always use custom install with my ATI and I haven't noticed that in some time.
Have you tried going into device Manager and shutting down the HD Audio for your ATI? Just to test it.And you never mentioned what sound card you are using.
Cheers! W.S.

Hi Wil, I am actually using AMD Catalyst 11.5 just released a few days ago, before that it was 11.4. I typically keep up to date with new driver releases. The Folding@Home client I am using is the latest v7.1.24 beta client that Stanford has in testing.
As for a sound card, there isn't one. The ATI 3870 has the ability (using the dongle I mentioned) to send HD audio over the HDMI cable from the videocard itself. While my motherboard onboard sound shows up in the Device Manager, there are no speakers plugged into it and the AMD HDMI device is set to the default output device, so onboard is never used. While I could disable sound altogether, just disabling music has thus far resolved the issue for me.
Thanks,

I've played Dragon Age before without problems
I have Nvidia GEforce 9600gt/
Windows Vista/
Intel core 2 duo processor p7350 2.0 GHZ
VC: shader model 4.0
I've uninstalled it some time ago and i installed it again now
When i create a character
in the begining it's working without a problem
after some time of playing it starts to lagg, i've lowered the Grafics level and other thing
the problem was fixed for a short time, and then i lowered them again and it fixed itself, again for a short time, but when the battle of Ostagar begins the lagging is unbearable
So i started a new character and in the begining it didn'd had any problems at all, after some time it began to be lagging and at the same point (battle of Ostagar) it became completely unbearable again,
Burnout Paradice is also lagging and it didn't had setch problem before
Dragon Age 2 I played without a sign of any problems at all, mass effect too

I can't speak for the devs, but they've said work on patches for both DAO and DA2 are happening simultaneously. My impression is that they don't want to set a firm timetable because: a) it's impossible to tell how long the testing process will take-- they don't want to put out a patch that fixes somethings and breaks others, and

Does that include an un-hardened (and slightly deluded/extremely cunning) Alistair apparently deciding to usurp the throne despite the PC making Anora Queen and not forcing him to marry her? It's a bit jarring dialogue wiseLuke Barrett wrote...
[list]
- various plotflag errors
- various conversation errors
(big thanks to Ejoslin who provided me with a very indepth list of both of these things)
If it helps track the bug down: whenever it's happened to me Anora still gives her speech to rally the troops.
Thanks!

DOH!! I forgot you mentioned you were using an actuall Flat screen for your gaiming via HDMI, I'm bad......As to the F@H I only seen that as an alt download packed with the ati card installation not thinking you could download it as a seperate item.
Not that it couldn't be an ssue but if you were thinking of rolling back your driver I am also on the newest driver and I can't say I had any sound issues with the old one.
Just curious... Does your Flat screen have an alt input/output or setting via onscreen menu for just gaming that you may not be using or aware of ?
Another note, which may not apply, but when I tried to play DA2 for some reason I couldn't play the demo in full screen mode without having sound issues ???? I had to use the " Force Stereo " option and play in windowed mode set at full res??????
Cheers! Wil SilverHeart.

So as not to hijack this thread further, I have created another new post showing the possible workaround for the DAO crashing to black screen I reported earlier in this thread. Please remove my other posts in this thread to clean up, but others should go to the following thread if they would like to report their experiences with this fix...

I understand that it is much longer (and harder) to do an official patch than an unofficial fixpack but you could, at least, add the bugs fixed by this fixpack to the list of know bugs.

Leliana's Song DLC: Battledress of the Provocateur doesn't show up in new games.
details: new games created in sessions other than ones that include playing Leliana's Song and satisfying the Provocateur achievement don't receive the Battledress. Simply logging in and verifying that the Battledress of the Provocateur (Origins) is enabled is not sufficient. It is necessary to load a save from Leliana's Song just before the achievement is satisfied and, while logged in, satisfy the achievement again. Then, in that same session, load any games that don't have the Battledress - they will now have it. Saving these games keeps the item present, but this process has to be repeated if a new game is created in a future session. This is the only DLC item affected in this manner and is well-documented in numerous threads. No support has been offered by Bioware on the issue in any of the threads.

Dead Drops quest is broken by 1.03/1.04 patches. The Dead Drop location in Redcliffe is not accessible under game versions 1.03 and 1.04. This can be verified by attempting the quest with 1.02a installed and then trying it with 1.03 or later.

Note that this has never happened in the initial version of DAO, as I distinctly remember playing it on this very same laptop without a single crash. Using the very same mods as well.
One of the crash screens I had today: http://i476.photobuc...130511_1855.jpg
And yes, the game did this instead of going to a black screen.
