I always read that he sucks....
But I actually like the new voice.
Even a bit more then his Voice in Awakening.
The old one sounded good for his funny moments, but I can't really imagine it for the 'serious Anders' in DAII.
So am I the only one who likes Anders' new voice?

I prefer Greg Ellis' rendition and think he would have done fine with serious Anders. Unfortunately Cullen got him.

Personally I think the two actors sound a lot alike. The first time the two characters meet, I actually didn't think that either sounded out of character and would've had a hard time determining whose voice was whose if not watching the screen. The difference is primarily the tone of the character's personality. Greg Ellis is more serious with Cullen than he was with Anders. But Adam Howden has done a fine job of portraying someone who's been beaten down and completely changed by inner turmoil. There's still the occasional quip that sounds like the old Anders, but overall I'm glad they changed his voice. All I hear is the difference in his life experiences from Awakening to DA 2. So it wasn't as jarring as I thought it'd be.

No, I like the new voice, too.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the old voice. Greg Ellis did a fantastic job with Awakenings Anders and he probably could have done credit to a DA2 Anders, but it's a different game and Anders has changed. His new voice works for him.

I like it. I don't think I would have noticed a difference if someone here hadn't mentioned it!

I'm firmly in the "didn't like it" camp.
Nothing against Adam Howden of course. It's just that Anders' had a distinctive and chippy voice in Awakenings, and he sounded rather lobotomised by comparison in this game, possibly by design. Honestly, he sounded very, well... wimpy this time round. Just a lighter voice, with less edge, even in times of snark.
I honestly just found him far more charasmatic and interesting to listen to with Greg Ellis and his original voice. I still find DA2 Anders' voice a bit jarring.
Perhaps we need a poll!

I didn't really notice until I read the forums. Either I don't care for such things or I'm just derp.
Tbh I mostly noticed his swap from happy/kittens/freedom to emo/rage/freedom.

Adam Howden sounds exactly what Anders is supposed to be. Conflicted, broken, exasperated, and resolute all at the same time. With all due respect to Greg Ellis, he portrayed Anders' carefree attitude in Awakening brilliantly, but I just can't picture his voice on DA2 Anders anymore. There's intensity and passion in Adam's voice that fits the tumultuous emotions Anders is going through. He's no longer the same guy we knew and as dejecting as that may be, he's gone either way.

Do you like the new voice, or do you like how amazingly hot the new voice ACTOR is? C'mon now...be honest!

I wish for the Old humurous Anders back not the genocidal maniac in DA 2( now we know what happens when you take a man's cat away)

Perspective of an outsider: Haven't played Awakening in english, i just know his voice in DAII. I think it is very good. Only just now checked his original Awakening voice, think i like his new one better.
Fun fact: In the german dub, Anders is the ONLY character who kept his old voice actor (that i'm aware of).

His german voice in Awakening is great. On a same level with the english one.
In DAII, it doesn't really fit, just like I assume Greg Ellis wouldn't fit
And for the poll:

I don't even remember what he sounded like in the expansion his character seemed consistent though from just the parts I remember.

To really compare, I think I'd have to hear Adam Howden deliver the line, "Not when I'm naked I don't." Only then can I give the difference proper, full consideration.

I think Greg should re-read all of the lines, and the two should have an anders-off. Whom ever wins, takes his clothing off >.>

I miss the accent, but I'm used to new Anders now. I think the different VA suits a character that is really a merging of two beings. His speech patterns seem more a mix of Justice and Anders which fits.
Adam Howden does a good job imho and as much as I loved Anders in DAA - this is isn't that Anders anymore. Greg Ellis would have been able to do the new Anders I'd think, but I can see why they'd decide to change Anders instead of Cullen.

I think Howden did a phenomanal job at conveying Anders' emotions. This is a character far more tortured than his appearance in Awakening suggested. And the new VA really captured that.
Plus, breathless kisses. My god, the kisses.

I love his new voice
I also liked the old one, but hey, the new one fits and I understand why they had to change VA's.

Actually, now that I'm doing a DA:A playthrough, his original VA actually sounds very strange to me. I think I like the new VA more than I thought.

I think Anders' voice in DA2 is fine. It's a completely different character with a joining of 2 individuals from Awakening. Plus to be honest Anders sounding just like Cullen was meh to me. Anders was amusing in Awakening but the only great thing I thought of him in that game was when he had to fan his hands after flaming the dark spawn when you first met him.

Yeah - that was pretty funny; I had never caught that before!

No, he doesn't. And that's why I love it. His snark comes across as petty and spiteful, even though you can tell he's trying. It's perfect for tortured Anders who remembers how he used to be and can never go back.kromify wrote...

I think Adam does an amazing job with DA2 Anders, infact he's perfect for it.. The whole tortured soul deal wouldn't have suited Greg if you ask me...
However, Greg does have a certain flair to his voice that is better for the wit/snark/sarcasm that came from original Anders..
Over all, I love Adam-Anders, but Greg-Anders holds a special place in my heart too.
I love them both.
