*WARNING , THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AN IDIOT*

Ok so I may need a little help here, it transpires that I have a possible conflict for two sets of threads for my female mage and male warrior Hawkes, problem being is the *Item_Variation_gda* given for both ( the female thread replaces the mage champ and the male can replace either blood dragon or male warrior champ depending on the mod I dl) so I come to you guys to ask for assistance in how I can resolve this.

Now remember when replying to try and translate to layman terms, or in my case idiotspeak :P

Any help would be wholly appreciated.

Might be easier for us if you gave a little more detail about what exactly you changed and what is actually happening.

Easiest is to open both and see what lines are modified. If different lines then it's easy (assuming that these are modified variation files with just the necessary details, and not the full file), just copy lines from one file into another, then delete the first one and that's that (need to make sure of course that all fields go where they're supposed to be). If same lines are modified, then you just have to choose which one you will use, can't use both or combine. More messier if you have actually the full variations files, in which case you'd have to either modify appropriate lines, or replace them, or trim that full file down to contain only the necessary details.

@Sunnie - A fair point, vague descriptions of vagueness dont exactly go to assisting you guys, ok the layout is this.

For fem mage Hawke I have the warden mod from da nexus with the elven texture ( a very nice look I may add) found here http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2703

And for my male warrior Hawke I was looking to use the warden mod found here ( aslo a very spiffy bit of work ) http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2488

Both files come with the relevent erf folder and the item_variation_gda, but of course placing both the gda file/s into the override folder states a need for replacement or rename so both files can exist, but that will not work and just having one variation file loses either the fem mage outfit or the male warrior.   I just want to be able to have both exist so I can flick happily between playthroughs.

If of course thats not possible then fair enough - hell im thankfull you guys replied back to lil' old me.  Oh and as an aside Sunnie, your item packs are a godsend, very well done serah *doffs cap*

@Whailor - I'm guessing you mean open the gda files? if so im just not that confident in messing around with things such as that, im a writer and an artist and have sod all capability when it comes to technothingamyjigs. Hence the warning at the title :P But I am willing to give anything a go if it helps.

Ok, i'll take a look at the 2 variation files

Edit: Ok, from the looks of it, the first one is a redo for mage and the second is a redo for warrior. There is no modded item variations in the warrior armor mod, so the two should peacefully coexist.
However, there are some issues here.

The item_variations.gda included in the mage mod is the entire gda. This is bad since it will fight over dominance with any other item_variations mod. The modded gda needs to be stripped down to JUST THE MODDED LINES and then given a new name that begins with item_variations, such as it item_variations_mage.gda
This way the modded lines are the only ones overriding and not the entire list. The caveat here is that you still need to be wary of different mods that modify the same line.

I merged both together for you. Drop the item_variants.gda into your override folder with both .erf files and you should be good to go.

Just bear in mind, the mage champion robes won't render on male characters anymore, and neither will blood dragon armour on female characters, due to their being no versions of the respective warden outfits for those genders.

(A guide on model swapping for future reference)

((Or do what Sunnie says, for he is wise in the ways of such things. I just hack things together until they work))

Was just flickng through some tutorials on using the editor from that thread but to Sunnie and Bleetman you are both legends, thank you for the advice and especially Bleet for the file.

As for the restrictions for male/female thats fine as the two chars are all I plan to run through with on repeats anyway.

Again you are both the mutts nutts, you just made this northern monkey very happy.
