Well, I just got through The Gauntlet and thought that maybe I should provide a tiny walkthrough for the bridge part to ease the frustration of anyone not in the mood to solve riddles. :P

First of all, a few pointers:
  • To solve the riddle you only need to get 1 of your characters across the bridge. I don't think it matters who that will be.
  • The other 3 characters will move independently to each one of the tiles I mark with a colored dot in the pics.
  • Each time you get a new bridge part "materialized" you need to walk to that part with the lone player you've chosen to cross the bridge.
  • You'll need to press the "Hold Position" button in order to move your players individually.
Ok, so here's how it's done:

STEP 1 : Place a player on each one of the dots below.

Posted Image

STEP 2: Move the player at the blue dot to the new position.

Posted Image

STEP 3: Move the player at the green dot to the new position.

Posted Image

STEP 4: Move the player at the red dot to the new position.

Posted Image

FINAL STEP: Move the player at the blue dot to the new position.

Posted Image

That's all. You've got your player across the bridge and can now move the rest of your party as well. Enjoy the game! :)

He's still right, you know. There are at least two gauntlet threads that contain solutions to this puzzle for every single day in the last two weeks...
Yours has good pictures though...

Do people realy have problems with this? Just get three characters stood on blocks so all of the sections are there but not solid, and then run the other character along all the blocks.

He is. Still, a bit of politeness goes a long way.
Maybe it could be useful for someone, maybe not. It's not like it costs anything. :P

But none is such a clear and helpful manner. While I've already finished the quest long ago and didn't really have a problem with it (and I can't see why anyone would have a real problem with it); Thank you OP.

Ok, I guess I'm an idiot cause I try to do what you guys say and I just can't get it.  I go to move the person on the blue dot to the 2nd possision I get kicked off the bridge.

A more compact version: if pads to the left of the bridge are numbered L1-L6, and pads on the right, R1-R6.

Depress L3, L6, R2
move free character forward to last solid bridge platform
move L3 to R4
move R2 to L1
move free character forward 1 bridge platform
move L6 to R5
move R4 to L4
move free character to the end of the bridge.

http://social.biowar...47/index/141889 <- Includes both of the solutions already on this page... with pictures.

The search feature of the website does now work properly as well.

no good deed goes unpunished or unflamed. Thanks for the hint - had already solved it but being helpful carries it's own rewards and not everyone searches the whole forum for things. Me I like to work it out for myself and did - but some are less capable and more impatient - good work.

Indeed, thank's for taking the time to help out, regardless of whether or not it's posted elsewhere.

Am I the only one who actually felt like doing it myself..and not asking nor expecting any help in the process...too many people refuse the think for themselves...Its not a bad thing, your brain has a purpose beyond figuring out how to open the fridge.

I guess you are a true genius of our time for figuring out this super complex puzzle all on your own, Krenmu. Have you considered becoming a Doctor, or even perhaps a rocket scientist?

Just think of the possibilities. Dragon Age bridge puzzles are only the beginning.

Thanks for the info! Question: can this be done with only 1 character as in a solo playthrough? Or do you have to Bring 3 with you just for thar quest?

No, this puzzle is not a matter of "thinking".    There's no  dicernable pattern, no logic to figure out, no mathamatical  solution  to it.  And most importantly, there's no in game hints.  Oh, and the  solution actually differs depending on which gaming platform you're playing on.

It's simply a stupid "luck"/"trial and error" puzzle with literally hundreds of possible combinations.  If given a choice between engaging in a 4 hour trial and error session  vs. coming online and getting the solution in 5 minutes, smart people choose the latter, while "patient" people choose the former.

Don't confuse the two.

??

Maybe you're playing a consle version, or maybe they've changed something in a patch I'm not aware of, but in my game there's no luck involved at all, and there's certainly nothing random about any of it..  Step on each plate around the edge to see what each one does, and then literally connect the dots to get across.  It's not as if the segments of the bridge that appear each time I step on the same plate change.

And Alistair, at least, chimed in with a few unnecessary hints as well.  Maybe he just likes me, though.

4hours..really now? took me 15mins to figure out without a guide.  You just need to have a basic understanding that you need to progress the platforms while keeping the current one solid..once thats finished there is a defined pattern because you know that the next step is making the next platform transparent..then solid, and repeat that step.

So while you may try to insult me, there weren't very many guides available on day one..and I didn't think to look, it seemed fairly simple to me. And I'm on the PC btw.

Look, dose it REALY matter that some people solved it in minuts, and some in hours or somthing?

It is a GAME, people enjoy the game diffrent ways.

In anycase I restate my question: Can a solo character solve this puzzle? If not I guess it is not possilble to do this whole section of the game alone.

how to solve puzzle:
tell party to hold position.
put guy on first square. record results on diagram.
put guy on second square. record results on diagram.
put guy on third square. record results on diagram.
etc.

study diagram.

solve.
took me about 15 minutes my first try, but that's just because the "opacity values" of the right versus the left threw me off.

the second time i tried took about 3 minutes. the location of the three double squares on the right are what really make this puzzle a cakewalk.

smart people solve the puzzle themselves. easily. impatient people go online for the solution, while patient people go for trial and error.
