So it has been stablished that Quarians use that weird suit/helmet because the contact with the enviroment outside of the Flotila could be harmful to their health, okay.

I wonder though - what a quarian looks like, under the suit? Tali was my favorite party member on ME1 and I always hoped to see her face, or any quarian face for that matter.

Anyone?

Hopefully we'll get to see one unmasked in ME3. I'd like to see one even if it's not Tali.

Just look through her Visor in ME1. I know it's dark, but you can see the face through it. The shape though looks like they reused a basic female head, so... they look as human as an Asari (maybe more so). When she's down in the engine room of the Normandy, you can position your camera to get a pretty good view, though the folks at Bioware did make certain you couldn't clip the camera through the mask. If you really want to see the shape of the head and face without the visor though, you could always resort to a directx ripper to dissect the model. Aside from the eyes for the glow effect though, I doubt there's any texturing done to the head and it's likely been left a base gray.

I'd like to see them too but I am afraid if I do I'm gonna be disappointed.
Based on her legs/feet it would be pretty unrealistic for her (or Quarians in general) to be beautiful by human standards, for me at least. Also that part of the suit around the neck area always makes me imagine them to be pretty much reptilian...similar to Turians,..and I figure if they do show them they'll have to make them look good and will go for "too human" look..
Just imagine her taking of her suit and a Vorcha lookalike crawls under there that'd be something

Pure speculation, but hey, I got time.

  • If you listen closely, quarians have very human-like voices. Apart from the flanging effect the helmet-mics procure, there is really not much difference between a quarian voice and a human voice. What does this mean? Well, it means that quarians most likely have similar vocal systems to humans--similar teeth, lips, tongue, vocal cords. Look at all the races with voices that stray from human-like standards--the turians, vorcha, elcor, hanar, drell. All have different vocal ranges and sounds... and therefore talk in a way that isn't human-like.
  • In ME2, when rescuing the quarian lieutenant crash-landed on the planet the quarians were attempting to survey as a reasonable homeworld, you can see some skeletons nibbled clean by the varren. It's gruesome, but shows some interesting tidbits, especially the fact that the general skeletal structure of quarians are very similar to human skeletal anatomy, apart from having their hearts on the right side of their bodies rather than the left, three fingers and toes, and having the bottom halves of their legs bowed significantly back--similar to salarians.
  • The quarians come from a planet terrestrially similar to Earth, apart from it being more arid due to having a larger, older sun. Therefore, even though the quarians developed a reverse chirality than most other species other than the turians, they are still considered to be carbon-based.
  • You can see parts of Tali's face through the visor, and it is very human-like.
Considering all these facts, you can conclude that quarians are most likely very similar to humans.

If only Bioware wasn't limited by the combat skeleton.

You know there's an image floating around that shows the model's head, right? As I said before, if you really want to see it, all you have to do is run a directx ripper and remove the mask sub-object.

In fact... here:

Image IPB

From what I gathered about that particular image, the model on the left is an artist's rendering (non-bioware) based on the in game model, the model in the middle is a render of an ingame model ripped (though they seem to have messed up on some of the material layers for the render), and the model on the right is the same ingame model reposed with the mask removed.

Again though, it really looks like they just used the basic female head model... something just let you feel as though there really was someone in there rather than inducing the stormtrooper effect where not seeing any hit of a person leads to speculation of them being just robots.

I always imagined they looked aquatic. Not really sure why. I guess their suits look like something you might wear underwater.

Since their home planet is arid. I bet they have some reptialian features. Perhaps similiar to that of the Drell. Only more human looking.

In ME1 I got the impression that Tali was somewhat amphibian because of her legs and feet, she always seemed to be on the verge of leaping or springing, a bit like a frog.

In ME2 she seems much more human shaped in comparison.

I think there is no consensus even among bioware whether they
1. show a quarian face at all in ME3.
2. how the quarian should look like.

problems is ppl want Tali to be beautiful. How do you make a beautiful alien without giving it human traits? Giving human traits however will make it just Asari 2.0. So as you can see it's kinda a difficult dilemma. Nobody wants Quarians to be elfs in space.

It's a space elf, it's gotta be.

If you're expecting some batarian/turian cross breed with purple skin, I don't know what you smoked whilst playing ME.

Phew. You picked just the wrong time to revive this rotting thread, it smells like dead fish.

If Quarians are space elves, we also know what Volus are...

For some reason I picture quarians with dark blue/grey bumpy skin.

Personally I've always thought they were some sort of humanoid reptile species, Would explain why Tali seems to complain about the cold on Noveria.

^^^yes, just like that only with a snout around 2 feet longer. those qua-rian masks are always pointed out by the mouth area, leaving me to think that their faces are shaped like ant-eaters. regardless i love tali so much, a great character who i always trust for the tough missions when a tech specialist is required. but in my personal opinion, she needs to stay clothed and covered up. leave more to the imagination, because nomatter what she looks like, it will be disappointing.
