Rune of protection for higher armor. I always use those. I also never use resistance runes so can't really say. From nickan's post it seems they give arround 50% each?

Use the Kings armour for a 2 handed warrior ( your PC)..Aveline tank. Point is moot after that. Equip Celebrant or Bloom and have the 2 items, immune to flanking and crits. And you have a 2 handed warrior, that is a damage soaking and death dealer machine...period. I spec into Reaver and Templar and he rapes. And that is on Nightmare.. Alot of casters and fade creatures in this game so it's worth it. Put a 10% all dam and the Shard rune in Bloom and it's academic.

I've just started the end of Act III on what will be my last playthrough, and my 2h warrior has 2 runes each of spirit resistance and fire resistance on my gauntlets and helm (one rune of each type in both pieces) and IIRC my resistance is about 50% for both types. The resistance runes are less effective in non-chest armor rune slots, but 50% is more than enough. I also have approximately 75% MR, 40% DR, 35% armor, 30% defense (all at level 24 at the moment).
Theoretically I should have more resistance/defense from the shared Arcane Shield talent, but I'm not sure if that's actually doing anything. The graphic shows, but the stats don't show any difference. I've been meaning to ask around about that.
Anyway, I like extra fire and spirit damage resistance because I encounter those most often. I've never seen a need for nature, lightning, or cold damage resistance (I don't think I've even noticed myself taking cold damage). I don't do armor runes because I just don't need them. Assuming no resistance penetration for enemies, I mitigate 70-75%+ normal enemy physical damage with Armor, Defense, and Damage Resistance (lieutenants and higher do more, of course). I assume that enemies have SOME resistance penetration in NM though, so my real mitigation numbers are probably lower. Still, I have 450ish HPs and shrug off most damage, so no complaints.

I'm not sure if that was fixed in the latest patch, however I do know Arcane shield was bugged and only gave 5% defense n stuff to companions and only 15% to the user (with upgrades).
Thanks for the responses.
Good luck all,

I find armor runes better than defense runes truth be told due to the fact that defense is only useful on normal enemies.UsualSuspekt907 wrote...

Champion's Set with Rune of Valiance for all rune slots
As stated above. Only 1 Rune of Valiance can be active at any one time.
Only reason to stack valiance would be to cheekily get around armor req's. Not sure if that even works but it may be worth a try for some really odd build.
Can i get some opinions on stacking defense runes(with the exception of the 1 valiance of course) with the Kings armor. Since it has a high defense stat, using defense runes in the rest of the open slots, I have been able to keep a 30+% defense rating. The damage i take with a two-hander I notice has been very little. Is there a better rune to use? all I see are resistance runes which are great and all but only help if your facing something using that element. I would like something a little more "all purpose" if i may. Any suggestions?
Edit: Do you only need 1 resistance rune to get a good amount of res to that element or does it take more?
Thanks,

How does the new DLC chestplate stack up with the CHampion Armor and KSTF.
254 armor
10% Damage resistance
+44 Health
2 Rune Slots
254 armor
10% Damage resistance
+44 Health
2 Rune Slots

The king armor is ugly in comparison to champion. I usually base my equipment on looks versus utility. haha

I agree with you, but I feel the Champion Warrior chestplate is pretty ugly compared to the Rogue and Mage Champion set.
They made the Warrrior Champion look like a Tin can.

The key thing, as already mentioned, is that regardless of if you want to wear the champion's set, it is not available till at least midway through Act 3 whereas KSTF can be taken early in Act 2 and worn for quite a long while if not till end game. I equate this to Cold Blooded for mages, an expensive pick up that is useful for much of Act 2 and 3 but may be outshadowed, depending on your party builds and if you got the DLC items, by end game.
