I started playing today and I get the messages treating me like I have never played before (explaining how to log on, telling to input my cerberus code if necesarry)

But I have had this game quite a while (on 5th character)

all of a sudden my key bindings and and achievments are all gone (I had them all)

it seems like the game is either ignoring my profile and trying to make a new one or it accidentally deleted my old one

any thoughts on how to switch back or recover my data?

does anyoen know where the profile date is stored for this game? (I have the steam version)

i don't know where it is with the steam version. On my pc it's MyDocuments\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile\\Player1.prf

It should be near where your SaveGames are located. Once you've found the prf-file you can try to restore it (right-click, restore previous version).

Well, I don't know, if disc and steam are the same, regarding the saves. But if so, you should find your data in your own files. Under Vista this would be normally

c:\\users\\your account\\documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile\\

And if I'm not totally wrong, you'll have a hard time, to recover your old status. As far as I know there's now way to reconstruct the profile if the game crashs it. When it once happened to me on my Laptop, I finally used a profile-save that was already a few weaks old. It was better than nothing. From then on I made a backup after every new achievement.

yeah I restored a version a few weeks old. unfortunately that was BEFORE I beat the game on insanity mode.... yeah

so I have every achievement but that one
