I have a mage with the arcane warrior specilization and I want to give her Cailians armor, but I don't see how an arcane warrior specilization gives the option to wear heavy armor because her strength is still so low. How does being an aracne warrior give acces to higher level armor? And how can I equpt it on my character who has only 18 strength? Is there any option except rasing strnegth every time she levels up?

As soon as you learn the first talent on Arcane Warrior line, your combat damage is calculated from your Magic score rather than you Strength score. Same with Armour - your Magic score stands in for your Strength score.

Hopefully you didn't give your arcane warrior strength, thinking that they needed it for the gear requirement. The description for combat magic tells you that your magic score will satisfy the strength requirement for gear. Unfortunately, you still need dexterity for daggers/bows.

Get combat magic and you use magic instead of strengh.

My avatar is an AW wearing cailan's too. =)
And yes, ive been grabbed by an ogre multiple times too.

My stomach is disfigured from all the punches. :crying:

Cailan's armor is nice, though I went with Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate for the extra mana regen.

Anyhow, it's amazing what shimmering shield+rock armor can do for one's armor rating. My arcane warrior has around 63 armor and 115 defense at lv 20 and shrugs off grab attacks like it's nothing.

Arcane warrior is a very good class specialization. In my arcane warrior playthrough I picked blood mage as my second spec, and in awakening i picked spirit healer as my third specialization. Use wardens commander armor and maric's blade and you will be unstopable. Put a grandmaster silverette rune on it to give it a total of +16 damage against darkspawn. put another couple of grandmaster runes of your choice on there also. I would also reccomend a master dual wielding warrior templar as a good strong class. But as far as mages go, arcane warrior is the best spec in my opinion.

By the end of awakening my arcane warrior had 90 strength! It was rediculous!

One thing i notice in awakening... my attack rating is HORRID.

My hits connect about 40% of the time, so im thinking combat magic is a bit broken there... There's no difference with having it off... methinks combat magic only effects requirement and damage, and not attack, which is why im gonna put in a few str points just to see what it does.

Silly question-do you activate combat magic for every battle? Also, do you hae all of the patches? what is your magic? put your points into that, use good weapons, activate combat magic for every fight and you should be fine. Also, mages will never have a really high hit rate cause they are specialized in magic, not combat skills. But i did really well with Dumats spine (longsword) and the mothers chosen (greatsword). the mothers chosen is in my opinion the best 2-H weapon in origins & awakening put together. Use the armor of the senitel if your magic/strength is high enough.

I would advise using dragonage.wikia.com, it is an amazing site with walkthroughs & all the info you will need.

Combat magic alone won't give you all of the attack boosts that you may want. It also helps to have at least some dexterity, and don't forget about party buffs like rally and song of courage or sustainables like Miasma, which lower enemy defense.

My arcane warrior dual wields a sword+dagger, and with 30 dexterity, he has a 100% hit rate.  I don't see that changing during Awakening, and I might even raise his dexterity to 40 for the tier 9 daggers.

I have it active all the time, and my magic is round about 60, including item bonuses (the base is probably about 48)

I have UE.

I missed getting sentinal armour because i stupidly missed one of the veil teirs =(

I have heard of vigilance, so i should have explained myself better-i like the mothers chosen due to the fact it has +5 fire damage. As someone who enhances there weapons with grandmaster flame runes this left me with a ****-ton of fire damage. Also, vigilance can be irritating to aquire.
