 Hello,

I'm having an issue where Kasumi's stealth graphic is crashing my video card and the screen goes black/sleep mode as if the monitor can't read an input. Then I need to reset my comp.

used to only crash at the 1:43 mark of this vid, now it's crashing at the 0:05 second mark - have played up to Horizon mission without ANY video card problems, but also can't recall seeing the infiltrator stealth graphic till now.

I've updated all of my drivers and the issue is still happening. Is there any ingame setting so I can make this graphic not blow up my video card or is there any setting within Catalyst Control Center (v11.3) that I can tweak? Have been able to play at max levels on all of my games w/o any problems till now.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

i5 750 2.6GHz
[P7P55d] Intel P55 / H55 mb
ATI Radeon HD 4890 video card
Windows 7 64bit
6gb memory

Roll an Infiltrator toon and see if their stealth ability also causes the same problem, if it doesnt, reinstalling the DLC may help.

Thanks 008

What worked for me was going into the ME Launcher config and turning all graphic settings off or to the lowest possible values. Playing through that opening Kasumi scene and then saving after it's over. Then I was able to reset the settings to max levels again.

Apparently that scene hates 4800 series ATI cards - I'll post here again if I run into the issue later in the game.

Hmm, my card is a 4870 and I have never had a problem with the DLC before. Both our cards are essentially the same, yours has a few tweaks for a better power flow. Curious.

Did you try the infiltrator to see if the same thing happens?

Updates about this issue on my system

It HAS happened again and seems to be tied to the load on my graphics card whenever the stealth graphic occurs. Basically, I don't believe I can have Kasumi as a squad mate and play on the highest graphics levels and resolution settings at the same time - sometimes it crashes when she stealths, sometimes it doesn't. If you are having this issue too, try turning your settings to the lowest levels to get past the sequences where it occurs.

I also experienced this during the shadow broker DLC in one room. There's a giant room aboard the ship with lightning effects which I had to reduce my graphics/resolution to pass. At least the crash in this room doesn't cause a black screen, but still crashes nonetheless.

I'm running as Vanguard right now so I'll still have to test as Infiltrator to see if my personal stealth crashes my card too - that is my expectation.

Regardless, my next card will be NVIDIA as my friend assures me that while the cards are a bit more expensive, NVIDIA supports them later throughout their lifespan. Up until this point I have been an ATI supporter, but this experience has been unacceptable, especially for a game as popular as ME2. There needs to be better driver support.

Have you overclocked the card? Sounds alot like what happens when you have too high clocks for the GPU. Have you always had this issue? You could also try downgrading drivers. I had no problems like that with my 4870 and not now either with a 6950.

My old 4870 glitched out all the time after a while with any Unreal engine games. ME1, Bioshock 2, ME2... there were certain things that made it go bonkers.  IIRC, other points that it happened were Grunt coming out of his tank for the first time, talking with Garrus, and this one certain scene in Bioshock that I'm too lazy to describe.

And of course, it also glitched out with Kasumi.

My card was not overclocked. Oddly, if I underclocked the card, the problem subsided.

Good to know it wasn't a flaw in my card...
