How about a quest to find his body?

Or how about a quest to bring him back because Flemeth or some other witch has sensed he is still alive but doesn't have long since he is in the fade and must be found before he is trapped in the fade and his body dies? And it's the upmost importance because Duncan alone holds the key to something before it all unfolds terribly?

It could work.
Perhaps in the end you find out your his daughter or son in the end? That would be cool!!!

So many what if's with Duncan. I think they could use him to tie both games together.

Or just a new stand alone.

Either way. Duncan is a good choice.

Duncan is dead and the darkspawn ate his body. The Warden already went back to Ostagar to retrieve his weapons. There is nothing left of him. Sorry.

No. Bad enough with characters miraculously surviving death already.
And Qunari sprouting horns,
And elfs becoming mongol-fied.
And Zevran becoming duck-ugly.
And Merrill's voice completely changing.
And the Darkspawn being re-made to look like playtime playmates.

It would not be a good idea, retcon and all, but Duncan is such an awesome character that didn't get enough screen time.

Perhaps he escaped the battle and is hiding in a cave. That would explain his disappearance from Ostagar, and he would have a huge diagonal scar on his face from that Darkspawn that hits him. And it would be much better to return in DA3 than a tiny DLC. Of coarse, i wish this would happen, but i know it isn't a good idea...

I just think Duncan is so cool...

And besides we all know about the main rule in all RPG's. Characters that dies in a cutscene or while they are absent from the main characters group is dead forever and impossible to resurrect :)

Duncan is awesome no question but he's dead. It's time to move on. New characters for DA3 that are really interesting. I guess you could have Duncan's son or daughter join you at some stage though.

If Hawke have dabbled in necromancy he could possibly reanimate him as a corpse, ugh.

He's a great character and all but no. I wouldn't really want him to come back.

Ok then, how about he's in the fade and his body gone so he can't be back fully. But he helps in some small measure of a way from within the fade.
And yes, of course in DA3 not DA2 since the graphics were beyond terrible.
I don't know, I still like the idea of playing as his long lost offspring or meeting one.

Work with me here, people. LOL

Gotta know when to let go... Duncan's dead and gone... Sorry, but I'm no fan of resurrection. It cheapens the death.

I don't want Duncan back, but I am sorry we never got that DLC about Alistair's Joining. Would have been nice to see him again in that.

Seriously, this. Having Alistair and Duncan adventuring together would have been amazing.

Even if Duncan survived the Darkspawn and was left for dead of something, he would still have died of the taint, since Alistair says somewhere in DAO that he would have gone to the Deeproads soon because of it anyway.

But he was a very cool character, and I first couldn't believed when I saw him die and thougth that he had must survived someway, but it's very unlikely that Bioware will bring him back.

If he ever returned in some fashion it would probably be by means of a flashback at the most.

The best you can hope for is if they made a new dlc for DAO much like Leliana dlc, don't think will happen though. Maybe the modders can do something but doubtful.

Being dead hasn't stop bioware from resurrecting a character before.
