Am I the only one who didn't think duncan was epic and that he was a douche?
He's still a better developed character than hawke.

That's not really saying much though

Duncan died horribly to the Darkspawn.
Duncan isn't in the fade.
Duncan is dead.
Duncan being the father of the Warden or Hawke is stupid.
But we'll still miss our tutorial man.

Ok, I can let go of Duncan as long as we can see Fenris consulted about Tevinter Imperium for a new adventure quest into there.

I didn't say Duncan being the father of the Warden or Hawke.
This is for DA3, and would only work as playing a new character that didn't know about their father, say like a farmer. Only to discover in the quest that Duncan was their father, that I think would be cool. I could see how it would be such inspiration to a ordinary character when he/she is thrown into a quest with doubts to whether he/she can pull it off, much less know why they were pulled into it in the first place.
"It's in your blood. Courage courses through your veins as it did your father's."
Ok, I settle for mentioning him as that. Instead of having him appear in a flashback of someone else's memory or being in the fade. Still, with no body found and only his sword and shield, they could always come upon his skeleton, identified by his armor and find an amulet that he carried would be a nice trinket,

Don't compare Leliana's "death" to Duncan's death. Leliana never died for me - once. Ever. Duncan dies for eeeeeeveryone.

A preferable way I think is the way FFX handles it. Again Auron is a typical Obi Wan character, but when he rejoins the party much later Tidus (the novice) is about as powerful as Auron was at the start. Auron then fits into the party without overshadowing. Though Auron is so many levels of cool above Tidus it happens anyway.
Anyone who is familiar with FFX will see a route into DA3 for Duncan from what I typed.

Doesn't mean they will bring him back, but it very much means they could. They would only have to show us why that axe-blow didn't land and the Architect would have been a convenient answer to that, considering they know each other (from the novels).
Unless the devs have actually confirmed he is dead since then. I don't read every post here.

This sums it up. Storylines should be rational and make sense. Duncan is dead. End of discussion. Hell, I looted his body myself in Return to Ostagar.

No you didn't. Not unless you modded the game. His corpse is not present at Ostagar. This means either that he was dragged underground with the others (Morrigan mentions this going on in the aftermath of the battle) and eaten, or that he didn't die and was perhaps taken prisoner instead.
Either explanation is possible AND rational, as you require. That they give no real proof he is dead seems deliberate when they so readily show us everyone ELSE dying. Again, doesn't mean they will or even that I WANT them to. I think his death was rather well done if he really did die there. But they can also decide to bring him back and it won't require a retcon or even any type of magical resurrection (which supposedly isn't possible in the DA universe anyway).

Actually you can make Hawke look almost exactly like Duncan. Personally I was never able to but my friend wasabnocte wrote...

No. Bad enough with characters miraculously surviving death already.
And Qunari sprouting horns,
And elfs becoming mongol-fied.
And Zevran becoming duck-ugly.
And Merrill's voice completely changing.
And the Darkspawn being re-made to look like playtime playmates.
You hit the nail on the head. Those art changes were really not necessary imho. Why fix something that is not broken? Was there a problem with it? Did the fans lament about the inital version? Its the same world after all. Why change it.
Okay, sorry, I m getting off topic.
