I assume the 'Herald' is Harbinger. 2 kilometers long! That's awesome. Let's be honest, the urge to be more awesome than everyone else is strong in every species, and I think we can safely say Harbinger is the Alpha male of the Reapers. And just like the gorilla, the biggest is the leader.

Harbinger the alphamale silverback gorilla.

.
You know, this made me think. Maybe the reapers are divided by castes. Harbinger would be an alpha plus, while the smallest ships would be epsilon minus, for exemple.

ha it seems plausible.  Organics have to hit each other over females until one gives to see who's the strongest.  I imagine With Reapers it's just a matter of your creation.  And they can automatically tell which one has the most.. err, RAM. Hardrive.  Eezo Core.  Whatever makes them superior.  Harby needs a 2km hull to contain his reaper alpha-ness.

I'm loving the idea of visiting Mars. Humanity's history was changed there forever, and their fate my well be decided there. Epic full circle.

I'm looking forward to the class-specific melee. Really want to see my infiltrator do some stealth take-downs.

Also, different sized Reapers makes the Reaper vs Thresher Maw seem more feasible.

There is a new scanning system.

Hype level just lowered to absolute zero.

Okay so because of a new scanning system, which replaces the old grindfest one mind you... your hype level falls to zero. Wow I guess you don't like any game then which tries to improve its boring sections into something more engaging  <_<

Scanning is just scanning. It doesnt matter how improved it will be. I still be looking at some ball, riding mouse on it and be bored with finding minerals.

I wanted to find resources through vehicle exploration, somehow like in ME1. Gives a bigger scale to game. Instead there is planet scanning. Again... I am gonna use cheats or some mods or something asap, like in ME2.

I really want to see how will they improve something that is fundamentaly based on repetition and tediousness...

I think its a translation error.

i'm studing spanish translation and i can assure you that the translation is accurate: they're talking about a brand new class focused on meele combat

Pretty much everything moving at relatively slow speed is not activating the barriers. It allows soldiers sit, without sending the chair to fly around.

Still kinetic barriers useless against GARDIAN weapons, that may be portable this time, or incorporated as heavy weapons (beacause of laser extreme energy consumption).
There is hydrodynamic accelerators on the battlefield as well, they crack barriers like they are paper against tank main cannon.

Some things here have got me excited. A couple of points not so much, but again that mainly due to lack of information and appropriate context.

Still really dont like the sound of "rolling"

Because God forbids that Shepard is able to do something special forces are taught in basic training, right?

Pfft.  Yeah, you try a roll in basic.  Then see why everyone is laughing at you.  Rolling is great and all for movies and games because it looks cool, but utterly stupid in real life.  They'll teach you how to dive down and into cover because it gets you somewhere fast and low while allowing you to keep control of your placement and orientation, but rolling?  Not so much.  And by the way, it might not be optional.  If it's something used to get from cover to cover or another basic gameplay ability the game is designed to use then avoiding it would be anywhere from aggravating and stupid to impossible.

As for a melee class, hopefully they mean classes get new melee abilities and not that there will be a new melee class.  Having large amounts of gameplay designed around a new feature like that is just begging for severe gameplay imbalances, not to mention questions of why the hell people are attacking one another with swords when a perfectly good gun is available.

I also really like how the maps are far bigger now with more interactivity and things to do. And they are focusing more on the relationships between Shep and the team. ME3 is really shaping up to be something else, quite possibly even the greatest game of all time, perhaps?..

Oh wow New York... we sure haven't been there before!

...I'm sick of New York.

Apart from that this sounds ok. Not really sure what to think of a melee class though.

Well, they probably would've made it New Jersey, but no cares about New Jersey. In fact, the Systems Alliance is probably going to use it as ablative armor during the Reaper invasion.

I never really got the complaint about planet scanning. Sure it was boring as hell but I personally never spend more than 10-15 minutes in total for a 20 hr game....

If we think PS is tedious than imagine having to always land on every freaking planet to search for resources on a boring, barren wasteland while fighting off random monsters.

Imagine the conversation:

Earth Soldier: Earth to Normandy! Where's Commander Shepard??! We need his help NOW!

Joker: He's still digging for **** on Uranus. <_<

However boring PS was, it's better than exploring the same random, bland world for hours.

I'm spanish, and I can assure you that the article says that is a new class.
But maybe they have confused class with specialization? it would make more sense if it was some specialization for combat classes like the soldier instead of a new class.

Hehe, I'm spanish AND I believe it's a translation error. No one is taking in the context of the preceeding and following sentances.
http://social.biowar...7165411#7165534

Look, guys, here's the original text

And All that becomes this:

Close combat takes much relevance it has even been created specifically
to take advantage of a new class skills of the hero, "Heavy Melee.

This
will not only change the class system as it now permitra all using any
of the weapons in the game with limitations on their effectiveness and
the number of these that can slide together. The exception would be the
kind soldier who could carry all at the same time

So... is Herald supposed to mean Harbinger or did they just let slip the name of an antagonist for ME3?

Herald is definitely Harbinger!

Who would call an antagonist Herald anyway :P

Well there are the Heralds of Galactus. And in the Ultimates line, Silver Surfer was supremely awesome as a Herald, though not of the big G.

Or instead of that tact how about the other dozen or so major cities on the level of NYC humanity has scraped together? I mean they bother to imagine a Sea-Tac-Couver megalopolis, why not something truly sci-fi (Antarctica, undersea, minor equatorial city in the modern day turned into bustling space port due to geographic convenience as a launch point, etc)? And instead of New York ANYTHING else? About the only thing that would make that reasonable is the London data point which could then indicate that we're just panning out and seeing different pop centers burn with the viewpoint over the Atlantic.

Planets in ME 1 were different. I can post many beautiful vistas from them... my point is, they could improve terrain, add some things to this worlds to make it more interesting. At least something like in Overlord, but with vehicle in which we can save progress and be able to walk of it to explore planet also on our feet and which has also shields.

Instead we will have improved planet scanning that adds nothing to experience.
