What images are there in the scenes of Varric flipping the book or in the trailers? (E.G: There are images of Shale in the scene of Varric flipping through the book in the ending or those shots of the robed mage army vs some other guys in the destiny trailer). Also, what do you think these images mean?

About the "Destiny" trailer - I guess it is a very early version of how the conflict at the Gallows was envisioned by the writers. Or it was something witch didn't end up in the game.
Now that you've brought up this quite early trailer, however, I noticed that the Twins here are not slaves, but some random bearded dudes with shields, which I find quite interesting
