Its probably due to word of mouth (that it isn't worth full price), and hugely dropping sales over the last few weeks.

The price will settle up after the major distributors get rid of their excess stock (they bought way more copies then they were able to sell, even with the 'get a free ME2 promotion). At least, thats how it usually works.

10 euros....

In the UK it's on sale for 9.99 pounds.

You know that DA2 must suck when its already been reduced to £9.99 less than 2 months since its launch date:

www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/18172105/Dragon-Age-2/Product.html

Serious lol at all the people that bought this game for full price on launch, and how much they tried to justify their purchase and claim that this POS game was worth $60.

And I dumped 60 bucks for a steam pre-order and a I got a ME2 I already have. I just feel stupid.

Good thing I cancelled my pre order after realising how bad the game was from the Demo.

Though I still dont want to buy it for £9.99.

If you dig a little at that Play site you find that Awakening now costs more than DA2.

Before people unhappy with DA2 get too excited over this, though, does anyone know if this is just some kind of short-term sale?

Thats my guess, just to get rid of all the stock they ordered and couldn't sell fast enough. It costs a good bit for storage space at their warehouses + a few other factors.

Gamestop still has the price at 59.99USD (release price). I've seen a few retailers in the US drop it to 49 or 39, but they're few and far between.

It's not like Dante's Inferno (another EA title) that reached 19.99USD in a matter of months. It'll drop slowly.

Wow that's horrible.

That is cheaper then Mass Effect 2 by itself, I think in the UK I know it's half the price of ME2 on Steam.

That's really weird. Last time I checked ME2 was way cheap in the US -- I know because that's when I finally broke down and bought it. Not talking about Steam, though.

Amazon.com had da2 for $29.99 for a long time now. Not surprising considering the low (but fair) reviews it got there.

BS it is. It's over a year old on xbox and PC and is $20. That's common if not a standard.

DA2 has been out for barely a month and it's price is dropping fast.

They're retarded. I'd fire those minimum-wage idiots if I heard about such a thing going on in an honest business I'm trying to run. It's not as if they can't find reviews online before getting in store to buy the product.

You can hint the game isn't like DA:O, you can point out the flaws and the differences, but to outright tell the customer "Don't buy it, it sucks balls lololololol" ? Come on.

Off-topic - If I saw any salesperson suggest to any person they not buy DA2, I'd talk to their manager and get them fired.

For 1) Their job is to sell games. To deliberately tell people not to buy a fine product, no matter what they might personally think about it, is not only ludicrous - it's the polar opposite of what they were hired to do.

For 2) The game may be disappointing to some, sure, but if people - especially people who haven't played Origins - want to buy a good RPG with lots of re-playability, they would want to recommend DA II, not warn people not to buy.

How frickin' annoying is that. I doubt that's true anyway. Honestly, all it takes is for one customer to go up to a Manager and say, "Hey, your salesperson told me not to buy this game because it's bad, is that true?" and that salesperson would be fired so fast their head would spin.

*Wow I was properly Ninja'd by Ohmygadnowai, but he's right on this too.

On topic - It's still full price at all the stores where I live. *shrug* 10 bucks or euros or whatever is a good deal for consumers, but doesn't bode well for the product.

They're telling people not to buy it because they've been losing money on the huge amount of returns they've had for it.

They are trying to make money... (well, keep it in this instance).

*sigh* I did. Though I resent that you think I would try to justify the purchase. DA2 sucks, complete ripoff that I wish I could refund.

Warning people of awful product is retarded? Image IPB Perhaps they are tired of insane amount of returns / complaints.

"Huge amount of returns they've had for it"?

First of all, you don't even know which store that poster was talking about. Unless you think there's "a huge amount of returns" going on everywhere in every store. And if you do, then good day to you, sir.

Honestly. This hysteria about how bad the game is. It's like so many people are suddenly graduating from the International College of Hyperbole around here.

Their job is to advise people honestly. People typically go into Gamestop to buy a game, and if they ask for advice on which game to buy and the associate says 'They're all awesome!' with a forced, plastic smile.. well, Gamestop would lose lots of gamer cred.

I've talked to one chick that works there, they've had a lot of returns of DA2 (console versions) She never said it sucked, that it was a disappointing game, not worth $60.

Gotta remind myself to pre-order TW2 next time Im there. Prolly forget and end up getting it the next day after launch.

You can be honest without telling them not to buy it. There is a difference between :

"It sucks don't buy it omgomgomgomgomg"

and

"I didn't like it as much as DA:O, they're totally different. The story connects somewhat, but it doesn't have the same depth that made DA:O so awesome. It was a letdown. But some people enjoy it. Just not my thing."

No it's not! Let's cut the crap, okay? Please? They're job isn't to advise people at all. Their job is to sell games. Yes they can advise people and they often do, but if it's a game that's just on the fence or has a mixed reception, they're gonna try to sell that game if asked. Yeah, I know, it's ugly, it's dirty, it means pushing bad games on good people, but that's what they're paid for. They're not consultants, they're salesmen. I've worked in sales, I know what the mandate is: sell, sell, and for God's sake, sell. And of course they can do this without endorsing every title - bounds of reason.

*pant*

Moving on. Even if they were consultants, saying that DA II isn't worth a purchase isn't honest. Saying, "Well it's gotten mixed reviews" and "It's different from DA:O, but it's gotten on average decent scores" "It's not for me," etc, that's honest. Saying "It sucks don't buy it!" isn't honest.

Not that it matters, because honesty isn't in the job description.
