I buy all my games preordered from play.com. And even then they are cheaper than elsewhere. DA2 preorederd cost me £24:99 with all bonuses.

£24.99 is still around $50, which is still too much for this game.

So now we're comparing video games to potatoes and having managers laugh in customer faces. Oh the wonderful world you people must live in! The things you must see!

Better bring it back on topic before this thread completely jumps the shark.

Retail stores would be a lot more wonderful without having to deal with whining snobby little kids like you trying to get their staff fired simply for doing their jobs.

You know that DA2 must suck when its already been reduced to £9.99 less than 2 months since its launch date:

www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/18172105/Dragon-Age-2/Product.html

Serious lol at all the people that bought this game for full price on launch, and how much they tried to justify their purchase and claim that this POS game was worth $60.

I bought it day one ONLY because of how awesome Dragon Age Origins was, even though a lot of what I read about the game pissed me off (mainly how Hawke was a human ONLY and I didn't like any of the Love Interests) but I still bought it and I regret paying full price terribly. I did $55 dollars selling it though, so really I only payed $5 which is about what it's actually worth.

Sales are only part of the equation, the other is stock levels. This is why online retailers are great for discount when something is not selling , they order so many units that it costs them more in warehouse space than it does to practically give the games that have been overordered away.

This does not generally apply in the highstreet where things keep price for longer unless there is more local competition. I have 4 game shops where I live who are always trying to undercut each other.

I pre ordered it because of how awsome DAO was. However the demo came out weeks in advance of the games launch. I could easilly tell how bad the game was from the demo and I cancelled my pre order.

Gamestop still has the price at 59.99USD (release price). I've seen a few retailers in the US drop it to 49 or 39, but they're few and far between.

It's not like Dante's Inferno (another EA title) that reached 19.99USD in a matter of months. It'll drop slowly.

heh, the people at my local gamestop advises people not to buy DA2.

They're retarded. I'd fire those minimum-wage idiots if I heard about such a thing going on in an honest business I'm trying to run. It's not as if they can't find reviews online before getting in store to buy the product.

You can hint the game isn't like DA:O, you can point out the flaws and the differences, but to outright tell the customer "Don't buy it, it sucks balls lololololol" ? Come on.

That's not what they do at all, the people at my gamestop just tell the customer how the game REALLY is, I was in line with someone buying Dragon Age 2 and the gamestop employee just told them it's nothing like Origins, you only get 1/3 of the gameplay, all the dungeons are recycled, you can only play a human, ect. He was just being completely honest. And yes, the person actually did decide to put it back.

Wow. That was pretty epic, dude. Now I'm not only a kid, I'm a "whining snobby little" kid. When it comes to ad-hominum attacks, you take the prize.

You seem a little upset, tho. You should do some stretches or something. Regulate your Chi.

Well stupid of me to be one of the fanboys who was like "Well it's just a demo, maybe the actual game will be better" Now I know....

How about you take your own advice and try that out before whining about how retail staff choose to do their jobs instead.

Except that the reviews for this game all lied? As someone else said, if it was my store selling DA2, and too many people were returning it due to how crap they found it and we ended up losing money, I wouldnt only advice customers not to buy it, but I would remove the product from sale instead.

Well they sure didn't lower the game's price on amazon.ca. Then again, in Canada we get ****ed up in the ass when it comes down to the price of what we pay things for.

No kidding. For the price of one decent pair of shoes in Canada  - you can buy 4 pairs of decent shoes at Marshall's in states.

That's what happens when you lie to your customers and make a call a OK game an "Epic RPG" and the best RPG of the year. Not trusting critic reviews anymore or Bioware lol.

Moving on. Even if they were consultants, saying that DA II isn't worth a purchase isn't honest.

I can say with 100% objectivity that DA II is not worth a $60 purchase.

It is my honest opinion, and therefore I'm not lying.

Of course the price is dropping, how could it not?

I pre-ordered it to get the signature edition, because I loved DA:O. Lesson learned, will never pre-order another Bioware game again.

Yeah sure , go ahead and fire or call at arms those stores who are selling DA2 :D

If I were a store owner and you were EA, I would rather challenge you to do it :P . As a storekeeper I would worry about my reputation and my relation with my customers. I would certainly not recommend those products which I dont feel are good to my REGULAR customers...

Indeed.  Setting aside the business aspect of maintaining a good relationship with customers, as one human being talking to another, one should have the decency and integrity to be honest -- if you think that a game isn't worth the purchase price, you have an obligation to say so.

A friend of mine works at a popular game store (& computer component accessories) and the manager is really awesome. She tells all her employees to be as honest as possible when asked their opinion about a product - however she also says never to openly give their opinion (huge difference). They have a pretty loyal customer base including myself, and they even let you try out any game you want before you buy. It's a pretty solid place.

Normally thats how most of the retailers work, they wont let down their regular customer base, for some quick bugs ! One of the local stores where I buy my games, ask the customers to review the products and they even display the reviews on product menu after reading them and if it is as per the guidelines. Some of us scored DA2 low on reviews ( mine was selected and published ) , they now dont place the DA2 ( especially signature edition ) on the top and have reduced the price of standard edition by 10%.

Dragon Age: A story of fail

Main actor: Mike Laidlaw

Seriously, 10€? Dragon Age: Origins is MORE EXPENSIVE....mostly because it's the better game.

And I dumped 60 bucks for a steam pre-order and a I got a ME2 I already have. I just feel stupid.

Good thing I cancelled my pre order after realising how bad the game was from the Demo.

Though I still dont want to buy it for £9.99.

But if purchased before end of April, for the people who would pick up ME2 anyway, DA2 literally comes free now (amazon.co.uk is selling ME2 for £10).
