Yeah, those of us who are loyal to Bioware and loved everything they put out up until now must be pretty stupid...

Get off your high pedestal before you slip off laughing and faceplant.

Buying a pig in a poke is not "loyal", but stupid. Anyone who bought the game before renting it and now cries about the game being utterly mediocre has no right to complain, it's his own fault.

So, if I buy antifreeze at a gas station and they give me colored water - I shouldn't complain when I find out?
If I go to a 5 star hotel and buy a room before seeing it and it turns out I just bought a rinka-dink room - I shouldn't complain?

What's stupid - is your argument. When anyone buys a product they buy it with certain minimum expectations. DA2 didn't reach those expectations - so I'm complaining.

Although I understand the argument somewhat if the seller is geniune and it's only a matter of artist taste, but that's really not the case here. ''Complaining'' is one of the most valuable assets for a business (or industries to be more accurate) by the way; just stating that for the uninformed (oh yeah... you.) . It allows the business to understand what's working and what isn't - it allows for evolution of an industry as a whole.

I was unaware that you can rent games for a PC.

No it's not! Let's cut the crap, okay? Please? They're job isn't to advise people at all. Their job is to sell games. Yes they can advise people and they often do, but if it's a game that's just on the fence or has a mixed reception, they're gonna try to sell that game if asked. Yeah, I know, it's ugly, it's dirty, it means pushing bad games on good people, but that's what they're paid for. They're not consultants, they're salesmen. I've worked in sales, I know what the mandate is: sell, sell, and for God's sake, sell. And of course they can do this without endorsing every title - bounds of reason.

*pant*

Moving on. Even if they were consultants, saying that DA II isn't worth a purchase isn't honest. Saying, "Well it's gotten mixed reviews" and "It's different from DA:O, but it's gotten on average decent scores" "It's not for me," etc, that's honest. Saying "It sucks don't buy it!" isn't honest.

Not that it matters, because honesty isn't in the job description.

Well on steam and at amazone it has not dropped yet. It may be a special case of ... whatever ...

I mean it could be a mistake or hoax.

Did Bioware ever say that DA:RtP will be DA:Origins 2? No, they certainly didn't. In the contrary, they gave a lot of information on the successor and the heavy changes it would go through...and has gone through. If you STILL decided to preorder game and seem to be surprised that it is only mediocre...you're the one to blame. Bioware NEVER lied to the community. They always said that DA:RtP would be a different game and you even had a demo plus a pretty bland "You get free stuff when you preorder!" offer that should make one suspicous. Still surprised? Shame on you.

What's stupid - is your argument. When anyone buys a product they buy it with certain minimum expectations. DA2 didn't reach those expectations - so I'm complaining.

Anyone is free to complain about the game as its quality is VERY lacking to say the least, but people should not go out and cry about being cheated and not having bought the game they were promised...that's just irrational.

Learn your lesson and before buying a game the next time, rent it. From a friend, from a local video store...plenty of opportunities. I played the entire game with a friend's account as we work in different shifts and boy am I glad not having spent any dollar on that "game".

You're pretty delusional; a triple A company just released a mediocre title. They "lied" by association. I don't expect a 5 star hotel to have brown shower water or a michelin star chef to serve me dog food. To call me irrational for complaining when that's what I'm getting is just illogically insane.

You want to know how pissed off I was about this game? I was so pissed off for being crapped on I spent 15 hours making a short youtube video just to make myself laugh it off. Maybe in the end you're right; maybe I shouldn't have bought the game until at the very least I saw a review of it that I trusted. I will say this: Bioware is off my preorder list, and I'll tell you it's a very short list these days.

So you're recommending I torrent all my games for free before buying next time? I'm not a console gamer so I don't rent games. Yeah - go ahead and blame me for that too.

You expected a AAA to come out after such a short development time and all the...changes it went through? Start thinking rationally.

I don't know in what developing country you might live, but our video stores offer rentals for video games as a whole and that includes PC games. It's 1,50€ for 2 days with a game or 0€ if you ask a friend. Are 1,50€ / 2$ too much for an investment to check a game's quality? If yes...shame on you.

Well, here in Ontario, Canada no video stores offer PC game rentals. I'm pretty sure thats against the TOS and company's discourage that.

Being sold for $5.00 near where I live. Sad, really. I didn't think the death of the DA franchise would come so soon.

So be it, though.

Start thinking rationally; Are you even listening to (reading) yourself? If a AAA company says "I'm  going to release an awesome game." and I've loved every single title they put out because at the very least I saw they gave the game the dedication it deserves, and I trusted them to do the same again  --- if that's irrational that has to be the strangest example I've ever seen.

If you're not being serious, you're just trolling me... and if you are, I'm sorry - you're an idiot.

My apologies then, good sir, I was not aware of stores not renting pc games in Canada. And seriously, the companies cannot do anything against it, just as they cannot tell any store to stop selling used games (which is awesome for consoles btw).

No PC games rentals here where i live.

And btw - "renting" game from a friend - even if just to try it - is illegal.

I think if you purchase something and you are unhappy with it you certainly have the right to complain. If no one ever complained then nothing would ever change or improve. Most business want satisfied customers. Now we all know that they will never satisfy everyone but that does not mean you should not voice your opinion.
And although Bioware did clearly state that their were changes going to be made, they did not list all of them. Such as the extensive reuse of areas, the loss of companion armor management, and the loss of the overhead camera to name a few. It also does not excuse a company from putting out a story with so many wholes in it especially when you play as a mage and then tell you that you should just ignore it.
I don't care that I shelled out 60 bucks for a so so game I can afford it, but I won't do it again...they changed to much when I buy a RPG I want a RPG not an action game.

If you read the manual it will probably say something like.

"You are forbidden to copy, rent, sell or alter this game in any way".

You can rent games at our local video stores and even in our libaries (!). Guess some text printed in a manual isn't something people give a damn about.

Official governmental institutions renting pc games...so much for the manual.
